By no means do you have to support but Mrs. Gibson and I really appreciate the support as it goes a long way since most of these videos are copyrighted or blacklisted by YT. Lots of time goes into recording, editing, researching, and providing encouraging words throughout each reaction/review so this is an OPTION for those that are able to do so. DO NOT if finances are tight and priorities need to be taken care of first.

There are a few 'Flash Mob' versions on RUclips. Described by one of the comments as ". . a cascade of sound . . " is the version in a small street lined with café tables, This version is in West Germany - WDR Rundfunkchor. Even a small dog expressed a desire to join in early on - but, made no impact on the performance. A personal note is the Choir Master reminded me of my late father, who, himself, was in a choir.
Go and have a listen to a guy named Florent Pagny...
Singing a piece of music coming from the Opera called "Tosca" by Puccini.
The song is entitled "E Lucevan le Stelle"...translating to "And the stars were glittering".
He's not (per se) an opera singer, but the song comes from an opera...and he does a pretty good job of this rendition.
Keep your eyes closed - just let your mind wonder and follow the passion in the words... You'll be amazed!
was wondering if you could make the music video box smaller that way we wouldnt have to try and see it
The least he can do is get the names right
Hi Devin! how can I purchase the jumper you are wearing in this video?
I don’t speak Italian and yet he brings me to tears every time. Such beauty and power
ITALY THE BEST IN THE WORLD
Suzanne, you should look up the translation of this segment, to understand the entire work. It is magnificent
Yes lady, that's how music works. Music transports emotions (like every kind of good art should do).
Opera lyrics are hard to understand, even if you do speak Italian.
I’m part Italian
The thing is Pavarotti didn’t just sing at you he sang to you, He was one of the greatest Tenors that ever lived IMO, He had been singing since he was a child and was even in a church choir as a young lad, His voice was real it was natural he was genuinely gifted .
no brother that's not just your opinion, it's a fact 💗
Luciano Pavarotti practised, used teachers and worked hard at his art. To claim that it was simply a "gift" diminishes what he was.
@Andrew Wigglesworth but he also had a gift. Many people put in the work but without that " something" that is not earned but just there, they will never be a Pavarotti.
@@mamamoats4890 Please read what I wrote again.
He was known as the King of the high C’s and yes he hit higher notes than that regularly in opera. In the aria “ah mes amis” he hit 9 high c’s in quick succession which cemented him as one of the great tenors - for me he is the g.o.a.t. when it comes to male singers. Check out some of his Christmas songs on YT, keep up the great work.
Also look at his pitch accuracy man it's perfection
The quality of his voice is just spectacular.
I remember him singing that song and it truly reached my soul..
Penso che non ci sia bisogno di capire le parole per avere la pelle d'oca, e commuoversi. Luciano Pavarotti ha reso quest'opera di Puccini ancora più meravigliosa. Orgogliosa di essere italiana come lui. ❤
I love watching people listen to him for the first time and watch when it goes past your ears and into your soul. God bless 🙏🙏🙏
❤
This aria by Luciano unexpectedly moves everyone who hears it. It is beyond sublime, it is not from this world.
Devin, I want to thank you for giving Pavarotti respect. He was such an amazing singer of his time. Such power in his voice and control. My thumbs up to you.
I don't give a shit how tough anybody thinks they are, when you see and hear him perform this, a lump in the throat and a tear in the eye develops.
The power of music. I don't speak Italian but I felt the emotion.
Feel lucky my friend for you just listened to the greatest human voice there ever was and will be. And I'm a Rock fan :)
Me too, me too, rock and roll baby, and I ADORE Luciano.
And you can only listen to this piece for the first time
Once, unless you have severe memory problems.
Pavarotti's voice was very unique and many people that didn't care for opera singers fell in love with Pavarotti. He was known world round and could control his voice to hit the scale from the lowest to the highest without taking a breath. I believe he is the best Tenor opera singer I have heard. That is my opinion only.
Nessun dorma means no sleep!!!! One of the most beautiful voices to ever grace this world!!!!💜💜💜💜🎵🎼🎶🥁🎤🎸 Pavarotti could sing a cookbook and bring you to tears!!!! I think his best performance of this song was at the opening ceremony of the winter Olympics in Italy!!! Definitely worth a listen!!!💜💜
None shall sleep,
None shall sleep!
Even you, oh Princess,
In your cold room,
Watch the stars,
That tremble with love
And with hope.
But my secret is hidden within me,
My name no one shall know,
No... no...
