I'm working on memory and i found this video informative
If working memory is like human RAM, then my brain has too many programs running at once.
Attention span.exe has stopped responding.
An error with module.shifttask.lua occured. 'hunger' is not a number.
"THEN CLEAR YOUR TABS AND PROGRAMS"
"But what if i need too listen to shakira again for the 5th time today!!"
"Fair point"
I am just curious why you didn't mention Reading Span Task as a measurement of working memory...to my knowledge they are most widely used.
4 minutes in and i just realized i haven't learned anything that i can repeat, but i understand the definitions of the words as you are explaining them..
Really enjoying this series. 👏👏👏😊
Me too 💙
Come closer lets cry together my fellow ADHD'ers.
Why do I have adhd but this was my highest iq score Lmaoo
83/143 is good or bad? I've got like half of the short memory ones, but all of the long term ones.
I'm onto something here 😐😒
@@ciliberti96 I got 83 too :) don’t know if it’s good or bad..
i needed this lolol
Do not forget people with nlvd
As a guy with severe adhd i have problems with that all but oddly enough, each individual task i'm great at. I can even call 6 and 7 dots without counting.
But i can tell that i often fail to hold these loops, finish the sketches and buffer them long enough
do you masturbate regularly? smoke regularly?
Anyone notice ability is spelt wrong at 5:00?
You've also clearly resequenced the numbers at 2:26 so that they're ascending and descending past each other consequtively in order to desynchronise the left and right brains and cause confusion.
This is definitely an awesome video, BIG LIKE!!!!!
Thanks from Bangladesh
Nice work. There is a lot to it to create video like this. I know it's not easy because I have lots of work doing videos myself. Keep it up! :)
Hey, thanks so much for the video! I actually found the test before the video, so I was just wondering how accurate the percentile ranking you are given is?
The visuospatial sketchpad: since I just see what it looks like to walk there (like a memory of walking there, looking out of my eyes. The landmarks, stores etc. is what I remember, and not a "map" with a line.. does that mean I don't have one of these?
Heya, would you perhaps recommend against multiple attempts? Seems like there’s some type of RNG involved, but I know those online Mensa screens generally recommend against it. Great design though, thank you for sharing!
other than rotation test, is there any other ways to test on the visuospatial sketchpad?
How to improve working memory?
Please tell how can I improve my working memory?
Meditation 🧘♂️
I’m kinda bummed... I did your memory test... was so excited to see me results but at the end it just got stuck with a loading circle. After 10 minutes or so I abandoned it. No results for me :(
I opened the test and the whole page is covered in ads to the extent that I can't see the test questions....
Ok thanks, but can we improve it?
Sir, I know how the engine works, I'm an engineer...
Same here
"Now try and say them in your head, you probably did it blah blah blah" .............um no....that's why I'm watching this video lol
thx this video really helped me
Dopamine in fronta side of increase the working memory the more dopamine means more working memory
How to increase dopamine?
I am a fan of both
What if I'm just bad at maths? 😕
Took the test from the link, but not sure what would be a good percentile to be in. I'm trying to figure out if I have add so I would appreciate an answer
This test isn't going to tell you if you have adhd at all - See a specialist for that. ADHD is a highly complicated and multilayered disorder that doesn't have a one-two step solution to it. If you want to learn more about adhd look up dr. russell barkley on youtube.
Firs Like and First comment. I would like to tell you is a good video
aka "human RAM"
Its more like cache
Volume..?
I got 97/142
Ayyyeee same lol
So if someone has a working memory deficit, they are not intelligent? That’s what I’m hearing with the wording in this video, and it was my understanding that that is not a correct assumption.
Last time I was this early The dinosaurs went extinct.
Ability-correct spelling
The quiz you have made is so annoying lol.!!! I couldn’t even read the full number and the page went to next automatically.!!!! And the page kept loading and shaking. I have good memory but i was extremely frustrated doing ur test
How to improve your working memory
Exercise! Many studies have shown that the parts of the brain responsible for memory and thinking skills is larger in those who exercise: www.health.harvard.edu/mind-and-mood/exercise-can-boost-your-memory-and-thinking-skills
@@data-drivenlifeadvice9318 Total bullshit! I have adhd and they said the same garbage to me. Guess what? Didn't do that jackshit for my memory! I exercised everyday for 4 years straight at least a hour a day. Didn't do a damn thing! I still have trash working memory. I took pills too, so do not start spewing that either. They do not work! This is essentially pseudoscience and cant be 100 percent proven.
@@rohitkavathekar3701 stop with thay negative atitude, jeez. When i used to exercise i was able memorize around 20 digits now not more than 11
@@rohitkavathekar3701 What I do is repeat aloud a random list of words I made up and put on physical cards(from brainhq word list recall words). If you can only repeat aloud 5 words and repeat them back correctly, and can't do 6 words, for instance, what you can read aloud 3 words pause for 1-5 seconds then repeat aloud 3 more words. This allows your mind to absorb the information and not become overloaded(overload causes forgetfulness). Over time you pause for a smaller period of time and then you don't pause at all. I have only practiced using this method so I don't know just how good "regular" practice of just saying the words without a pause, but I suspect it to be not as effective.
I can read aloud 8 words and repeat them back beginning to end without a pause(not every time of course). I started at 3 words the first day and went on to 4 words that day. I'm pretty happy with my progress. I also improved on digit span, and backwards digit span which is a measure of working memory. I'd classify this exercise as short term memory primarily, but it still is better than doing nothing. The exercise takes me 10 minutes a day for and probably in under 6 months you would reach your limit for that exercise. Though I'd say on it's own it's not that great of an exercise on it's own.
