There are 2 types of audiophiles: The ones who spend 10's of thousands of dollars on equipment and think it sounds good, and the type who can scrounge up a vintage system, get a blown speaker box, put new speakers in them, and make them sound better than the thousand dollar systems! Not saying expensive systems are crap, but I'd rather get one for a good deal.
The backgorund music already tells that the guy is not an audiophile. He is just a common audio lover who wants to share or perhaps encourage other noobs. So lets just pretend to miss the audiophile title and enjoy the video.
@themasterofmovies You are mostly correct it really depends if you are talking retail or specialized cables. A lot of it is chasing thin air, but if you know what you are buying and do your research you can build a really nice system on the cheap.
I really like your comment. i agree and support it very much. I believe that generally everyone has a different preference and taste in equipment and speakers, and to him/her it will sound the best but again, it's to their ears not yours or mine.
Oh 10 months old comment haha, thanks for letting me know I like how much better lossy quality wise ogg is compared to mp3. But I didn't know ogg could hold lossless codecs in a container like format. Sort of like mkv is for video and mp4 and such. Thanks for the information. ^_^
ogg as most people refer to it is not lossless. though ogg is a container much like MP4, so it is theora you mean to say that is not lossless. You can use lossless codecs in the .Ogg container.
@bcdhifi An audiophile, from Latin audio "I hear" and Greek philos "loving," is a hobbyist who seeks high-quality audio reproduction via the use of specialized high-end audio electronics. This can be as close to the live performance as possible or to measure up to the standards of the individual who owns the equipment. While often trying to be as close to the live performance as possible, it can also be simply to please a very well trained ear.
I love stereo's and appreciate everything about the hobby. Anyone who refers to themselves as an audiophile though....is a douche. I think he has some nice stuff though. If that ED sub actually gets anywhere near 18hz...it's not pushing out much db, so he's a little full of crap.
@izaatmusic At high levels like that it's hard to really define what audio quality is. Is it how clear the sound is? Then you don't need huge speakers. Some would even say that how "phat your bass" is defines your audio quality. I guess probably an audiophile room though, they tend to waste money on shit you really don't need, a mastering room won't.
if i pair my sony with a pair of tube amps to drive my speakers. really though. if you were an audiophile you would know that the reciever is only a processor for the digital audio. you buy whatever reciever and let the external amps drive the spealers. do you let your car radio drive the speakers or do you use an external amp do the work? the only thing a reciever should do is take the signal decode it and send the audio to the amp and video to the monitor. how do you set your system up?
my sony receiver is just a component switch, my bluray player decodes my movies and sends the signal in analog to the sony my cd player decodes the cde and sends the signal in analog to the sony. then the sony sends the signal to the crossover then to the amps then to the speakers. thats how its supposed to be set up. im considering on getting a processor which does not have an amp like recievers do but does the same job except you cant hook up speakers to it.
@rubendario2779 Mostly yes. A $30 cable is better than a $2 cable but a $500 cable is not better than a $30 cable. Not sure about power conditioners. Audio equipment is very sensitive and the power in the wall is really dirty. In theory cleaner power would produce better sound, but i'm not sure if it actually does.
Jeezus, what is WRONG with people?! This man took his time to want to share his passion of music and audio with you the public, and most of you act like utter fools, and want to read him your version of 'the riot act'! Pathetic. 'ByMinotti', thank you for sharing!
Jim I am from tobago are you still living in Trinidad I too am on my way to becoming an audiophile as well are there any audiophile communities in Trinidad?
Advent speakers, harmon kardon receiver, and the rest of your setup have nothing to do with audiophile grade gear. And a center channel sitting on a 200 watt subwoofer is also a nono
Jed You must have your surround sound system in your loft were the acoustic vibration travels though your wood floors given you the illusion of lower frequency higher quality vibrations. I can build to speakers that will be equivalent to his surround sound. and by the looks of it,he's invested probably over 5000 dollars in stereo equipment, amplifiers and line conditioners. waste of money. my two speakers can be ran off of a basic $800 receiver and without any expensive subwoofers or amplifiers
you guys commenting on his system not being audiophile are basing this on what? the price of his stuff. watch this video (A Brief Journey Through Audiophilia) the price you pay for equipment has nothing to do with it. everyone knows that spending a lot of money on a system is plain stupid and a waste. if you want good sound get a turntable vinyl analog recordings a good external amp and some nice speakers im looking at getting a preamp processor i seen a nice 9.2 and maybe using tube amps.