On your mouth, I will tell it,
When the light shines.
And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!
(No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.)
Vanish, o night!
Set, stars! Set, stars!
At dawn, I will win!
I will win!
I will win!
@@baldus63 thank you!!! I've always wanted to know the lyrics!!!💜💜💜🎶🎼🎵
If you can listen to this song and not react I think that your soul is dead. It raises goosebumps when I hear it, everytime.
It's called an aria. It's more than just a song. Arias are solo pieces in operas or cantatas. Songs are stand-alone pieces.
Pavarotti is a legend. Makes it look so easy and effortless. That ending, chills for sure. And I don't doubt that he's got a few steps above that top note as well.
If you want more opera, Elizabeth (the charismatic voice) on RUclips has a competition where she performs martern aller arten. It's incredible. Female voice and fellow RUclipsr to support
I had not seen the opera, but I have loved Nessun Dorma from the first listen. So much so, I had to look up the translation. Then, I read the Opera Script.
Wow! It was great. I enjoyed it. Here is the translation:
English translation of ‘Nessun dorma’
None shall sleep,
None shall sleep!
Even you, oh Princess,
In your cold room,
Watch the stars,
That tremble with love
And with hope.
But my secret is hidden within me,
My name no one shall know,
No... no...
On your mouth, I will tell it,
When the light shines.
And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!
(No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.)
Vanish, o night!
Set, stars! Set, stars!
At dawn, I will win!
I will win!
I will win!
I disagree with the translation for tramonte, I think it means tremble
Pavarotti nailed it.. Imagine hearing this unmiked (Opera singers don't use microphones in live performances- unless a recording of a broadcast or some kind is taking place). Having sung this myself, this aria is very difficult to sing. Good reaction video thanks for posting.
ruclips.net/video/Raet-yM30dU/видео.html Here Is a live recording at the met, enjoy it my friend
Pavarotti had such an amazing sound...One who can make you feel the music even if you dont understand a word...Chills everywhere, Beautiful, Thank you Devin, Blessings
You actually were one of the few who pronounced his name pretty well👍 it’s always a treat to hear him sing, so powerful!!
He also has duet with James Brown “ This Is A Man’s World”.
I heard him 20 years ago, and to this day to hear that voice projected so beautifully, I wanna cry and my heart swells at the same time! This must be how angels sing!!!! 🥲
What always blows me away about Pavarotti is how anyone can tell, just from the first note, how brilliant his voice is.
Every single reaction video I've seen (and I'm slightly addicted to them) has had that "whoa" from the second he opens his mouth. Something about the power, beauty and control he will go on to show throughout the song is audible immediately, even if (like me) your ear is totally untrained. For him to start from such a high point, and then just keep escalating, is truly astonishing.
This is dope. Glad I found this channel. Always love seeing respect paid to classical arts.
Opera singing is a high-performance sport and the result of years of training. The technique you have learned makes it possible to use the whole body as a resonance amplifier for the voice. Pavarotti also used the pronunciation of the words masterfully and knew the works and their composers profoundly, so he knew exactly when to use which feeling.
Having the good fortune to experience live opera at the Met it is something that is incomparable to any other drama, music, performance and voices…Even the best most stirring musicals are no match for opera performances….. it’s glorious…..music, voices stage set costumes acting
Rip this legend, a great protagonist of italian opera and nation. And a great guy
I was lucky enough to see and hear him performe this and much more live in Amsterdam around the time this aired. On Queensday in the Arena in Amsterdam, the Queen and her family was there as well. He was from another planet. So beautifull❤️
OMG…..Pavarotti was a world renowned opera tenor…. Considered by many as the greatest tenor of opera of all time… How are there really people who have never heard him sing????? His voice is beyond what any singer has ever done…EVER
we all miss Luciano
I saw him live in Hyde Park London, his voice made the ground shake and made me cry! So sad he passed away.
Never fails to send chills through me, easily the best tenor that ever graced earth imo, wonderful reaction ✌🏼🙏🏼
The greatest tenor of all time. Luciano Pavarotti sings from heaven with the angels. Passion and emotion has our hearts 💕 from the beginning of his singing to the end. Bravo Bravo 👏
The only reason I even know of Pavarotti is because when I was a baby and my grandma would watch me, she would put on a VHS tape of the 3 tenors and apparently whenever Pavarotti sang I stopped what I was doing and listened to him. In my opinion he’s the greatest vocalist of all time. Freddie Mercury and Sinatra are up there too for sure
Do you realize how much life work he put into that. His emotions show decades upon decades of hard work
You've experienced the Master. As an Italian speaker I almost wanted to cry hearing it
I love how Luciano embraced singers outside of the operatic genre, and didnt mind performing with them.
