I hope this helps anyone who feels like toys are taking over your home! It is possible to have an aesthetic/calm soace and also let your kids be kids, even in a small space! 🤗
I want to say thank you for recommending that people donate unwanted things to domestic violence charities. The last few months my baby and I have been living on the donations like that. For the organisation I want to get some containers for his toys. I like your idea of clear boxes so children can see. Although he is currently at the dump and take everything out stage...lol

I ❤️ organizing & you do it so well❣️
Why would other viewers have such negativity on the way you raise your girls. It’s clear to me that you take the job very seriously❣️I love your videos & how upbeat you are in them.
Viewers: please be kind 🙏🏻
I do take it seriously ❤️ thank you so much for noticing
Curtains behind the couch will still look good! Girlie, treat yoself to a cord-free vacuum! I never thought a vacuum type would greatly alter my life until I finally got a battery vac this past year. It's everything and more, I promise. Especially since you've got a fur baby in addition to your two sweet girls ^.^
I’ve been thinking about it! But there’s so many on the market that it’s hard to choose one!
Even though you have a small, but beautiful home you have done a great job by keeping everything organized. 👍🏾👍🏾
I try my best 😊
@@lovinglifeasmegan you do great! 👍🏾👍🏾
If you don't plan on pulling the couch away from the walls to accommodate the curtains, I would try Roman shades. But dust catchers (curtains) would really soften up the space. Great job decluttering! 💖
We don’t have enough space in the room to pull the couch away from the wall ☹️
Thank you for your donation to the shelters
❤️
Yes, curtains would look nice, but I agree that curtains with the sofa pushed up against them looks kinda weird. One thing I've done in the past is to put wood blocks behind the legs of a sofa to hold it away from the wall so the curtains hang nicely behind the sofa.
Wooden blocks is a great idea!
I like blinds over my windows, especially the matchstick type because they’re so inexpensive and easy to hang. But, I add curtains for the decorative look. They also add coziness. I think curtains would add another layer to your living room, which is always a good thing. Hang them as close to the ceiling as you can. It will make the windows look taller. Do people actually comment that your kids should clean up their toys, and shouldn’t have access to their candy? That’s really weird. Wouldn’t think of it. If I’m going to watch someone’s video who took the time to make it and post it, I’m not going to nag the creator or say negative stuff. I’ve been watching your videos for a minute now, and I really enjoy them. So, you do you Megan!😄😄😄
A lot of people have a lot to say about kids on the internet 🙃 I think it’s ignorant & unnecessary. I’m glad you think so too 🤗 happy to have viewers like you!
I think curtains would be beautiful in there. I love when you declutter & organize the family room!!
Me too! It’s always so satisfying lol
Yes for curtains .I feel they warm up that space. I’m a curtain fanatic. 👍👋🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
I’ve never really used them because we have the wooden blinds, but I like the way they look since I put them in my bedroom, so now I’m thinking about all of the main living spaces as well.
Great video, Megan. I'm not sure why everyone comments about you not having curtains 😂. You have such great toy organization and ideas. I love it. Your girls are so lucky to have a great mom ❤
It’s definitely the number 1 comments, probably tied with all the people who comment that I don’t actually have a small house 🙃
@@lovinglifeasmegan LOL 😂. If you had curtains and a big house, something would be said about that too! You are doing great. I love your channel and your house. You remain my favorite by far ❤️
I saw on the TV you were watching love Meg and I love her too
Yes! She’s been reloading some old videos & I’ve been watching them to help with motivation (and also to show her some support).
I’m the same way…like to put the toys in pretty baskets/bins when they need to be in the living room due to lack of space. It totally works-win win for adults and kids!
Yes!
That art organizer holds so much!!
It does! We love it!
Good job Mom…love the playroom…Roman shades are my suggestion…then you don’t have to worry about the couch and curtains fighting each other…ENJOY…
Thank you!
