I just made this, I found tasting a few seeds at a time while they toasted helped me to find the sweet spot between reducing the bitterness and burning them. I used a small/personal Ninja blender and scraped it down with spatula a few times and it came out great :) Thank you!
I just made this today as well as your hummus recipe and both of them came out PERFECT. You saved me a nice bit of money on the tahini recipe. My sesame seeds were around $4.75 for a nice size bag but the pre made paste was over $8.00 and I still have a lot of seeds left to make more paste with! We love sriracha in my house so I added 1tbs of it to my hummus and OMG it is even more DELISH!!!! Thanks for these recipes!

For lower fat/calories it can be done with water instead of oil, the sesame flavor remains strong plus you can add garlic, spices, etc to make it a healthy dip
@@bluemoondiadochi obviously lol, honestly though I probably used only about 8ml(60calories) of olive oil and the rest was water and it still tasted amazing. You can find a good balance between the two

I have mastered making hummus, one-handed… I I make hummus every week, so I’m sure I could justify making my own tahini. The ideas here as how to cook chickpeas and make true DYI tahaini for hummus, worked just fine. As mentioned in the newest video, removing the hulls requires the patience of Job! Next time, I will try it "with" the hulls--that hull-removal process might be worth it; however, I am not wired for that kind of tedium to prep for a snack/spread/condiment no matter how exacting the presentation might require. SMOOTH!! WOW!! I like it! Gone is the graininess that commercial hummus contains. Plus one more TBS of water [or less for your taste] and the consistency to spread fits anyone's preferred palate! Tahini is so expensive in my country but sesame seeds are relatively cheap so I made my own tahini for the first time yesterday and I intend to use some of it to make hummus. I used to have a magic bullet but after many years of use it stopped working. Instead of buying a new one I bought a braun 9 piece blender, masher etc. It was more expensive but I've used it so often it was worth tthe investment. I hope whatever machine you purchased will be as useful to you as mine is to me.
i was looking for the specific measurements for your recipes. I like watching but i also like being able to see number measurements too. I feel i didnt add enough seeds or too much oil that i now need to toast more seeds... just a bit frustrating but i love your videos!

I bought a pound of toasted sesame seeds a few days ago so I can skip the first step when i make tahini sauce. The store bought one always forms a hard mass at the bottom of the jar. Hi! I love your video, and I recently tried making this recipe. However, I was unable to process the sesame seeds into a fine paste due to them constantly sticking to the sides of the food processor (and not getting touched by the blades any more). I am new to food processing, and wonder what I could do to help fix this problem. Edit: I forgot to mention that I used pre-toasted sesame seeds... could this be the reason?
Using pre-toasted seeds should not have caused any issues. How large is your food processor? It is possible the bowl is larger than ours, making it more difficult for the seeds to break down. If your processor came with a mini bowl that can be inserted into the middle of the regular bowl, it may be a better bet for breaking down the seeds. You could also try making a larger batch.

@@isfinannaire9877 You would, but it would take forever. At that point, buying the Tahini from the store will be cheaper when you factor in the time you'd be busy mashing about 20g of seeds at a time until they are crumbly.

I donlt have a food processor so i made it with a coffee grinder! i just added honey and it came out delicious 😊😊😊

In Puerto Rico we make a drink from sesame seeds. It's really refreshing in the summer. The drink is called Ajonjoli.

I actually tried to make my own tahini, by FIRST grinding the toasted seeds in a coffee grinder, then adding the oil after. It was really smooth
