As a barber of 10 years, doing straight razor shaves, that guy is amazing. Great technique. I don't know how these guys do shaves in this position. I had to have my Koken barber chair in layback position.
This is how real men get a shave...down by the stream, with a sharp piece of iron.

I agreed 👍, from Massachusetts. I have so many artisan soaps and different safety razors and different fancy lather bowls. This man does it with a simple boar brush, a half a water bottle to lather, probably some budget Indian shave cream in a tube, and he is providing perfect bbs shaves in no more than 2 passes 👌

Much respect to the lather he set. As someone that gets their head shaved. A bad lather, and then the shave can sometimes feel like a dry shave. Helps the pores also.
This is actually because the razor is very old fashioned so it makes a lot of noise when used in shaving.
Resourcefulness is the key to survival and success. This is an awesome example.

This is absolutely the closest a man can get to being pampered without it being gay.
sharp blades are one but more importantly is straightness of the blade. within minutes of a shave, he knows and feels his blade coming out of alignment.

"Piece of Iron", and high carbon with another or two alloying metals to make a "straight razor". Iron by itself wouldn't get or keep an edge like that (Barber doesn't strop once during the shave). Yes it's old, and has been used a lot (a lot! and he really knows how to put an edge on) but mostly this gentleman knows from straight-razor shaving. And the man getting a shave is very handsome. Thanks for the video!

no razor blade? thats a straight razor. the "hunk of iron" is quite literally a razor blade. only cheap straight razors use disposable blades, most use a strope and straight razor just like this man is using in the video. nothing wrong with disposable blade straight razors but u end up spending money when u dont have to.