Great video! I think curtains would definitely pull the whole room together and be even cozier 😊
😊
Yes!!! Absolutely put curtains!!! 😀😀❤
😅 that’s what everyone tells me lol
Our home is 1000 square feet my 2 kids each had a small bookcase in their closets for books and small toys then we had a shelf over their beds for larger toys each of the beds had drawers for all other toys have a lovely weekend pretty lady ❤
I’d love to get my girls storage beds! That’s a great idea!
Megan, this was great. My grandchildren love the art and tiny toys as well. Love it all 💚💚💚💚💚💚
Hopefully this helps if you struggle to keep them organized!
I think curtains would look really nice Megan , it would feel cozy 😊
That’s what everyone tells me lol
Thanks for sharing your expertise and inspiring us to tackle the chaos in our homes! 😍🌟
❤️ thanks for appreciating it!
My boys are 4(almost 5) and 10 and I leave their vday stuff out too. ❤ My kids ask and i also hope that having access to those kinds of treats takes away some of its allure. My husband and I go crazy on snacks and we aways think its because we didn't grow up with it available.
Aloha Megan, hanging curtains will make the room cozy!!!
That’s what everyone says lol
This is great! Currently about to start working on our family/video game room myself. Thanks for the inspiration!
Glad this helped!
I have the flu and don’t feel good but this video was so motivating I wanted to get up and clean with you. Looks great! 🎉
Yay! That’s what I’m here for! 🤗
I have two grandchildren that spend the weekday afternoons with me. My daughter is a teacher, so I don't have them during the summer, though they come visit quite often. Currently all toys are put in a separate room, not accessible to the kids. I have a ladder shelf and those round faux leather bins. I like them for their toys. I agree they are so pretty. Anyway, the toys are taking up the room they are in. Not ready to bring them out of 'quarantine' yet, but I still want to declutter them! Thanks for this video and as always waiting for more!
I hope this motivates you to sort through them so that they feel less overwhelming 🤗
I feel like the room is sooo cozy that maybe instead of curtains you can do some really nice Roman shades like in linen or a little deeper neutral and add a thicker trim around your windows. That way you wont have to worry about your sectional smashing the curtains. Love your space though!
Great idea! Thank you 😊
It bakes be sad that people have to judge of what’s best for you’re family if it is what works that’s what matters. The organizers you got look great! I like the idea of curtains or blinds work nicely too. I got sad news yesterday did myself so you posting a video brings joy to me & I’ll get motivated over the weekend. 💜
I hope everything is okay ❤️
@@lovinglifeasmegan thank you. I had a consultation appointment yesterday and it the results didn’t come out well I have to do surgery not to be tmi and I have endometriosis and they say if it’s bad I have to go into menopause early on in life and I can’t have kids. It’s been an emotional week and rough week got over Covid first the 2nd time and then this happening it’s been rough.
Your play room has come a long way. I remember when you had centers for the toys. ❤
Wow you’ve been watching since the very beginning of my channel then! I set that up in my first year on RUclips, so that my kids could have more organized playtime & so that I could teach them how to clean up lol.
@@lovinglifeasmegan I did the same thing with my kids. Now I have my grandsons stuff set up that way. ❤️
Curtains would look nice. You could have them a length that doesn't cover the box underneath. I like a uniform look, too. My kids are older, but my colour codes of organisers is mostly white. A bright colour here and there is fun as I love bright, but not too much-needed. Great job ❤
It’s been easier for my kids to keep things cleaned up & organized with the clear organizers, but anything that’s left out in the open I try to keep neutral & pretty lol.
Great video I would definitely put up curtains it will finish the room I think
That’s what everyone says lol
Love the video. I’d suggest a woven wood shade or Roman shade or some other kind of window covering before curtains. There are tons of options,
I’ll have to look into those 🤗
Yes definitely curtains would make it cosy looking and finish the windows xx
That’s what everyone says, but I struggle to visualize curtains stuck behind a couch like that
Last 3 homes we had, only window treatments in the bedrooms. We all love looking outside!!! And drapes collect dust
We have the wooden blinds and boy do they gather dust. I would love to take them down but am a little creeped out about when it gets dark.
