Beck always give me the feels whenever I watch it. I can't count how many times I've watched that anime. It's gives you all the slices of life feels and it's really touching to watch how all the characters grow as the story goes on. Nodame Cantabile, Your Lie in April and Nana are also good :)

dafuq guy I’m among the persons who didn’t share a tear. The somewhat slow pace of the anime (specially around mid-series) made me drop it for months... that said, torwards the end when it became truly emocional (specially the ending) I was deeply touch. Never expected such a quality in the later stages of YLiA, and when it ended I did felt something was taken away from my me and my soul. Nevertheless, didn’t cry nor was close to it. That privilege is for The Grave of the Fireflies.
Kousei made #1 over anyone else from the show because: 1. He's the main character. 2. He was not only gifted, but also trained to perfection. He could read the score and play everything (including the tempo) exactly as written, a quality worthy of both heartfelt admiration and fierce envy. 3. Kousei's skills inspired most of the other kids (directly or otherwise) to study piano. In Kaori's case, she was already a pianist when she first heard him play and decided to switch to violin just so she could play alongside him.
I was watch and I got more and more frustrated as the list went on because they hadn't mentioned him and then they got to number one and I got so happy.
I can't believe I'm actually tilted by this list, but I am. The fact that Chiaki from Nodame Cantabile isn't on here (and #1) pretty much invalidates the list. He's a first-rate talent at Classical piano, Classical violin, and conducting. Also, Nodame at #5? She can listen to a symphony and play it back on piano by ear not to mention that she played Chopin's Étude no. 4 when she was like fucking six which, for anyone who has actually studied piano, is ridiculous.

He left his touch and unlike just impressing a concert judge, he touch the crowd conveying the true function of music as an art, creating raw, beautiful feeling. Your Lie in April fantastically conveyed the difference between being a pianist and a true musician, that's what makes Kousei so good. Many people play phenomenal concert piano. Far fewer truly touch the crowd and create something new. More than technical.
I think Yui Hirasawa of K-On did deserve at least honorable mention since according to the manga and anime she could play the guitar so well that even Mio thought just how much a genius she could be since she was only thought a few times and when she entered high school that was the only moment she got a hold of a guitar and play it, man she didn't even realized she could rearrange notes and make it into a great song. Though she lacks some brain strength 😂

I felt like Shinji Ikari deserved at least an honorable mention. His roles may have been brief, but the way he played in both Neon Genesis Evangelion and in Evangelion 3.0 was pretty inspiring and I think captured a brief image of his soul. I'm aware that its a weird way to describe it, but the music I like best is that which can express the musician's soul. Something to give an idea of where it came from, what it went through, and maybe, just maybe... the hopes it still had for tomorrow.
The fact that Kaoru wasn’t number one is pissing me off, he managed to go from Classical music to Jazz so easily and thats a lot to say considering how a lot of classical musicians lack the improvisation and syncopation found in jazz, and most of all his connection with Sentarou makes Kaoru WAY BETTER than Kousei, and most importantly, the fact that most people think Kousei is better because “aw so sad he better blah blah blah” is like saying a musician that died or had a tragic past is the best (ex. XXXTentacion), so considering that Kaoru ALSO WAS A PRODIGY and started early with the piano, had a better musical ear, was a literal MASTER OF IMPROVISATION, and could learn in a matter of weeks top, makes him a way better pianist than Kousei, I wouldn’t have been mad if Sentarou wasn’t on this list as long as my boy Kaoru had been given the respect he deserves.

I felt like Shinji Ikari deserved at least an honorable mention. His roles may have been brief, but the way he played in both Neon Genesis Evangelion and in Evangelion 3.0 was pretty inspiring and I think captured a brief image of his soul. I'm aware that its a weird way to describe it, but the music I like best is that which can express the musician's soul. Something to give an idea of where it came from, what it went through, and maybe, just maybe... the hopes it still had for tomorrow.

The fact that Kaoru wasn’t number one is pissing me off, he managed to go from Classical music to Jazz so easily and thats a lot to say considering how a lot of classical musicians lack the improvisation and syncopation found in jazz, and most of all his connection with Sentarou makes Kaoru WAY BETTER than Kousei, and most importantly, the fact that most people think Kousei is better because “aw so sad he better blah blah blah” is like saying a musician that died or had a tragic past is the best (ex. XXXTentacion), so considering that Kaoru ALSO WAS A PRODIGY and started early with the piano, had a better musical ear, was a literal MASTER OF IMPROVISATION, and could learn in a matter of weeks top, makes him a way better pianist than Kousei, I wouldn’t have been mad if Sentarou wasn’t on this list as long as my boy Kaoru had been given the respect he deserves.
