  • I do a quick update on the assembly argument at school but the bulk of this video is about what a mixed up individual I can be sometimes.
I’ve spent the past two weeks unimaginably stressed out about a wedding I didn’t want to goto. To the point where I was panicking about it late Friday night trying on clothes and negotiating exit times with Claire.
I don’t really get why it happens considering how often I quite happily stand up in front of large crowds or put myself out there online. It’s weird and contradictory.
I talk about how the wedding went and how Oli managed the evening part too.

Small talk can be really anxiety provoking, especially in a situation where you don't know anyone! The different thing about a talk or a podcast or a presentation is you're speaking about a subject you know a lot about and you're also in control of how things go.

I have pretty bad GAD which stops me from attending lessons at school sometimes, having freak outs out my hospital appointments and a whole load of panic attacks at school, anxiety it really confusing and makes no sense! Avoidance is a lot of how I deal with it, building my life around what triggers it, and if I’m going somewhere that makes me anxious (like school, hospital, supermarket) I’ll take my headphones as they provide some familiarity and help me shut off from it.

Avoidance is the way for me too - I don’t go out after work for any evening events or visit customers because it just makes me anxious. Until I’ve got a handle on it I don’t want to do it.

Hi sheepdog, completely have the same anxiety, I’m a subscriber to you and Kev and the mgp pod, and would love to come up from Croydon for the mgpx in July but my anxiety and shyness really makes me chicken out ( I know pathetic for a 30 yr old man lol) but keep up the good work mate and hopefully Saturday is amazing 🤞🏻 COYS

Sorry to hear it! I don’t know why MGPX is different - maybe it’s the control. But I’m excited about that. If we can do anything to help you feel less anxious about it let us know.

Know exactly how you feel on this one. Can't deal with social situations at all, fckng hate them. Worked at same place for more than a decade, but won't go to any nights out. I end up having (HAVING) to drink. And drink. Apparently I can be an annoying so and so at that point. So no more.

Emily Says: check p 92 of 0-25 Code of Practice: "Schools must ensure that children and young people with SEN engage in the activities of
the school alongside pupils who do not have SEN" quote to school, it is illegal to have not made any effort to include your son, please contact SEND team at the local authority and start recording everything in emails, tell school you are contacting LA, you cannot wait for school to do things you have to tell them what they are supposed by law, to doxxx

If you wait, your son will end up dropping out of school like mine, you have to be really proactive, its hard work, but the alternative is a lot worse, believe me. Contact your local parent partnership service and ask for their advice and input, you should be having TAF/TAC meetings to discuss how your son can be supported, all professionals involved in his support should be there including any from an autism service if he has not yet been diagnosed, check your schools policy on SEND and make sure they are following itxx

Thanks for these. In our next meeting (it’s school holidays this week so it’s Monday we go in) we will be raising this but I’d asked what clauses etc to quote and hadn’t heard back so you’ve essentially given me them. I appreciate the help!