@lyokofans Audiophiles are peopple who spend money in useless things, such as very expensive cables and all of things that they think improve de sound, with any idea of eltrectronics, they hate digital sound, and play very old records in expensive turntables... An audiophile is not a person who knows electroacoustics is a man who has a lot of money... that's all...
I like that you say that you are an audiophile.. Then i dont know what i would call my self, your system compared to mine.. I live for my music, and every month i am trying some new products to compare with others. The HK amp says it all. Sorry but it is all mainstream talk, and your products are not near high end, you JUST have a surround system, nothing more..
everyone knows that its not how much you spend on a receiver. you buy the receiver for its inputs and dolby decoding. audiophiles will take a true 5.1 and turn it into a soundstage with amplifiers and good speakers. i have a sony str-de935 with .8%THD and can make it sound better than your pioneer .05%THD with the right amps. what kind of speakers are you using. hell im running a 160GB ipod with 320kbps compression using the internal dac.
@qweghk Yeah the guy is not an audiophile... Audiophiles are peopple who spend money in useless things, such as very epensive cables with any idea of electroacoustics...
@lyokofans To know electronics is good or bad? Tell me... And anythig I say couldn't change your point of view and any thing you say couldn't change mine, I don't know what did you mean when you say somethine nice? Nice music? nice sound?, the quality sound is not "nice ", it is measured with technical parameters good frequency response, signal to noise ratio eTc.. Anyway it's just me an engineer. And who designed al the electronics, apmplifiers and the speakers you have? AN ENGINEER!
@lyokofans High end??? what is this? I'm an electronic engineer I'm not a man who expend money in useless things, such as wires or expensive thhings... Again I'm an engineer!!! Who are you???
The best sound posible is easy to get, not with expensive equipment, not with magical expensive cables, not with expensive amplifiers Mcintosh, only with a simple gear, with the right speakers, a well designed amplifier and great music, that's all; for me the Hi End audio is a fake!, and it is based in the subjectivity of peopple.. There's an article in the Internet, it's called "las 10 mentiras del audio Hi end", is in spanish,, or in english would be: "The 10 lies of High End Audio"
@themasterofmovies Yeah, a very well trained ear! This is not true, this is the biggest lie in the hi end audio, you need a very well trained ear to hear de difference in the very expensive equipment that audiophiles buy... ja ja ja. There is a test between a Mcintosh amplifier (very expensive), and a non expensive amplifier, both with the same speakers, most of the peopple said that the best was the non expensive equipment, so hi end audio is a fake!!!
@MrMobsta55 Another one who believes that the cables makes a difference in audio... ja ja ja, Do you know something about transmission lines? do your homework and find out what are the effects in the cables in audio frequency, the effects are only present in radio frequency...
By listening to your voice I can tell your room has poor acoustics. So many people boast about their expensive gear but what they actually listen to is just a nasty mixture of resonances and echoes.
No te degrades diciendo que eres audiófilo... los audiófilos son crédulos que compra un montón de tonterías sin un minimo conocimiento de electrónica...
This clip is nothing more than a talking head who wants to be seen on YT. It's nothing much to do with audio hardware, and what audio hardware is seen is not impressive.... This clip is limp.
This system is one step up from a boom box but that's about it. Your car sastem is all flea market grade as well. Sorry, you may wAnt to change the title of your video
It stuff is shit u need a velodyne subb and b&w sanus faber or mcintosh speakers and krell components and transparent cables and ur headphones suck 2 u need a pair of headphones from grado the sp1000 about 1,700 better thn senheisr
cool home and car stereo. The car is awesome also. thanks for sharing your video with all of us. I like Alphine also.
There are 2 types of audiophiles: The ones who spend 10's of thousands of dollars on equipment and think it sounds good, and the type who can scrounge up a vintage system, get a blown speaker box, put new speakers in them, and make them sound better than the thousand dollar systems! None of this equipment is close to being audiophile, just consumer stuff at best. Also real audiophiles done use receivers btw
fo the money is very nice system !!!
@themasterofmovies You are mostly correct it really depends if you are talking retail or specialized cables. A lot of it is chasing thin air, but if you know what you are buying and do your research you can build a really nice system on the cheap.
I wonder if one of these guys would have an aneurism if they saw what was in my trunk a couple of years back lol.
I really like your comment. i agree and support it very much. I believe that generally everyone has a different preference and taste in equipment and speakers, and to him/her it will sound the best but again, it's to their ears not yours or mine.

