Then the steady decline of music when unit 01 float through space at the end; I don’t have words bro. This made my week, I HAVE MIDTERMS TOMORROW. Imma be singing My Way all day. The lyrics “For what is a man, what has he got? If not himself, then he has naught” is quite possibly the most fitting for Evangelion, and the most existential these lyrics could possibly be compared to any other context.
I love that we, as Eva fans, love to hyper analyze things like this (because we can use some semblance of intelligence), because I whole heartedly agree
Also at the same time the song is completely unfit for Shinji since he didn’t really do much of his own volition, instead just doing what others tell him to do and seeking their approval, while the song is about a man reflecting on his life and choices who literally did things his way, not anybody else’s. Although Shinji does learn to love himself in the end (or at least that he could love himself), and then therefore could start act according to his own will, so it could be an optimistic view of Shinji’s future.
Genuinely, i hope you advertize this on more social media platforms, its a true service to our eva community that you made this and it desrves to be seen by more people