We have so few windows in our house anyway, so I’ve always been resistant to curtains for that very reason! I don’t want to block off any of the natural light that comes in
O WOWWWW 😮 U DID AN AMAZING JOB ON DECLUTTERING 😊 KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB THXS FOR SHAREING MUCH APPRECIATED N MUCH LOVE LOOK FOWARD TO SEEING UR NEXT VIDEO 😊 I LOVE UR DECOR
Thanks so much!
I think you have enough room in your lounge room to slide your couch out from the walls just enough that you can easily slide your curtains open and closed and I think you'll find that it will help your room feel larger because the curtains will draw your eye up the wall and make your room feel taller. Negative space around furniture can make your space feel larger as well.
It doesn’t work in this room unfortunately
I think curtains would look awesome, something light beige maybe with a black curtain rod, maybe sheer curtains. Something to just warm up the room.
Are there any specific brands or styles you recommend?
@@lovinglifeasmegan I got mine from Target, they’re a light beige with blue under tones, let me find them and I’ll link it.
Mine are the herringbone light filtering striation window curtain panel- cream/blue by project 62. At Target. But I think the cream/gray would match your room well. The curtains are great at keeping the heat in, in the winter and they’re beautiful. Not too dark, not too sheer.
Great job
Thank you!
Love this video..i hit the play button so fast...
Yay! Thanks so much for watching!
I definitely think curtains would look great! Hang them high and wide. Just to frame the window. If you could move your sectional just an inch, your curtains wouldn’t be pinched behind it. This is just my opinion. You know what works for your space! I would never tell anyone this is the way it should be. I love your room! It’s beautiful!❤
I’d love to move my sectional away from the wall, but my family doesn’t know how to just sit down…so they would slam it into the wall…unless I move it all the way to the middle of the room, which would look very odd lol.
@@lovinglifeasmegan oh I get it!!! My granddaughter is 16. She literally flops down on our couch moving it. So I know what you mean.
Looks fantastic!
Thank you!
I love your living room space, it’s a cozy vibe which is exactly what you need for a family space.
Hanging curtains will be a good idea, it will help pull the room together.
Having a clean and organized room always feels AMAZING!!! 😊
It does! I just wish it lasted longer than an hour 🤣
Love this and your channel! ♥
Thank you so much!
Love your videos ❤
Thank you!
Great job with declutter your family room. How about Roman blinds for your windows? 😊
I’ve never heard of those! I’ll have to look them up
Oh nice organized
🤗 I try to be
Hi Megan. Great video as always! What about just a topper or swag curtains that dont go to floor?
I’ll look into them 😊
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
Hola megan excelente depuracion organizacion y motivacion los juguetes en orden 👏👏💪🏡👩👉 desde argentina 🇦🇷💝💞🤗
Thanks so much!
Happy Friday Megan! 😀❤
Happy Friday!
Yes curtains
😊
We're going to do a huge pantry reorganization tomorrow.
I hope you have fun! I reorganized my pantry a few weeks ago 🤗
You do a wonderful job with your home and family! I hate that you (and all RUclipsrs) have to justify why you do things the way you do because people have something to say! Enjoy getting ideas from all my favorite RUclips girlies!
Thank you ❤️
Curtains are ok but you still want natural light coming in so they can see while playing during the day. I would just get curtains that are the same width and length of the window. (Or both windows). That way you can open/close easily. JMO.
Thanks for the suggestion! I agree about the light 🤗
If you do put curtains up I would put them up high to the ceiling so it makes your windows look bigger and then pull the couch away from the walls just a bit so you don't scrunch the curtains. Hope this helps!
We don’t have enough space to pull the couch away from the wall 😩
Well darn
I would consider Roman shades. It would give the softness of curtains but you wouldn’t have to deal with the length of curtains smashed between your sofa and wall.
I’ll look into them 😍
How about shutters like your other room xx loving your vlogs xx
I don’t think I want to do shutters on our windows. Maybe shades or curtains though
You could try a valance for that window or a swag you don't absolutely have to have long curtains you have the blind for privacy !!!
I’m afraid that would look too similar to a kitchen window
❤❤
Thanks so much for watching! 😊
Curtains but put blocks behind the sofa legs so the sofa doesn't get pushed back against them.
