- As usual, things don't go as planned! The tires on the Freedom Hauler are worn so Dave decides to get new ones, change the valve stems to metal, grease the axle and adjust the alignment. Wait until you hear the Walmart Story...and he didn't punch anyone out.

Dave, measure front and back of tires at the same point at center of tread. Try loosening the jam nuts on both sides. Leave the bolts in just like they are. Put a pipe wrench on the pipe and try to turn it. Tighten jam nuts back. Hope this helps.
Good thought, but unfortunately, there is a steel plate in the middle of it which won't let the rod spin.
Hey Dave when you do get to adjust the toe-in with the wheels are in the straight ahead position measure front and back of the tire and it should be the same on the front of the tire and rear more than 1/16 of a inch the tires will wear preferably 1/16 less in front than in the rear to make up for any looseness

At least it was a tie rod end that would not turn and not a lug nut on a flat tire. Back many years ago, I had a flat tire, and the spare tire rim was a different size and would not fit on the axil. I guess the RV came into the dealer without a spare, so the dealer grabbed a rim (any rim) and mounted a tire (any tire) on it, and hung it on the back bumper. Fortunately, the service center I called felt sorry for me and only charged me for the rim and not for the road side service, IF I promised him that I would yell at the dealer!! I had no problem agreeing to comply!

Yesterday I couldn't spell mechanic today i are one. They just put bodies in shops anymore. I realized I found this in the late but to do toe adjustment take a tape measure front and rear closest to the middle and make it even for zero toe

I agree with dav. Walmart is not the place to change out tires. Go to discount tires they do a good job.
We've used Discount Tires in the past and they are good. Unfortunately, there wasn't one near us.

Lubricate up that king pin. Yeah that’s what she said. Hahahahha. It’s the principle of the matter when you walk into any store. When you ask for a service do it. Balance the freaking tires. I stopped going to wal mart tire service centers two years ago. They put the wrong oil filter on the car and did not align the tires. That was my last straw.
Listen learned here too. If you want it done right, do it yourself.

You are correct about the screw threads, but not all of them are that way.

It's puzzling to me why anyone would apply for a position as a mechanic and have no idea what they are doing. Oh wait!! Yeah I do. It's called despiration hiring. All they need is a warm body. And don't get me started on stealerships. After they see you the car they don't want you to come back any more. Unless you want to buy another car. God help you if you do.