He was very down to earth
The song Nessun Dorma is from Puccini’s Turandot and the story of the aria is that he’s a man in love with a princess and by morning he promises that she WILL know his name and be his! The last repeated word “vincerò” is him saying right after dawn “al alba” that “I will win! I will win! I will win!” The high note at the end is what’s known as a high B4. He was capable of singing several steps higher. The famous “high C” or C5 which is the measuring stick for operatic tenors was at his command during the height of his career. The Master if the High C’s!
High “c”sat his command at the height of his career. So very true. Incomparable
Nessun Dorma ( "no one sleeps") is an aria from Puccini's opera "Turandot", sung by all the great ( and near great ) opera stars (male and female)........this is probably the most moving rendition of all....R.I.P., Maestro Pavarotti......
One of the greatest operatic tenors ever born!
Pavarotti is considered by most people to be the greatest tenor in history. Nessun Dorma is an aria (solo) from the opera Turandot composed by Puccini. The Three Tenors have 4 performances of concerts following the World Cup games in the 1990's. Also check out Andre Bocelli of Spain as the current top male soloist in operatic music. Both of them have performed in concerts which include many popular songs. The Three Tenors had a lot of fun with each other at their concerts.
That's the goat right there. My family is Italian and I grew up listening to that stuff during dinner. My dad always put it on. I never cared for it at the time but now it can make me tear up. It's crazy. I'm a rock/metal bass player! Good stuff. Anyone ever tell you your look like Dallas Keuchel?
Bravo 👏 to you for having the wisdom to not stop this masterpiece anywhere along the line. It is irreverent to interrupt such brilliance.
👏👏👏👏👏
i had the joy of seeing the three tenors with my father they were amazing, music that hits you in the heart
Goosebumps EVERY TIME..so beautiful and l do not even speak Italian...👏
the best luciano pavarotti
That voice is a gift from GOD!!! LOVE YOUR REACTION!!
Credit to you stepping out of your familiar path and boy die you step into another of the greatest in my lifetime, perhaps even yours. Many times he's gone higher but this is what Puccini wrote and this what every tenor since has been measured by.
Pavarotti had such smoothness in his note to note transition- he was and is unmatched to this day. Love his pop duets with various artists. Check out his Holy Mother with Eric Clapton.
Being that it is now the Christmas season, you must check out his Christmas songs. "Oh, Holy Night" is my all-time favorite as sung by him. I play it every Christmas season. I love this magnificent man's talent
It's a great thing to keep an open mind to all music! Enjoy watching the channel!
In the end, filled by the holy ghost.... Show´s in his eyes!
Love your reaction! Thanks! RIP, Master.
Devin, Pavarotti was the tenor who made me love classical music. As a young Latino growing up during the late 70s-early 80s in East Los Angeles, it wasn't a type of music that was readily available. I have the blessing of having a father, who although he dropped out of HS at 16 to work and help out his family, he was a man who loved to learn new things across a wide berth of subjects. He would take me to one of the secondhand stores in our neighborhood (we had four in the area). He would take me to the book section and music section (in the days of vinyl LPs & cassettes) and allow me to choose one of each. This is where my love of learning blossomed as well. Hearing old vinyl recordings of Caruso, Callas, Krauss and some newer Domingo, Carreras and Pavarotti, helped me expand my horizons and dream of places outside of "the barrio". BTW That last note from Nessun Dorma always brings chills to me as well. Keep exposing yourself to classical music. You'll find the more you hear and the more you learn about the different classical pieces, the more you'll appreciate the beauty of the masters. They tapped into the beauty of the human spirit and connected it to God. Brahms, Beethoven, Mozart, Vivaldi, Puccini, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Strauss, etc. Believe me, you'll thank yourself for doing so.
I was fortunate enough to see him live one. Some opera can sound too harsh - but his voice was so smooth and amazing.
The very best tenor to ever have lived and here he is singing the epitome of tenor arias. Flawless, with power and passion as only this man could achieve. His expression at the conclusion shows just how moved he was to share his gift with all who would listen. Bravo & thank you for sharing.
He is the voice of this world by all standards. All singers will, regardles who they are, where they come from and no matter the janr they belong, tell no one can match Luciano. That voice is angelic and a true legacy of ours as civilization!
