Once you make it through White Pepper and Chocolate and Cheese, I highly suggest checking out Ween Live in Chicago (2003) on youtube. Imo the greatest concert of all time, and their live renditions of even their super weird songs are absolutely killer!
It really felt like Ween was on a quest to prove to the world that not only were they a great band that could play a wide range of genres, but they were absolutely fucking legendary when they did the Mollusk/White Pepper/quebec run of albums.
ALL OF MY WEEN NERD KNOWLADGE FOR THIS VID 39:10 Little fun fact In Weens first two albums they would record over tapes of other music, and on four tracks leading to the rough (BROWN) sound their first three albums are associated with. The reason I bring this up is on their first album there is a song called "Birthday Boy". At the end of that song you can hear part of the studio version of Echoes by Floyd because they recorded over it. Funny coincidence you made that connection. 33:35 Its not Chicago. Its Hershey PA, hense the name chocolate town.
I love how in Zoloft they even managed to audibly include the brain zaps and paranoid black helicopters in there. Really did such a great job putting the entire pharmaceutical experience into song form.
When I finally cold-turkeyed off that shit, the brain zaps were intense, but I felt more as though it was a camera shutter going off. Weird feeling. That "anti-depressant" did not help me at all. So incredibly numb and the apathy was terrible.
22:52 funny you mentioned south park, Ween are good friends with Matt and Trey. Matt and Trey directed the music video for Even If You Don't from the White Pepper album and even recently did a South Park 25th anniversary tour with Primus and Ween. Ween are also in the Chef Aid episode of south park
Chocolate Town is a reference to Hershey, Pennsylvania not Chicago. They wrote it about their friend who got arrested for drug possession. Thank you for listening can’t wait to see more ween on here!
You might already know, but King Gizzard also have a couple of albums that are all over the place in terms of sound! There's Gumboot Soup, which was mostly made up of leftover songs from the other 4 albums of 2017, and Omnium Gatherum, which is VERY long (the first track is 18 minutes and the rest of the album is another hour!) but it has such great flow between the tracks despite how different they are! Edit: I just realised you already reacted to OG haha, but I guess there's still Gumboot Soup!
Chocolate and Cheese, White Pepper, 12 Golden Country Classics are all phenomenal classic Ween Albums. If you want to check out their earlier work, I’d recommend the album Pure Guava. When they made that album they took a bunch of magic mushrooms and made the album in like 2 or 3 days. They gave so much incredible music. You definitely need to check them out live in concert.
not sure if anyone has said this yet but you talking about the album cover for the mollusk reminded me that it was made by the same guy who did pink floyd's album covers, his name is Storm Thorgerson
Just my humble opinion, but I think White Pepper is a better than Quebec. I definitely recommend checking out more of their albums; you won’t regret it.
I repeat for those in the dark, Jack Black is happily married with several children to Gene Weens ex gf. Not being a raging alcoholic is helpful when seeking a life partner.
@@Kittiekonfuzed both boys lived in new hope pennsylvania most of their lives (gene moved to new york at some point, not sure where he is now), which is about two hours from hershey, where the chocolate company was founded

pure guava stands alone as the goat of all ween albums
Dang finally somebody says it
this man is screaming backwards in the sand
When we doing THE POD
this man is not ready for the brownness of the pod
I'd like to start with basket of chips
just chuck him in the deep end lol
Dr. Rock!

Since you said you liked the beatles-ness of one of the song you have to do White Pepper next

Zoloft live is insane too

I love your reactions to ween! "I don't want it" reaction was so good!🤎
Highly suggest California by Mr. Bungle now that you're on the 'weirdcore' journey
If he does that, we need Sailing the Seas of Cheese by Primus!
Yeaaaah, I suggested it on this stream and on his discord
Hell yes!
God this album is incredible. My personal favorite. Or at least the one that hits me the hardest. Argus >>>
you want noise rock check out Z-Rock - Hawaii. When Ween was touring in Japan they hooked up with The Boredoms and made this crazy album.
The Meadow is dope
This album has 3 of the top 10 songs of all time. only heard it maybe 5 years ago but damn has it hit/changed my life.
which 3?
only 3?
@@yangango9900 The Fucked Jam, The Fucked Jam, & The Fucked Jam
So happy to see you continue your Ween journey!! Can't wait for you to get to their first 3 albums, they are SO weird
Me too.

Fucked Jam is a necessary track for me. I need the break and laugh so I can stop crying after I Don't Want It.
the album is all over the place but with a great flow . . . love it.

chocolate town is actually about hershey PA
Captain is so intense, for anyone that partakes in the psychedelics lol you owe it to yourself to throw that song on during a peak

lolol, "whats this noise" @9:30
You have great analysis, I'd love to see you check out Chocolate and Cheese.
Actually, that's on the schedule for me to do on Tuesday, 12/17! I'll be streaming the reaction on Twitch and then uploading it shortly thereafter.
I still prefer the Mollusk from front to back, but Transdermal Celebration and Happy Colored Marbles are on my Mount Rushmore of Ween songs.
you should google santana and ween and see what's special about the guitar solo in transdermal celebration
I see now someone mentioned this in chat
White Pepper and Chocolate & Cheese next!
You can’t everybody whooo-ing all over the place.
I think you’d love white pepper based on your other two reviews.
YEEESSS, I LOOOVEEEE WEEN!!!! 🤎🤎🤎 BROWWNN!!! But how dare you say that about I’m dancing in the show tonight, what is wrong with you
The Caesar Demos…Trust me

Its gonna be a long night was in Tony hawks underground 2
Among his tribe kinda gave me a “green man” vibe by “type O negative”
Now that you've listened to Ween's two best albums I have to see you do a reaction to where it all started with God Ween Satan the Oneness.
We need Chocolate & Cheese first, dropping someone into those this early could kill someone!
@@KittiekonfuzedI started with The Pod and I still like the band.
@@rozbot86 it's just a rough intro for a lot of people, I love The Pod! Hell, it's my favorite album of all time!!

What's it about?
@@Kittiekonfuzed both boys lived in new hope pennsylvania most of their lives (gene moved to new york at some point, not sure where he is now), which is about two hours from hershey, where the chocolate company was founded
Please continue with Chocolate and Cheese
Literally scheduled to listen to that a week from today on Twitch. It should be uploaded shortly thereafter
Please do The Smiths - S/T album
If you could save yourself is way more Lou Reed
You bastard, So Many People is absolutely "People Music" and I hate you for pointing it out lmfao
Your stream viewers trolling you dude just making shit up
Dude, just way way way way way way way way way too many pauses.
Stop bein a hater bro
Listen to the music then. He is just enjoying it at his own pace
I’d rather him pause than talk over the music.
