Really captures how different FRLG sounds, even in the same engine! Nice work!

Exactly! FRLG tends to give the gameboy channels much more of a main role in its songs, where RSE mostly uses them for secondary melodies. I've also noticed that overall FRLG's songs are somewhat simpler and focus on having different tracks do separate things rather than, for example, a channel doing the same thing as another just one octave lower.
Route 1 is kinda weird though, it's quite different from the other songs in the way it is structured, which makes me think that it was composed either rather early or really late into development.
Because it sounds nothing like the other route themes, even though they consistently use the same instruments and style (then again it could just be a stylistical choice to have route 1 sound like this and I'm just speculating over something stupid haha)
Considering how quite complicated route 1's midi file is, I think that it being a late addition is more probable, especially because it shares some traits with the songs exclusive to emerald, which were presumably composed later than the songs in FRLG, possibly around the time FRLG was released.

@@krissem11 Actually, now that you mention it, Route 1 really is different! Everything else has a certain sound to it, but Route 1 just goes off on its own little journey. And I'd wager the reason FRLG uses all of its channels for different things is because the original soundtracks had to do the same, doing a lot with a little. They likely carried that philosophy over into their rearrangements to sound more faithful to the originals.
