And tbh, the most you'd likely need would be some proper pads and some braided steel brake lines with DOT4 fluid. I could also see a proportioning valve coming in handy if the brake bias isn't optimal, but time will tell.
Oil cooler with a temp gauge with keep your bearings out of trouble. All 4AGEs usually spin the last crank bearing closest to the transmission due to the way the oil circulates in these engines. That oil gets really hot but you only have to worry about it when pushing it on track days
Yeah even kaicho (runningfree86) blows up half a dozen motors a year, and he's got oil cooler w/reloc, dry-sump, accu-sump, and the full build regalia. What we need is crankshafts with larger oil galleries and aluminum block with special design to allow for larger, higher volume (not pressure, volume) oil pump (from 2JZGTE or something)
@@supercattelephone Yeah, needs to be more flow to avoid it heating up at the last journal. The Toyota Corolla FX-16 GT-S being my dream first car, seeing a youtuber own one, daily drive it and upgrade it is a helluva lot of fun for me! I appreciate your content and you just earned a new sub!
the best video dude so much fun, great attitude, great little cars going for it. put wide sweet little JDM wheels and sticky tires on it its great as it is.
I firmly believe that one doesn't need a big sports car to have fun, many hatchbacks can be easily modded to be more than enough if you have reasonable expectations.I really hate people who instantly shit on these kinds of cars, very ignorant.I have a Civic, because I love Honda, because it's affordable, reliable, but fun and well built.Same goes for Corollas really.
The track looks like a lot of fun. From what I can see an LSD and more tire could help. It could also be more tailhappy, at least for my taste. With a bit of load change oversteer you could position it better. I hope my english is ok.
She seemed quite balanced and I'm floored by how well you were keeping up with the other guys, Great job! Maybe try different tire compounds next track day?
this just make me want to rebuild my E80 corolla properly even more. seeing how the dash is exactly the same, makes me want to achieve similar things like yours do. running on touges, and also running on trackdays. Thanks for the quality video as always! your 4AGE's sound never cease to amaze !
Not much to do really…a closer ratio Gearbox could be a thing. Some brake modes like cooling might be a point. There also could be some stuff like cage and Seats and so on…but honestly, I like the interior as it is.
For me being a vw guy, this is one of my favourite channels, humble build, and making what you have work, which could take many by surprise, looking forward for the next upload!
FX is going great against the other Corolla's and sounding amazing as usual, looked like a fun day and was a good watch 👍 I think upgrading your brakes and aquire another set of wheels with semi slicks for events will transform the car on the track. Over here in New Zealand I swapped my AE92 brakes out for AE111 2 piston calipers with Celica rotors on the front and larger AE111 brakes on the rear along with aw11 braided brake lines. Made a great upgrade on a budget.
Correct me if I'm wrong, there seems to be a few corners where you rely on letting go of the gas, you would benefit a lot of left foot braking on a FF car. You're struggling with the steering (and I can feel your pain if the AE82 steering is the same as the AE92, it's heavy as sh...) and kinda toasting your front tires. Other than that I think you don't need any upgrades, just seat time, the setup seems pretty well sorted and ready to provide you hours of lapping! Always nice to see your videos!
I had a couple of these 4age powered 4 door corollas back in the day. They are fun cars. I'm still driving a corolla but it's a 2zzge powered sportivo now.
Not sure how I missed this video, great work Sush! This looks like a super fun event with lots of similar cars to play with on the track. Awesome shots and compilation from other videos, really captures the excitement of track days.
Awesome video! My first track days were at Thunderhill Raceway West. It is an awesome track for lower powered cars. People I spoke to there said the key to success on that track is good tires and brakes.
RUclips didn't show me this until 3 days later which I'm gutted about! But dang the FX did fantastic! Had the video playing on the home theatre system cranked up and the 4A's just sang through my speakers like a hymn or some kind haha. It was great. I reckon some bigger brakes will assist with being able to dive a bit more into some of those corners. Fantastic video and love the eurobeat bits because they're always neat. :p Keep it up!
We had an FX16 for our LeMons car. SO. MUCH. FUN. Also. Watch out for the CV joints. oh man... oh I hope those never fail for you because they are impossible to find.
I need to find someone that can make axles that can take the abuse. They have a one piece unit available that fits nicely but still has the same weakness.
Nice, I thought you were towards central or eastern states this whole time. Last video I saw from you was around the time you had the VS eg6 video, didn't recognize the roads. Good going and also enjoy the touge videos you have as it harkens back to earlier simpler times. Thill west ccw is my preferred track in norcal, have not done CW yet.
Unless you want to turn it into a track only car, you're probably close to where you want to be power wise - much more and it'll be awful on the road. I think a brake upgrade, like some nice Wilwoods, along with suspension and tyres would make a huge difference to your car. Nice job though, it looks like you had a great time a d your car performed well.

Literally, the little FX that could. Love how the gaps just open up every time the 20V has a chance to stretch its legs.
Love these cars, I will get one besides my Honda Civic one day.
just upgrade the brakes, the car is doing well.

I say upgrade braking system and tires. See if the suspension can keep up
