JSU Grad here and both bands did well but JSU just didn’t have enough in the 5th especially. Their energy was low and the arrangements just weren’t as complex, SUs execution was on point. These videos sound good but it sounded way better in person Saturday, glad I drove 5hrs from Atl to see this in person.

I am an avid JSU supporter. Marched in the Boom.. But this was not one of our best performances by a long shot. Didn’t like the song selections at all. But other than the 5th, we did great.
Southern played songs this whole battle. Songs had an intro, verses, bridge, and everything else. Sounded like a record but in marching band form. JSU sounded like they were playing small selections, snippets of songs. SU would play a song for at least 2 minites, then JSU would play and be done within a minute.. I couldn’t grasp how good JSU claims to be when I don’t have a chance to hear it. Its so much little stuff they can add to each song they play that would push it into the next level, but SU already doing that in this video. I heard it in the first song SU played, around 1:10 after that pause when the beat kicks back in and its full out. Listen to those lines the mellos and euphoniums playing. JSU aint do that, not like that. SU got this particular battle. Nice job both bands though. If JSU get some more size, and write out some legit songs, not charts, but lenghty songs, they’d easily beat SU with WT behind them tubas. Give SU War and Thunder and its the best HBCU band ever formed. Thats one thing JSU got, WT. WT is untouchable.
I'm so mad at that Lions, Tigers and Bears!! That was the first time I heard a band play it but it was the worst possible arrangement from such a powerful band.