audiophiles don't use harmon kardon integrated amplifiers from best buy
This guy is a mid-fi fan. It's cool. My system is about mid-fi too--bang for the buck.
ogg as most people refer to it is not lossless. though ogg is a container much like MP4, so it is theora you mean to say that is not lossless. You can use lossless codecs in the .Ogg container.

I realize my commment doesnt make sense either. I meant Vorbis is the lossy codec. Theora is the video codec you can use in Ogg.
@izaatmusic At high levels like that it's hard to really define what audio quality is. Is it how clear the sound is? Then you don't need huge speakers. Some would even say that how "phat your bass" is defines your audio quality.

For all the beats fanboy who watch this video, now you know that audiophiles don't use beats. Hope dre and loving sees this vid

can you mention where in long island you purchased these speakers.wanted a pair for years.
@bcdhifi so if his defininition of an audiophile is not accurate, and it's his opinion, neither is yours.
my sony receiver is just a component switch, my bluray player decodes my movies and sends the signal in analog to the sony my cd player decodes the cde and sends the signal in analog to the sony. then the sony sends the signal to the crossover then to the amps then to the speakers. thats how its supposed to be set up. im considering on getting a processor which does not have an amp like recievers do but does the same job except you cant hook up speakers to it.

@rubendario2779 thats because to bring out the full potential of the Mcintosh amp, you also need better speakers.
Not really an audiophile quality system. But if you like it then good for you.
Jeezus, what is WRONG with people?! This man took his time to want to share his passion of music and audio with you the public, and most of you act like utter fools, and want to read him your version of 'the riot act'! Pathetic. 'ByMinotti', thank you for sharing!

Wich is the manufacter and the model of the towers?
Calls himself an audiophile but has to read what he owns off a paper.
HA HA HA HA
And what does it sound like? I can say whatever as well about my system.
just wondering is the guy in the video .. from trinidad and tobago?
Advent speakers, harmon kardon receiver, and the rest of your setup have nothing to do with audiophile grade gear. And a center channel sitting on a 200 watt subwoofer is also a nono
Audiophile??? I like jokes.

after u said ogg you lost me, a good format is in a Super Audio CD
wheres the turntable??
@themasterofmovies Better speakers... yes! But cables and power conditioners???? That's a fake!

y u even add that background music. can't hardly hear what ur sayin
To someone who has no knowledge of audio whatsoever, he may sound smart.
ogg is not lossless yo!
dont let this video fool you guys, he's taking the piss.... haha, hilarious vid bro, good comedy.

@rubendario2779 Clearly you know nothing about high end sound. When you actually hear something nice let me know.
JAJAJAJA
:(
@lyokofans And thisis the last time I waste my time answering to you
5000 was over exaggerating. just like this guy's video. "18 hertz" from that subwoofer, give me a break. 18 hertz is not even audioable.
This is THE absolute fail :((
I mean alpine sorry
By listening to your voice I can tell your room has poor acoustics. So many people boast about their expensive gear but what they actually listen to is just a nasty mixture of resonances and echoes.
@lyokofans High end is a fake!
I smell a rat
audiophile, but doesnt know his equipment by heart xD
epic fail xD
@rubendario2779 Whatever...
I thought 'audiophiles' had taste. His gear is utter drap!
no no no no no not true
No te degrades diciendo que eres audiófilo... los audiófilos son crédulos que compra un montón de tonterías sin un minimo conocimiento de electrónica...
the only audiophile gear in your set up are your headphones, the rest garage sale quality
Is this guy FOR REAL?????
Pleeeezzz tell me this is a comedy skit!!!!!!!
This clip is nothing more than a talking head who wants to be seen on YT. It's nothing much to do with audio hardware, and what audio hardware is seen is not impressive.... This clip is limp.
"1 one inch tweeter right up top here. And also 2 six inch woofers" That is not audiophile lingo lol You didn't explain anything...
You call THAT an audiophile system?! You need to get out more...
This system is one step up from a boom box but that's about it. Your car sastem is all flea market grade as well. Sorry, you may wAnt to change the title of your video
It stuff is shit u need a velodyne subb and b&w sanus faber or mcintosh speakers and krell components and transparent cables and ur headphones suck 2 u need a pair of headphones from grado the sp1000 about 1,700 better thn senheisr
no room treatment. sounds like cheap chinese made system.
no turntable...pffff
Not that great of a system...blah.
