I love this song. It is perfect for listening with closed eyes and maximum volume. If you listen to this song more times, it will surely grow in you. Mike Patton, the vocalist, has one of the best voices of the last decades in my opinion. If you want to continue with this journey, the next one that I recommend is "Pink Cigarette". This song also has a fan-made video, that is, it is not official. If you keep exploring this band you will understand some of the influences of A7X.
Yup ! As David Martinez Jr stated : beware ! Not all their albums and songs are as accessible as Retrovertigo and Pink Cigarette. They're the 2 easiest from them to get into, IMO. Their 2nd album - Disco Volante - is so experimental. Their 1st - self titled - is super experimental also, but less than Disco Volante I'd say (pretty easy to be less experimental than that 2nd if you ask me...). Only take a look at their "genre" description on a wiki page per example... You'll get why. If you're ready to go there, you won't be disappointed. If you're not ready, you'll simply shake your head throughout your entire listening. One of the most creative music ever out there.
You finally reacted to this band !!! Unfortunately I think you were more focused on the video than the music, which is normal. This video is not official, it was made by fans. About this song, what I like the most is the lyrics and the voice of the singer in general. At the end of the video you did not know if one or more people sang. Only lead vocalist Mike Patton really sings, which shows his vocal range. I would not tell you that this song represents the band because I honestly do not know if any song does, since they are very varied in their style. It may just not be your type of music. Thanks for taking your time to react to this song!
That's the thing with Mr Bungle : you can't tell it's your genre of music, because they're of no specific genre... All albums are quite different, and all songs got different vibes. The only persons I knew they'd like Mr Bungle are the ones that already were into Zappa, Zorn, or other very ecclectic sounds. If not, that's hit or miss.
@@MightyPee After the debut released, some metal-journalist wrote in metal-hammer magazine _"they sound like a cicus-band on lsd"_ . That stuck to me and it absolutely nails their style. Also counts as an approximation on what to expect sensory-wise.^^ Edit: If not already, try Schizoid Lloyd from the netherlands, Idiot Flesh, U.S. i think, Vladimir Bozar and Ze Sheraf Orkestär from France, Maximum The Hormone, Japan. And last but not least Panzerballet, germans like myself.^^ Please, let me know here, if you know them or, if not, how you like them.
Definitely not the song for the introduction to Mr.Bungle... Of course I love this song and entire album... Just hearing this song🤔 alone is not the best song to be deflowered by🤷🏻♂️
Maybe you should try listening to the track without vide, because your looking to much into what you are seeing and missing the greatness of this SONG! Mike Patton is a prankster who likes to make a mockery of his Incredible work.
Don't be too hard on yourself, I found Mr Bungle because of avenged sevenfold :) I highly recommend the song Pink Cigarette. A little easier listening, an absolutely Gorgeous song with a (typically) unsettling message.
This is one of Mikes best songs, a bit well known but thats because its so diverse. Actually stirs up emotions without any craziness or mad effects. Very powerful tune from Bungle. I over played this tune over the years but still bloody awesome.
Well. Having had my fingers burned messing around, I can't say too much. I was wondering what on earth we were being exposed to, when this video was gathering pace. But the bad boy side in me kept my eye fixed in place. I couldn't help but want to point the finger at almost every politician I know. I was also thinking "what on earth", about the song too, but as it picked up the whole point became clear, and it made sense, making the music correct. At first, I thought, "what a pile of crap". As usual, I was happy to be proved wrong, and justly corrected.. Right people, this is the important thing, Have a very happy and blessed new year. Catch you next year. TTFN
"What a pile of crap" seems to be a general response when people first hear most bands Mike Patton was in, then the strange curiosity kicks in. That's the true appeal of the avant-garde. It only gets stranger, but this band is so interesting and something about it pulls people in like a magnet.
Mr Bungle had definitely influenced A7X a lot. The song Sunny Disposition by A7X is a prime example. On another note, Pain of Salvation is a very underrated prog band whose music I think you would appreciate. Especially songs like Iter Impius, and King of Loss, to start with.
There’s so many different sides to Mr Bungle and I would say this is the more accessible side of them. The video is fan made so nothing to do with the band. The album this song came from is called California and is start to finish a genius musical masterpiece.
This song is about how disgusting it is that society cares for social trends and fashions and culture of the past more than it cares about human suffering. People worship the 1920s and 1960s and 1980s while many others in the world haven't even caught up to the 1900s. Someone somewhere is living in a mud hut and starving right now, and they aren't even privileged enough to say "I was born in the wrong generation" or "take me back to the good old days" when they see someone wearing great retro clothes. Their culture wasn't afforded those same good old days. They can only hope their fortune changes. This music video isn't official, but it captures the message in a pretty interesting way. Obviously you'll get requests for the Avenged Sevenfold cover and that will probably be coming up soon. Squeeze Me Macaroni would be a great Mr. Bungle song to react to a lyric video for at some point in the future. It's much less serious and you'll probably be able to appreciate Mike Patton's crazy vocal range in that song. Happy New Year! 😄
Couple of things: mike patton's lyrics usually don't mean anything, so you probably weren't missing much by not listening to them. Also, the video is fan made, not official.
I've never heard this one, wow I love it, added to my liked songs thank you!
Mike patton is a lyrical genues
True, but Trevor Dunn wrote this track!
@@steroberts I meant in his style and delivery
@@stephengheen1525 I have to agree with you there my man, nobody touches him.

Pink Cigarette is such a classic. 😌
My first time hearing Mr Bungle, I will definitely be checking out more!
they are extreme experimental lol

Say goodbye to everything else.
Don't expect to have a similar experience with the next song you hear, because it is definitely completely different every time.
Mr. Bungle is all ya need.
This is a fan made video, this is not the official video.
Thank you again

This video is a fan made video not by Mr. Bungle. Love this song!
Patton was blessed with the voice of an angel
Don't try to figure out the video.
It's Mr. Bungle. They're a mystery inside a puzzle hidden in a maze.
Mr Bungle laughs in the face of genre
Then puts "genre" face down.

Pink Cigarette might be my fave song of all time. Mr Bungle are the best!

I found this band thanks to A7X. They have very strange songs. I recommend "Pink Cigarette". I think you will appreciate this song more.
Fun fact, Avenged Sevenfold did a cover of this song as well! Hope you check their version of it as well :)
Yes please

My brother and I misheard the lyrics "cynic at best" and were singing "silly cat face" for a month.
That's funny
Nice video now you should check out carry stress in the jaw

Man people need to stop recommending that fan made video lol. It totally takes away from the meaning of the song .

Mike Patton's lyrics don't mean anything? I disagree wholeheartedly.
Bad way to look at it Mike Patton didn't write the lyrics for every bungle song...
