- Easy Cendol drink recipe, a vegan dessert that is typically found in South East Asia especially Malaysia
www.nyonyacook...
'Cendol' or rice flour jelly drink with coconut milk is a sweet and refreshing dessert popular in Malaysia. It has been declared a Malaysian heritage food by the Malaysian Department of National Heritage. The ingredients consists mainly of green rice flour jelly, palm sugar and coconut milk. It is sold by vendors at roadsides, hawker centres and food courts. It doubles up as a delicious thirst quencher especially on days when the weather is scorching hot.
The combination of the palm sugar along with the coconut milk blends perfectly. These days, the addition of cream corn and kidney beans adds some texture to this amazing drink. In this recipe, glutinous rice is also added to further enhance the taste. You may omit the accompaniments if you love it authentic and simple.
For a lighter version, the thickness of the coconut milk may be diluted according to your preference.

Thanks for the recipe - I used to enjoy this 30 years ago when staying with in-laws in Klang. Looks like a load of ingredients, though (I had no idea:).
Wow this makes me want to go get some cendol. I need to drop by Papparich or somewhere to have this again
a little bit different from Indonesian cendol. it only cendol, brown sugar (not too watery like what in your vid), coconut milk and ice. and we usually have a mold for make it.
in Indonesia we called it Es Campur (ice with some mixed ingredients) like grassjelly, corn, jackfruit, black/white glutinous rice, fermented cassava (tape), brown sugar, coconut milk etc
wow thank you very much....realy helpfull👍👍
I just made one last week, haha btw good idea using zip lock bag n cut at the end, thumbs up,
This literally sounds so ice kacang with coconut milk instead of evaporated milk! So good and vegan friendly too 👌🏻👌🏻💞
Haha yes! You should give it a try :D
this is ice kachang hahaha
nobody uses evaporated milk for chendol, maybe you mistaken with ABC ice where it's drizzled with evaporated milk
i didnt say this is chendol but ice kacang aka ABC

When I add my coffee to your "combination of Coconut Milk and Palm Sugar ... made in heaven" it will become C-offe-endol ™ :p
You must have had at least 2 coffee before the takes, you were bursting full of creative Nyonya energy
Haha, i would love to try that. I was just too excited cause there is cendol :P
I don't have mung-kee flour and pandan leaves so can I skip it out for this recipe or anything else substitute for this recipe? ???
You can just use rice flour but i find that too hard and it breaks easily. If you don't have pandan leaves, try looking for pandan extract or else you will just have white strands of cendol :P
+Nyonya Cooking thank you for giving me a suggestion :) and send me more recipes which doesn't use pandan leaves at all next time? ???
I have exam tomorrow but i watch this bcs it pop up on my notification 😂 btw great video! I love cendol 😍❤
Good luck!!! You can try this recipe once you're done with exam :P
+Nyonya Cooking hahahaha thank you! yeah i hope i can make it 😝 u're such a sweet and adorable person kakak Grace! 😂🙆
+Nyonya Cooking aja aja fighting! Baik bos!
this looks fun to eat and drink ;D (i have to try and find all the ingredients.. do u think it would taste good if i used green tea instead of pandan? (since i dont have it..) ^_^
pandan has its unique aroma.
i wish i could get it in america... T_T
asian market or chinatown might have pandan leave.
thank you but we dont have those in miners mill, pennsylvania, where i live.. :'(
+Danisa Mishima Maybe you can get it via amazon online shop
What state were you from?
Im curios right now where are u located?malaysia or overseas?
Think she said germany
I followed recipe and cendol is soft. How to make it crunchy?
Eileen Nah cendol is soft not crunchy
Eileen Nah put it in the freezer and let it harden. it'll be crunhcy alright
hi grace... the coconut milk, do we need to cook it over heat first..?
You can but make sure you cool it down first before using. In the video, I did not do it though.
+Nyonya Cooking thaNks Grace 😉
Actually this is not call chendol coz authentic chendol in singapore n malaysia has only gula melaka cocnut milk n the green stuff that is what u call chendol but in malaysia some chendol stall add sticly rice to it which is delicous... This is what u call Ice Kachang which have all the above stuff....
That's why she called it Cendol Istimewa, because it's, well, special.
I believe chendol just refers to those green flour pieces. Ice Kacang should be made with shaved ice. This one she made is more like a Chendol drink :)
This is cendol pulut (sticky rice)..another type of cendol is cendol pulut tapai that has fermented tapioca added. All the three are types are the common choices for cendol
+boy638 Ya..ais kacang has is mix shaved ice
This is cendol ice kacang is shaved ice madam.
Wish your recipe measurements were in volume (cups or teaspoon or tablespoon).. as there are too many conversion tables which varies much, resulting very poor output in recipes. Thank you for all your detailed results.. Terima Kasih!
Hi. is it possible to substitute the mung bean flour with other?
Do u know what is mung bean flour? Its 'kacang hijau' flour. And i think alot of grocery store has this type of flour.
@@wanmuaaz Mung bean flour is not easy to find in Europe.
I have never seen any rice in my cendol hahaha
Where do this variant come from?
That's why they call it "istimewa" haha. Not sure of the origin but we use to have it at this place close to Sg. Besi LRT station. Best cendol imo. :P
+Nyonya Cooking oh gawd Im gonna look it up
thanks for the suggestion
And another uncle sells rojak on his bike. Must try too. Cendol and rojak combination...MMUAHHH!
+Nyonya Cooking