Great idea!
What would you recommend in kids bedroom for toy organization? Such as barbies n small pieces?
The same acrylic bins that I have in this video. Just put them on a self, or in a bookcase maybe.
❤️
❤️
Me and my sister ask my mom if we could eat anything in the fridge and we are like in our 30's (This is how it is in respect and also so we don't eat anything that is ment for a recipe that day)
Few years back her sister came and gave her a big amount of money and my mom kept it on the table and her sister said "your girls are at home, don't you want to hide the money from them so they won't take it?"
my mom laughed and was like they won't, they ask me if they can eat stuff from the fridge.. and her sisters face dropped. 😂😂😂
Right! I trust my kids because they’ve shown me that they are trustworthy ❤️ I’m glad that you also have that relationship with your mom.
So you’ve been taught not to be comfortable in your own home?
@@youtubeacc very much comfortable!!! 😋😋😋😋
My daughters are grown. But I have three dogs. Only one really plays with the toys. And he drags them all over the living room and our bedroom. He also chews on blankets. So he hide the toys under the blankets and you step on them and the blanket squeaks. When my daughters were young. They slept in the same bed. And we had a playroom. They usually kept it fairly clean. But if any other kids came over forget it. It was trashed. The good thing was I could just close the door and deal with it the next day. I now have a huge basket and I keep toys in it for my grandkids. They all know where it is, in the guest bedroom. And they ask before they get into it. Then they drag it out in my living room. But they put it back too. Otherwise next time I will say no.
I can’t imagine telling a kid they can’t play with toys because they forgot to clean them up last time. ☹️
Curtains would look nice. You could keep them short so they aren't behind the sofa. Or just a valance. To be honest, I have never wondered or even n oticed you didn't have curtains.😊
I never knew it would bother people so much, but it does & they let me know often lol
Curtains would be nice.
What length though? Because floor length would end up being hidden behind the couch
I don't think a thing when someone leaves candy or treats out. Actually, if I think anything, I think, "Oh that's nice her kids like that!" My kids don't like things like that (this is not a sarcastic comment). We skipped the V-day party at their co-op this year because last year, we ended up throwing the candy away. And to anyone who is disbelieving bc their kids eat all the sugary treats: 1. In the year of 2024, can we please agree not all kids are the same? 2. The difference between my kids and your kids are me. As always, love your videos Megan!
While you said this isn’t a sarcastic comment, the part where you say “the difference between my kids & your kids is me” definitely comes across as mean spirited.
I’m happy for you that you’re secure in your parenting choices, but there are ways to express security without shaming or making passive aggressive comments towards others.
what about a short panel on either side of the windows so that they don't block the light from the windows.
I’m afraid that shorter panels, or a valence, would make the windows look like a kitchen window
Hi Megan - let me just say that it's really ridiculous that you have to address comments beforehand about how you & Derek raise your children - key word YOUR
I do think curtains would be nice and understand your concern..The couch would maybe need to be about a foot from the wall so the curtains can hang properly..If you have the room then go for it!! A nice alternative are the fabric roller shades that come in all types of designs and textures..I am sure whatever you decide will be wonderful! Have a wonderful weekend Suga
I think it’s ridiculous too. 😵💫
And I would love to be able to move the couch away from the wall, but unfortunately it doesn’t work in this room 😩
Wait!! You guys have a pup?😀
Yes 😊
Are you gonna be doing another one of these veidos again?
Maybe, but not anytime soon.
How about Roman shades? There are so many different types. Then they wouldn't hang behind couch?
I’ll check it out!
Your window shutters are very good not cutains it takes a lot of spce
That’s what I’ve always thought too 😊
Bamboo shades….?
I’ve been looking at some on Amazon, but I think I’d prefer a different material.
Yes to curtains! What most ppl do is push the furniture against the wall. No. Furniture should be pulled out from the wall maybe 10". Look up furniture placement videos. That 10" or so inches will allow curtains to fall behind your furniture.
If I pulled the couch 10” away from the wall, it would be in the middle of the floor.
