Hey Friends ! After popular demand on my instagram, I decided to film a daily vlog of our VERY unique life up in the north of Pakistan ! It's very raw, real, and unfiltered, to give you the best idea of kind of how we spend our days. Obviously I can't include all things, and left out some boring mundane details (as I included enough) Sorry about the length- hope it keeps you interested. I really wanted to share everything so you got the full scope of what it was like there and what we had to face. Including the mold problem- hence how bad my face was. We also decided to take a small tour of the town to share a bit of the local Hunza culture. Also- I just wanted to point out- we didn’t intend to ever live here in the winter, hence why we’re weren’t more prepared. We actually came back only to pack our things and go- but this got delayed 2 months as we could not find a new place to shift. This, we got to experience our first full winter !!! What a wild ride 🤩
Next week I'll be uploading a recap video of the whole last year and a half living there, so you will get to see all the beautiful seasons and all the highs and lows we faced along the way.
Thank you for your support and watching, and I really hope you enjoy it !
Let me know if you like this kind of content and would like to see more :)

I lived 2 years in the mountains of Kashmir right after the pandemic started. Pretty much spent the entire time up there. Best 2 years of my life. the mountains, the clouds coming up, the bonfires at night. It took us almost 2 months to get water, when it would rain, it would rain for weeks, food was about 30 minutes drive into the next city, no heat during winters and there weren't alot of comforts that we have in the city. Everyone kept trying to convince us to come back but the serenity was unmatched. This makes me so nostalgic and envious

Pakistan is super stunning, specifically in the Hunza Valley region & across much of Northern Pakistan.
I witnessed the magical Winter scenery abound & of course, some of the world's tallest mountains, of which Pakistan & Nepal own many.
I think that many people live very comfortably across Northern Pakistan, because they'd possess much experience & be well prepared for the harsh Winter's.
They're also very peaceful humans, just so beautiful, both inside & out!
The general scenery is just utterly breathtaking & so out of this world & when one makes a personal visit, one sees this truth!

Thank You alot Rosie and your hubby for highlighting the daily struggle we people of Gilgit Baltistan face. My body is shivering by imagining how our elders been through this and other harsh situations without any resources and support 😫 🥺🥺. People talk about beauty of our motherland, but they have zero idea of our suffering and the price we pay, the price our generations have been paying 💔. Yet I and many like me miss the winters of north with warming ourselves around bukhari , eating dried fruits and elders telling their stories and experiences. What a moment that used to be. Miss it so much. We are away from motherland but our souls are wandering around our homes gardens, mesmerizing and mighty peaks and streets of villages.
Thanks again for bringing our memories back.

You will see them in next weeks video as I do a 2 year re-cap video of us living in the north. Sadly I had to leave them back in Canada with my mom last year. We had two near death experiences with Winston in Hunza 😢 and there are no vets up there. It was too scary for me, with Winston getting older , I left him in Canada. I’ll return this summer, and hopefully be with them permanently after that. Winston is getting older and I want as much time with him as possible 🥹

You need a bigger wood stove. You need a cast iron Pot Belly Stove big enough to put a few big logs in. 6 to 10 inch diameter and around 18 inches long. You use small sticks to get the fire going, then you put some bigger logs in. The bigger logs will burn longer. Then you only need to wake up and throw another log or two on the fire once or twice during the night.

There are other versions of the bukhari but you can’t find them just anywhere and need special installation- this was a rental so not possible. Just had to make do with what we had.

You could consider affixing a thick woolen blanket to those roof beams, if the house has no roof isolation.
As for heating - you could consider one of those RV oil/diesel heaters. Those vent outside. They can deliver 10kW of heat, which is a LOT. They run from a 12v battery, so you don't have to run the generator while using the heater (but do make sure you can still start the generator next day, don't drain the battery!
They are not exactly quiet, so not really a nighttime solution i think.

Great! Amazing winter experience with snow. There is no doubt that life is very difficult in these areas without facilities. I always thought about the people of these areas, how they are living their life without facilities. To know the difficulties in these areas that are the most difficult experiences of your life, they are appreciated. Thank you so much for letting us enjoy these experiences ۔

You need light dry wood to start and for a long lasting once it’s 🔥 up you need to add hardwood like mulberry or apricot wood to stay longer and give better heat.
Mulberry gives lots of firecrackers while burning so need to be careful not cause a fire at home or make holes in the clothes.

waoo..amazing..glad to see that you are enjoying hard aspects of mountain life as well..
a little tip on rosh if u allow me..
very little or slightly medium flame..like 20% for 2.5 - 3 KG meat (mutton) for 2.5 - 3 Hrs, should be enough..Beef takes a bit higher flame and some more time..
also, we add lamb back fat instead of butter..and a half glass of water if we want more gravy..
hope that helps and makes your winters warmer, better & more enjoyable..
    best wishes..