waaa....u make me miss Indonesia!
let's cook together. let's combine or compare indonesian food n malaysian. like our rendang, our cendol, nasi lemak etc..
hello from Indonesian in hangzhou, China!
i challenge u to make indonesian food in ur next video! : ))
Hehe, maybe you should request a recipe on nyonyacooking.com. I'm sure there are lots of similarities in both countries when it comes to food!
Gula Melaka is coconut sugar …Not palm sugar. correct me if I am wrong
"Malaysia: gula anau, gula melaka (coconut palm), gula kabung (arenga pinnata palm/sugar palm)"
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palm_sugar
hi... how did you prepare the coconut milk? was it hand press or any special food processor to do it. looks weird for me to do it by bare hand and offer it for drink .. even you washed ur hands.
Alvin Cervantes you buy coconut milk sold in boxes 😋
das ist so lecker!
Danke danke! Dieses Rezept musst du mal ausprobieren ;)
Hey Grace, i hope its not rude to ask but do you know how to speak chinese? Most baba & nyonya don't speak chinese if I'm not mistaken
A bit, enough to order food :P That's because I speak english at home but my relatives back in Malacca do speak chinese. It's kinda campur campur.
+Nyonya Cooking cool. Thanks for replying. No wonder your English is good. Love the production and your videos
It's our pleasure :D
waoo lovely ^^
Thx!!
+Nyonya Cooking we are called "DAWET" we mix gula malaka with pandan leaf and jackfruit ^^ I like your channel, really
Very happy to know that. :D I have tried the dessert with jack fruit too. Amazing!
+Nyonya Cooking oww yaa, shared with me ur dessert videos ^^ ur style to cooking authentic dish is very cool ^^ I say keren, sangat cantik ^^ if I make a new videos I'll shared to u soon. terimakasih
its fail i use 150ml pandan water mix with all flour and its become clay not a gel.
Thanks for your comment. Combining 150ml pandan water with the different types of flour makes up a fluid mixture. Cooking it at low heat with lots patience gives the glossy consistency that is show in the video. Please do try again with low heat. Cheers!
Every thing is Peranakan or Nyonya. Bloody hell!
Hey Shamzie, our cook is Nyonya. The dish isn’t Peranakan 😅 The term Nyonya simply refers to women in the Peranakan community. You can read more here: www.nyonyacooking.com/about - Admin