You cannot be in the music field in any way and not knowing about him! Peace out
Nessun Dorma from the phantom of the opera. About a stalker who kidnaps a woman he loves but Pavarotti makes it sound so lovely with that beautiful voice
Look out for his performance of „Caruso“. There is also one RUclips video with English subtitles available. Mindblowing piece of music.
He was the GOAT for sure. I get goosebumps every time I hear this song.
They played this song at the end of the movie, "Sum Of All Fears". This is one of the most incredible pieces of music sung by the most incredible tenor of all time. On my Top 3 favorite songs....I get chills EVERY SINGLE time I hear it! Just phenomenal!
I just subscribed to your channel cause you make listening to some of my favorite songs really fun! 😁😁👍👍
GOD Bless you! 🙏🙏. And keep making these videos, I have a lot of artists and songs I can turn you on to....I worked in radio for a living back in the 1970's, 1980's and early 1990's! Plus college radio before that where we played a lot of different music! I learned more about music in college radio than anywhere else in life and I was into music all my life, but what I learned in college radio made what I had listened to before seem like a drop in the bucket! If you want any ideas for reaction vids, I can probably find songs and artists you have never heard of....👍👍😏😏
They were not a "group". Each was a noted star in his own right. They were assembled together solely for this very celebrated concert.
Puccini wrote one of the most beautiful opera and Pavarotti gave it the most magical moment with his outstanding voice
My favorite aria of all time. Can't believe you did a reaction. Thank you, sir
I enjoyed your reaction to this version of Nessun Dorma, if you want to hear how powerful Pavarotti’s voice is you really, really, really need to hear him sing this same song from the movie, Yes Giorgio, it is absolutely beautiful, plz plz plz plz
The best of the best! So proud to be Italian! ❤️🇮🇹❤️
In Opera, they don’t just sing, they Act…. He does both perfectly! ❤❤
Chills every time, it’s so beautiful. Thank you
Pavarotti is on his own league, what is known in the singing world, his voice has a very special "Timbre". By the way, love the Sig Sauer sticker there, NICE!
You would probably like "Ti Amo Cosi" sung by Dimash Kudaibergen, Aida Garrafulina, and Lara Fabian. Dimash is opera trained but is neoclassical in his approach. Aida Garrafulina is the lead soprano f the Vienna Opera, Lara Fabian is a also classically trained but, again more neoclassical in her tone. All are well known. The song itself is very classical with a full orchestra. At only age twenty-seven, Dimash is among the most capable singers in the world. You want high notes? He's got high notes. You want low notes, he's got low notes. Do you want perfect diction? Check. Do you want absolute precision? Check. The song is a logical progression for Pavarotti but does not really showcase Dimash's range. In this context, he's playing a subtle role as an operatic baritone. IF you want to hear his range in an operatic context, check out "Olimpico: Ogni Pietra." I call it "Star Wars: The opera." Here he is a baritone, tenor, alto soprano, you name it.
Your reaction was so genuine ! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. He is probably the greatest tenor of the last century or ever. Try Maria calles. Ave Marie, you won't regret it .
In my opinion, he was the GOAT. There have been many great tenors, but he was the best. RIP Pav.
Agreed.
I was 9 when this concert happened. Chokes me up as much now as then. Magnificent.
I'm so happy you chose this video. EVERYONE reacts to the SAME video and there are so many to choose from. Here you get to hear the three greatest tenors of our time. I fell in love with Placido Domingo when I was a couple years old. I never heard of Pavarotti until just a year or two ago, but when I did, my beloved Placido had to step aside. This video is adorable as they are competing with each other. I suggest that you also check out a video where Pavarroti solos as this is his signature aria. Just not the same one everyone else listens to. Oh Crap! It's the same video. "My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is utterly ruined." Review Bra.
LOVE Pavarotti, this one always brings me to tears, so very powerful! You may want to look up Andrea Bocelli (the blind tenor) he's amazing as well!!
Another unbelievable singer is Dimash Kudaibergen. This guy has an 6 octave range and he is trained since the age of 5 years old. Please react to Dimash singing "Adagio" from the singer competition 2017 and the song "Ogni Pietra" the fancam version or from his own channel. It's mind blowing. All the best from Germany and stay safe 🇩🇪 Petra
My favourite aria of all time is Queen of the Night from the Magic Flute performed by Diana Damrau, its amazing, it goes higher, a lot higher you will get the chills my man i promise you.