I have been just started testing another memory exercise. It involves reading out loud and repeating 7 words for instance then adding one word at a time until reaching 15 words for instance. So going from 7 to 8 to 9 to 10 words repeating each step until you know the words. So far I've got up to 12 words pretty easily but it's my first day. My hypothesis is that I'll become more efficient at remembering a list of 15 words because I'll be more efficient at holding larger numbers of words in my head. The reason why I don't think the first exercise is not so great is because I repeat the words back and forget them after I say them. So I believe this exercise is going to be a game changer if done for months. This is because I used to not be able to read aloud 8 words and repeat them back from beginning to end. Now I can in just a day of practice which I still can't believe.
The benefits I've noticed is that in conversation I can remember much more of what has been said without really trying that hard. It's easier for me to memorize words. Also it's easier for me to hold a definition in my head or read a longer sentence in a book and understand it. I don't have to reread sentences as much anymore. Also with studying geography, I can memorize in bigger chunks now. It depends but holding 4-6 states or countries in my mind is doable when before I was at 3. I am just being realistic though. Though I must say that this exercise is a 30 hour commitment, it's well worth the time in my opinion. Just don't expect great changes. Also I stopped doing the exercise and remained at the same level pretty much. However I'm getting back into it.
I must say though the first exercise improves short term memory. Though it takes short term memory to commit information to long term memory. Hope it helps.
Your voice is nice. It sounds like you're cute😳
BAHAHAHHAHA
I gained working memory by practicing meditation but lost immidiately as i ejaculated!!
It happend several times.....now i lost any hope to gain back my working memory
Given: I didnt watch porn while ejaculation!!
IQ has nothing to do with success. Evidence-based research in psychology shows that self-discipline is by far the most important predictor of someone’s success
IS BY FAR the most important predictor of someone's sucess. Doesnt mean iq has nothing to do with the success maam. success is an perception of every single person.
It is a lot more likely a high IQ person to delay instant gratification and focus on the bigger picture
The test doesn’t give a result. Just sent me to an advertising page. Don’t take. Not worth the time.
took so long too!
You lost me when you connect working memory with intelligence. There is a whole group if individuals, called 2 e or twice exceptional, that are gifted/highly intelligent and have issues with working memory. They can use executive functioning systems that help support working memory and allow them to show how intelligent they are. I would challenge you to redefine intelligence.
“Iq” as a proxy for general intelligence “g”, isn’t one number. When people say IQ, what they mean is FSIQ (full scale IQ), which is a type of weight average of Perceptual reasoning index (PRI), Verbal Comprehension Index(VCI), Working memory index (WMI) and Processing Speed Index (PSI).
The issue is that this is not widely understood in talking about how we measure intelligence. Oftentimes, when you just measure one of those scores (PRI is easiest) you will understand your FSIQ as every other index is normally within ~5 points of each other. A measureable issue can arise when one of these indices are noticeably different than the other (significant standard deviation beyond 3 deviations), such as ADHD having a significantly lower WMI in comparison to the other indices.
What can shed light for you is General Ability index (GAI) and Cognitive Proficiency Index (CPI), GAI is one half of FSIQ, as it’s the weighted average of just PRI and VCI, what this measures if the full potential of some ones intelligence, and on the flip side CPI is a weighted average of WMI and PSI which indicated how well someone can use their potential intelligence.
2e illustrates when high GAI is not matched with CPI. ADHD separates GAI and CPI more than most people, but high IQ ADHD is a prime example of the degree of separation, which can be called 2e.
I hope this helps.
@@flamingmuffin666 how do you suggest to improve on all of these areas ? Not just one of it is it possible?
@@rise4901 there’s a lot of genetic and physiological controls that are at play, so you really can’t improve them. What ends up happening is that you can just memorize the “problem solving strategy” of various problems. This is why you can score higher on an Iq test by doing them repeatedly, but if you stop for 6 months (which is required for an iq to be valid) the score is back to your base intelligence.
It’s simultaneously the most statistically robust concept in psychology, and kind of damning in that we are stuck with what ever intelligence our brain allows us to have.
So to actually answer, lol, would be keep on top of problem solving strategies and some drugs have the effect of countering physiological oddities in the brain. (Which is why adhd is prescribed stimulants, the working memory is stimulated to try to operate on the same level as the rest of the brain)
@@flamingmuffin666 so how much do you think iq plays role in academic sucess for eg in investment banking and consulting roles not in higher level quantum physics and maths. I have noticed I do better than most of the people but I have seen gifted people and I don't see myself on their level. So much sucess is actually directed dependent on iq honestly?
@@rise4901 I’ve seen a lot of hand waving within psychology around 60% intelligence, 40% hard work, determines what you can do. Think of intelligence like a coefficient on how productive a given unit of work is, and the level of information retention/easy of information maintenance.
Someone with 110 iq and 130 iq, can both be medical doctors, but the 110 will have to spend more workhours on information gathering, solving and maintence than the 130. But it’s also only a probability, as temperament and personality also add to fine tune this process (there’s a massive link between the amygdala and the prefrontal cortex, which is to simply say emotional investment in the intellectual problem maximizes your potential).
So if the 130 MD, doesn’t care, they won’t work anywhere near their potential, but if the 110 iq doctor absolutely loves the job then then how they perform will be be better than the more “intelligent” doctor.
