OMG thank you so much for this, every Bungle song is completely different, this is one of their least complex songs, it's as simple as it gets on this one, I have some amazing live performances on my channel, maybe try ''Travolta' next or 'Ars Moriendi'

Hahaha. I've got some amazing live performances on VHS tape! As in those brick shaped black things that looks like a cassette (whatever they are, says the youth, hehe).
I think I should find a way to upload them to the tube.
      Btw, loving your suggestions!

"He'll get it, or he won't" : I think the person thought about Mr Bungle discography as a whole. Because this song is one of their easiest to get into. If you want to take it slow and don't rush into the experimental stuff : keep it to this album. Pink Cigarette, Sweet Charity, Goodbye Sober Day are the most obvious to go next, even if my favorite from this album is Ars Moriendi.
If you want to take a peep a little at the less commercial side of Mr Bungle, but not too experimental : Ars Moriendi, Travolta (Quote Unquote) and Carousel could be some good picks.
"I don't know what's in the background, but I fucking love it" : Well, that is Mr. Mike Patton beat boxing, my guy ;) The man of 1000 voices. Well, I think that's what you were pointing out hahaha.
"Are their songs all different as are FNM's ?" : Well... Quite a lot more different stages here :P Mr Bungle is Patton's experimental project. It is going in every direction possible. Yup. A lot more eclectic than FNM. FNM was the "mainstream/commercial eclectic" I'd say.
Cool reaction as usual ! Have fun on your journey :)

@@roxannemitchell4119 Ah ! Haven't seen your comment about it hahaha. I'm more from the school of "Studio first every time". So I'd go with a studio version, if live it would be a song he already heard ;) But great choice of song you have too ! :P

Fun fact Mike patton main band is actually Mr.bungle. he formed Bungle way before joining Faith no more. Mike agreed to join Faith no more but said only if he can still be in Mr.bungle and also faith no more record label agreed to sign Mr.bungle up for their debut album to make Mike patton happy and make him want to stay in Faith No More. Faith no more is a older band though. Faith no more formed in 1979 but with a different singer. Bungle formed in 1985.

Amazing song. MP does so many different vocals in this, just beautifully. That background sound you were wondering about? Just speculating but he's been known to do a lot of different rhythmic vocal type sounds in a lot of different projects. Just a thought. He has referred to voice as being just another instrument in a band in numerous interviews. Wouldn't be surprised if this is that. Glad you enjoyed this!

As I saw another hint at: that noise you liked and couldn't place early in? Mike beat-boxing. If ever curious I'd say check out a video of him and Rahzel performing Pony.... it's...beatboxing and... different stuff. Mike is sometimes instruments or sound effects on a lot of other people's projects.

Hi, tiger .. :)) Yeah, we have reached Mr. Bungle, yey. : D Look ... Faith No More is Mike Patton`s soul, funk, metal band, that`s how I like to think of them .... Mr. Bungle is ... oh, man .... read my lips: p-u-r-e - c-h-a-o-s ..... !! : D Unexpected & uncontrollable, but in the best possible way. :) It's a band that aims to make fun of almost every possible (more or less known) music or other bands that exist in space, but at the same time - to take the best "juice" from that kind of work and experience. :))) You get it? I see that you have already understood ... :) Because, this song, for example, takes the sound of The Beatles, say ... pleasant music from the 60's and 70's ... :) And this album called "California" ( 1999) is all like that: "light music" of the past, so to speak ... They mostly play a lot of strange and forgotten music genres, like jazz, evergreen, salsa, rumba, waltz, tango ... crazy! : D But they also play a modern techno-disco-electronic stuff ...! : D You will hear the most when you have fun with something from their second, alien artistic album "Disco Volante" (1995). But ...... the real thing is: their debut-album, the eponymous "Mr. Bungle "(1991) introduced that kind of musical chaos basically through a form of taah - daah: circus - carnival - ska music. :))) Now, that's what we're talking about when they are the topic. :) And not only that: their stage appearance was quite bizarre, since everyone wore janitors` cloths and ugly, but funny masks on their faces, and guess who blatantly copied that : yeah, you got it - it was Slipknot, whose frontman C.Taylor simply adores Patton and has been influenced by his singing ever since. ... Now, is all this a little clearer, eh ...? :) But, make no mistake: Mr. Bungle was originally (or still is) a heavy, death-thrash-hard core-metal band, very loud and hard to digest. In fact, in 2020. they recreated their early early 1986 demo called "The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny":))) ... which is all mostly - thrash metal ... very brutal. :) With a change on drummers - Dave Lombardo from Slayer plus additional guitarist - Ian Scott from Anthrax. : D Now, that a line-up to die for. :))) Don't worry, I believe that someone will suggest that you hear something from this latest album, so you will witness their early (heh, and latest) raw energy ... Sorry for this long post, most of these facts are well known to all fans, but I guess you deserve to know that too, so - here it is. :)) And once again - a personal request: please, please, please .... give a "heart" sign to this comment and my latest comments on your FNM reactions, not to be understood as a extortion or anything like that, hahah ..: D Just to know that you managed to read all this and that you appreciated all this useful info, so that I know that it was not in vain ...: / Please. It means a lot to me, and thank you in advance. :) What can I say at the end of this: keep following Patton`s bands - the best is yet to come. :)) Take care, my lad ... C- ya! : D

Okay. Can I just get to the elephant in the room before continuing. I mean you no disrespect best friend, but I wouldn't be a best friend if I didn't point out that I noticed that you paused and had 6 seconds left of the song to go. That's not just 6 normal seconds. That's 6 Patton seconds!!! it is said that each second carrys the same wealth as one bitcoin, if not more. I emplore you to make sure that you watch anything Patton right to the end. As you are quickly learning, Mike can make anything happen in 6 seconds.
Anyway, welcome to Retrovertigo. One of my favorite Bungle songs, on one of my favorite Bungle albums. It's often quoted that California is the most underrated album of its generation.
So 1999, it's been just over a year since my very being was ripped apart when Faith No More officially quit, and my life is restored with California. Little did I know that in just over a year, after having just been floored by the California tour, I would learn that Mr Bungle would be quitting as well.
Sorry, I just needed a moment to dry away a tear. Anyways, I think it is soo wicked that your first exposure to Mr Bungle is Retrovertigo. A masterful first choice. This Bungle adventure is now the equivalent of lying back relaxing in a beautiful big hammock, without discovering that it's actually a trebuchet and you're about to get fiercly flung into the far unknown!! Enjoy the ride!!

Bungle is very experimental and crazy and this song doesn't do them justice in representing them. It's a nice song but I rarely hear it. Songs like "Stubb a Dubb" or "Slowly growing deaf" show how they are more with the whole avante gardne feel. Way more complex songs then this.

Great song, but not representative of the band. If choose any other song, you’d get the love it or hate it explanation.
