  • British Prime Minister Keir Starmer says his government will not continue with the previous Conservative government’s policy to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda.
“The Rwanda scheme was dead and buried before it started. It’s never been a deterrent,” Starmer tells his first news conference, after his Labour Party won a landslide in the general election.
“I’m not prepared to continue with gimmicks that don’t act as a deterrent,” he says, describing it as a “problem that we are inheriting”.
The news conference followed Starmer’s first Cabinet meeting.
The contentious law was approved by Parliament in April and the authorities started detaining asylum seekers in May.

Washington can rely on a slavishly obedient UK government, Washington's blood soaked, carnage laden forever wars shall find no greater or more enthusiastic spear-carrier. Vote often, vote harder, vote like you really mean it this time, your choices are and shall always be Thatcher or Blair. You've chosen your next Blair, that's nice.

I'm not sure why you're ranting about the _US-UK_ _Special_ _Relationship,_ which is actually an old and unrivaled international partnership among the *5-EYES* members and the Anglosphere + America; i.e., Australia, Canada, New Zealand, USA, and the UK.
It's easy to forget that the US and the UK are two separate nations. London isn't America's lapdog. If it were, neither Sunak, Blair, Thatcher, nor Churchill would have lost power and their premiership.
Also, the UK would still be a member of the EU[1]. Unlike Russia, Iran, North Korea, and the CCP, Washington, DC, has loyal international allies. Most of whom are other liberal democracies willing to give up some national sovereignty in exchange for US military protection, economic trade, access to American technology, media, drugs, internet, finance, and in support of maintaining the US-led geopolitical hegemony.
      _______________________________
[1] The US position on Brexit supported London remaining in the EU. The UK partially defended Washington's foreign and business interest in the EU.

Maybe you guys need to take a chill pill. Coming from a country where every seat in the Lower House of Parliament was won by the current government twice in a row after a terrible eleven years by the previous administration, it was hard at first to hear that things will take a while to get better and that tough decisions will have to be made. It will take time and the path will be rocky, but on that journey, once there is honesty and forthrightness, people will come to understand and appreciate the efforts being made.
I wish your country all the best.

And there we are. Millions of £s spent on the rwanda bill to deter migrants and now labour fully opens the door. Well done all those who voted labour. This is the final nail in the coffin to this country. Can you imagine how much we owe Rwanda and how much is going to be paid to Rwanda for pulling out of a deal? Unbelievable.