I'm not an opera fan but this aria has one of the most beautiful melodies ever.
There's a live recording of the actual opera from awhile back. Luciano is very young and it is amazing.
I just sent you a Luciano Pavarotti's highest notes that he sang an opera that I think you will absolutely love and be blown away with.
Good observation. That is the largest orchestra I have ever seen. And the best, just gorgeous. See the screen above the orchestra? That is not for the audience. The orchestra is so large, they can not all see the conductor, they are watching and following him on the screen. The story: he is a prince who will compete for the hand of the beautiful but cold princess in the morning. He must answer her three questions correction or lose his head. He is not worried, he knows he will win (vincero!!) He has given the princess a riddle of his own, he has kept his name secret. She has sent her servants all over the town to find out his name, hence the name of the aria, Nessun Dorma, no one sleeps. OH SHIT. This is the same video they all do.
My man Devin, you open a whole box of wonders with this one.
I highly recommend other Pavarotti's performances such as: Vesti La Giuba, O Sole Mio and Caruso.
Because they are arias from operas, it's nice to check out each story before listening, usually a wiki article will do just fine. Don't worry, it will only enhance the experience and that's what people did back in the day and still do before listening to a new opera piece.
I'll check it out! Thank you so much for the love and recommendations family
Pavarotti wasn't just once in a generation talent he was once in a human race talent amazing man i can't not cry when i hear this even tho i've heard it 1000's off times
There was a voice teacher who gave us a quick wrap of the story in which a princess must guess the bad guy's name (kinda Rumplestiltskin). So the princess is running around town telling everyone that they cannot sleep. The opera is Turandot.
Brings backs memories of Italia 90.. Not a opera fan but this envokes goosebumps every time 💗💗 💗
I like you, you seem to be a good human being. I loved your reaction to this work of art and look forward to hearing more from you, love from Scotland
I love your response. He makes me cry in this!
You mentioned the large number of people on the stage. That was an opera chorus and one of the greatest opera songs is "Va pensioro" (The Chorus of the Herbrew Slaves) which is moving and beautiful and has been used many times to express how people feel about their homeland. You'll love it, 100% guaranteed.
Goose bumps every time , after all these years !
Devin, This is one you HAVE TO HEAR!
Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballé - Barcelona (Live at La Nit, 1988 Remastered)
It's incredible to see young people react to this beautiful work of art. Like, I grew up listening to Opera, even being poor and living in a third world coutry. But people today might be a little disconnect of that. It's always great to see how people from all different backgroungs can appreciate beauty. Thank you for sharing you reaction!
Great video glad it touch you he was the best.
Very much enjoyed your reaction - and that of many other surprised new listeners to Pavarotti and opera.
I’m glad you had the wisdom not to interrupt this masterpiece, except for a few quick comments.
Tears and chills. Every time.💜🔥💜
Listen to the entire opera, if possible. All of the music is beautiful, and an unusual twist into a mythical world. Puccini wrote "verismo," which means real life, but Turandot takes place in a mythical Peking. Pavarotti also sung an amazing Rodolfo from "La Boheme" in his younger days. His beautiful tenor never lost its bloom.
Bravo! Yes he could have gone higher but he sang it the way it was written. Probably the the greatest tenoe of the mid to late Twentieth Century. Jerry Hadley was a young tenor of the late Twentieth Century and his version of 'Una Furtiva Logrima' (One Furtive Tear) is so beautiful his bel canto is flawless. He died, still young, in 2007 still going strong but depression got the better of him.
Everybody always goes for Nessun Dorma when reacting to Pavarotti, and I can understand why, it's one of the most iconic pieces of Opera there is. However, I think Vesti La Giubba from Pagliacci deserves at least as much attention because there is no better example of the pure, raw emotion Pavarotti could express in his performances.
Your so kind! Bless you🙂
Devin for life!
Don't sleep!Don't sleep!
You too, oh Princess
In your cold room
Look at the stars that tremble with love
And of hope
But my mystery is closed in me
No one will know my name
No, no, I'll say it on your lips
When the light will shine
And my kiss will break the silence
That makes you mine
Vanish, oh night!
Set, stars!
Set, stars!
I'll win at dawn
I will win
I will win
You have GREAT Taste!!! 50 years i been listening to him!!! i was 3 when i asked my mom to play the man for me mommy.
And here’s the crazy part. In a concert setting like this, he’s using a microphone. In most fully staged operas, the singers aren’t mic’ed. In his younger days, in a true performance of Turandot, there would have been no mic.
