These guys are funny- I put one in 2 years ago but the slugs ate on over & over till it disappeared. So, last year I planted a new one to replace the other one and put in plastic ground cover & bark chips so no more slugs - ok so this year, the slug eaten one is growing back! I couldn’t believe it & yet, here it is!! 😂
Thank you so very much for the best ‘informative’ information ever. I picked up lots of hints that I can use on my two clematis plants, the main one being to keep their roots cool. I agree with you, they are a lovely plant, and just might have to plant a couple more !! Have subscribed too.
Thanks for your detailed for the clematis and I grow it from seeds (multiple varieties) yesterday and zone 8 hope it grows well in Globe Arizona 85501.
You have lots of great information! Thank you! I came here to learn about pruning but I missed the prune clipping. You were out of the camera view. I have an Autumn Joy clematis growing all over my potting shed and love it. I think I might cut it down to the ground after blooming this fall. Will it grow next spring all the way up and over the potting shed again? I love that it does that, but it's got a boat load of dead underneath it this year.
Love love your Channel! Was very excited to see this because I have Nelly Moser and Anna Louise clematis, both type two. Just so you're aware, when you were trying to show where to prune the type 2s on your lattice, the camera angle was wrong and didn't show it. But my biggest question is how are you growing these clematis with their tiny tendrils around that thicker latticework? I just had to put a piece of chicken wire around my dogwood trunk because they wouldn't climb. Please let me know, I would appreciate it and thank you💚
I think they are more wrapping around each other. I do help them and weave them thru the lattice. Not that I stand there and do that, but when I walk by I'll shove one in, pull one out...etc...I probably walk by it 4-5 times a day. And I know...I totally missed that I was out of frame....so sorry about that.
Thanks for your show..I have a clematis that grows to about 3 feet tall then it just starts dieing back. I moved it feed it and everything I could think of so I think I am just going to cut it down
I have a 7 foot ‘mushroom canopy’ obelisk - wondering if a clematis vine would grow well on it. I need a vine that will climb up the structure and then spill over the top. It’s in a wide open, breezy, sunny spot in my kitchen garden.
Very poor camera work. Did not show where you cut the stem to prune it. You kept pointing towards where you said were more clematis growing but you never showed them. You didn’t even show where they were growing in the ground. Did you not watch the video before posting it?
@@gardeningTLC- just ignore that rude comment Michelle, I very much appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I was hoping you would mention the two varieties on your trellis because they are the colour combo I am wanting for myself. I have been watching your 'shade garden project' videos for inspiration. Regards from Ontario, Canada zone 5.

I am in zone 3b and my clematis is doing well. The variety is an “Arctic” one, with bell shaped flowers.
Awesome. I am so glad there are ones for zone 3 😀😀😀

I saw that I missed that, sorry about that...it might take it a few years to grow that big again, but it should.
Great video. Very informative!

Isnt Jackmanii and autumn clematis in Group 4?
Did I get something wrong? If so my apologies. Jackmanii and Sweet Autumn are in group 3
Your Group 2 pruning was Out of Frame.
I know..I am so sorry I messed that up
