How to Reverently Dispose of Sacred Objects

As religious objects like books, rosary beads are oils start to wear with age, it is important to reverently dispose of them. Father Alonzo Cox advises that books should be burned and oils and rosary beads can be buried in the ground. However, you shouldn't do it yourself. He suggests contacting a local parish to see if the pastor can properly dispose of items.

Why couldn’t the books be used in the Easter Vigil fire? When closing up places of residence for elderly family, there were more religious items than a church. I was cognizant not to throw away although An elderly pastor said I could. He told me to bring to him and he would dispose of them. I schlepped two heavy shopping bags full. I found out from another he walked into kitchen and put by the garbage 🤦🏼‍♀️. I’ve been purging so much from my home and holy cards are going the way age old greeting cards are going. I don’t see Jesus caring BUT He does care how we treat one another and often that isnt sacred!
