The paper said Barry and him fought with Atom, Supergirl, Green Arrow, the hawks etc then they both vanished together in the year 2025. Yet Eobard arrived alone to kill baby Barry and our Barry was pulled back by the negative speedforce. He then fights that Eobard, not the 2025 Barry who never shows up, while the S1 Barry then see's our Barry who tells him no before getting baby Barry out of there and removing Eobard from the room. The whole show just went "yeah F that, we dont care anymore."

That's why he was presumed dead on Stargirl's Earth no one else saw him after that fight and as he says in this episode of The Flash the first time he went back in time he was fighting Nazis but that was in ANOTHER life.
