I got the awesome chance to see them live at the Wiltern theater in L.A. back in the 80's. Audience up and created a conga line holding each others shoulders and circled the stage
I'm so glad everyone has enjoyed this track. Shriekback were introduced to me by my mentors elder brother, way back in 1997! There's something of the timeless about their music.
Really is. I really ran into them due to a connection with Jan Hammer and his being a fan, all the way in 2022. Been huge into their entire discography since. I LOVE when I run into a band that's obscure, but awesome, and is still cranking out music like crazy. It's rare, last one was Clutch.
@@BlazingOwnager I love that they are so obscure and are like a hidden treasure / but also wish they'd got the recognition they deserved. And yes, their new stuff rocks!
I moved away from Shriekback about 20 years ago, now I'm on a resupply binge. Bought three albums online just tonight from a link in their website, timeless music and loving their number 37.
I really love a lot of their new stuff as much as their early stuff. Some really great tracks in there of different experimental styles. The only track I don't care for on Without Real String Or Fish is Bernadette. It's not bad, just so out of step with every other song they've done, it always throws me. But the rest are straight fire. Man of Foam will burn it's way into your brain.
A friend of mine once played in a band called Cleartrails. Their singer lent my (vinyl) copy of Care and when I got it back, it was so scratchy that I haven't been able to listen to this beautiful song ever since - until I found this video. Thanks!
@artboy55 yep, i agree and i gotta say petulant and evaporation and hapax legomena are 3 that come to my mind... but all in all the entire album is fucken brilliant!
The only band that could use the word "hysteresis" in a pop song without even blinking. Some of their later stuff was good too, but I keep coming back to the earlier albums. The compilation "The Infinite" which includes this track is one of my favourites. They had some great album cover art too!

Love it, they should have been way bigger than they were.
One of my favorit songs back in the early 80's.
Shriekback, still making great music in 2022.
"This is the face that we show the world"
Great lyrics👍
For me th this band is eternal. Every album is a candle.
Timeless classic. Wish it was in vinyl, cant find it on Spotify either.

Escuchar ésto es sinónimo de cambiar de dimensión, tiempos mejores. Un chute de energía.
Estoy feliz de que disfrutes!
@@NathanLWHughes Thank you!
Such an amazing song!

I should be allowed to give it an additional #thumbs up every year. RUclips asks me, 'Watch again ?' and I do, and listen.
You have excellent taste in music!
Excellent, que de bon souvenir des Foufounes Électrique a Montréal
Je suis content que tu apprécies les souvenirs!
Ahhh that 80’s sound I absorb you
I have the original vinyl album. I couldn't find it on digital anywhere. It's my favorite album ever besides revelations from killing joke.
Vinyl's always best. And thanks for the Killing Joke recommendation!

Another gem by this great band who never got the appreciation the deserved
Music for people who think.
I'm only through to half of the playlist and each track is sounding better than the last. But THIS track? Wicked!
Ah, Shriekback! I keep coming back to you.
punkybrewstershubby me too!
Ahead of everything in the 80s
Wow! I have not heard this in a few decades! How did I forget it for so long? But I remembered it immediately! Thanks for uploading!
Enjoy!
TENCH EP was never equalled. CARE a close second.
@ZAOUWV I Know Miami vice used a Shriekback song called Underwaterboys in one of the Episodes.
Shiriekback's music contributed a lot in Michael Mann's Masterpiece Manhunter
I found them through Miami Vice, of all things. In 2022.
What a great, underated band.l know that term is way over.Anyway they got me through a vary dark time, a vaccination almost.
pure genius!
LIKE FOREVER
Love ❤

I am pretty sure Shriekback music was once also used as background music in the ultimate popular episodes of Miami Vice in the 80 's,
The movie Manhunter
Care is the best
Jam Science!

Does anyone make music like this anymore.. NO!
The great thing is that no one else made music like this back then either.
