I love this piece and will be singing in it as a tenor in a concert this weekend. There are many great interpretations around. I feel this version brings something different that I really like. The solo part has a lovely simplicity. The sound scape is also fantastic. Love the emphasis on 'yet we played last night.' Thank you so much to all involved.
Words: Only in sleep I see their faces, Children I played with when I was a child, Louise comes back with her brown hair braided, Annie with ringlets warm and wild. Only in sleep Time is forgotten - What may have come to them, who can know? Yet we played last night as long ago, And the doll-house stood at the turn of the stair. The years had not sharpened their smooth round faces, I met their eyes and found them mild - Do they, too, dream of me, I wonder, And for them am I too a child? Sara Teasdale
If you were familiar with the verses of Sara's lovely poem, then you would have No problem understanding the verses here. And the choir here is performing it Exactly as Ērichs composed it, for a soprano soloist and a mixed choir accompanying. Sorry that you found it "lacking". 🙄
Azakiah Vallente she's also not tall enough in her voice it could be because she's nervous or she's not properly trained for the peace but she's nowhere near being dark enough with her valves
I think of my little granddaughter, Annie, when I hear this. Soul stirring and brings tears to my eyes.
Please tell us that she had ringlets. It would be too perfect.
Annie is now 2, her hair is curly, but my daughter could put it in ringlets. Can’t wait to fly to England to see them again after Lockdown.
@@DubbleH27 I hope you’ve managed to make it back here to see your Granddaughter
The choir Is so good, your voices are beautiful.
But the soloist is amazing.
She have a great talent.
The most beautiful song that I have ever heard.
I’m so impressed that a small choir such as yours produces such a magnificent sound and wonderful rendition of this favorite of mine. ❤❤❤😂

Meine Seele singt mit und schüttelt sich in Tränen.
Simply beautiful!
Ive just heard this song for the first time on the VJ Day remembrance service broadcast. Beautiful ❤
De toute beauté. Magnifique.
shoutout to the basses, powerful and beautiful at the same time!
I liked the brighter pitch of this soloist. Great work overall!
Beautiful version. Soloist is so pure and clear! Bravo!
The Soloist is an Angel
And kudos to the conductor for ignoring her acne and not substituting a lesser voice with a more conventionally pretty face.
@@paulhbrown She is pretty. But I agree to your comment.
Best version of the song I've heard well done everyone 👏 👍
Really beautiful! Well done to the soloist.
So Wonderful! God bless you
This is so beautiful and i get really sentimental listening to this. Thank you for uploading !
Yes it certainly has that effect, reminding us all of our own nostalgic time… long gone away 💕
I can't my stop my feeling ..like my body roaming in every part of universe

Thank you.
Thank you.
The soloist starts off so clear and beautiful. Adding in the other elements emphasized tone over meaning and obscured the words.

@@conradinhawaii7856 I understood "I was a child" but no other words. Pretty song, but what are they singing about?
Ēriks Ešenvalds mientras dormimos, muchas gracias desde Tenerife España.
Gorgeous!
If she doesn't get you tingling at 2:30, you missed something. Omg.
I LOVE THIS
WOW ..
great quality
What is it about Sara Teasdale's poetry that makes it so conducive to singing? Was she a musician?
Great tone on the soloist, however she gets slightly pitchy because she doesn't support her line enough
Azakiah Vallente completely agree
Azakiah Vallente she's also not tall enough in her voice it could be because she's nervous or she's not properly trained for the peace but she's nowhere near being dark enough with her valves
chris keene
Yes there's no doubt that a tall voice and dark valves are essential for a good performance 🤣🤣
her voice was angelic but she gets a little shaky and her voice gets a bit open for this song maybe because she's nervous but i liked the version
She’s simply a child ❤️ soon baby girl 🥰
🙂💕❤❤❤👋🙂
Arm chair experts wind your necks in. I like the naive sound.
hmm, why was this suggested for me in my Folk Punk list? lol youtube get your stuff together
