Every power supply unit that failed on me was due to bad diodes or mosfets, from phone chargers to PCs, so that's a good starting point. Sometimes when one component goes bad it takes out other components with it. Even if you can't repair the dead board it's a good idea to keep it as a donor board, to take components out of it in case the new board fails in the future Also be sure to discharge the big capacitor, it can keep its charge for a while and shock you really bad

she melted my brain
This really is one of the most attractive things a woman can do. I mean even if she isn’t a professional, just the process of seeing a problem and finding a solution for it
Wow, what a great video, the PS2 was a great console, I hope you continue making these types of videos, in addition to being relaxing, they are very entertaining ❤🤗
Love seeing folks repair rather than throw away. Good for you. Word of caution to you and anyone disassembling PSU’s those big capacitors can be dangerous. I’ll be honest I don’t know much about the PS2 PSU so it might not be a serious concern but I always have an abundance of caution around them, if in doubt leave it unplugged for a good while to discharge.
Great video! Always feels awesome to open something up and repair it. Just recently repaired my Xbox controller, even if it’s simple it feels great to do! Also very relaxing to watch :)
It feels satisfying! 😅 I'm glad you could fix your Xbox controller 🎮
nice
The memories man…🥲, thanks for this video Catplant.
Really enjoyed the video. You should try Dark Cloud II for the PS2!!
This was really interesting and a really unique idea for an asmr video. Will def be checking out your other work
Wow this was exciting to watch! I’m glad you got it working again! It takes me back to when these PS2s had issues with reading PS1 and PS2 CD ROM discs and you had to open them up and adjust the laser lens distance. I had a friend who thought he could do it but ended up making my PS2 worse. Not only did it not read PS1/2 CD ROM discs but the memory card reader didn’t work anymore 🫠 oh fun times! lol Also good choice of games you got! I wonder if we’ll see a play through of SH2? That would be awesome!
