Remember guys, everything on the channel is an opinion, nothing is a recommendation. That said, these are my views on the Canik vs Glock debate. Looking at the 2 most common compact variants, I compare the most objective and subjective aspects of both to explain why I feel how I feel about both platforms. At the end of the day, these are both really good options that will serve you really well and opinions are gonna vary from person to person. So don't be too stressed if you don't agree with me.

End of last year I was dealing with the first time firearm buyers stress. I had basically settled on the G19 (as it seems to be the usual go to that everyone suggests) and was about a week away from finalizing my purchase. I ended up running into one of your canik SF videos and decided on the Mete SF. It was honestly one of the best purchases I've ever made. It runs smooth as butter and has an uncanny tendency to just shoot where you want it to (and I'm by no means an experienced shot).

Anything that gets more South African's interrested into becoming armed, safe and trained citizens is a pro. Canick can offer a lot for a lot less, but you're never going to beat the glock platform for aftermarket accessories, holsters, and their track record, simply because it's been there for a lot longer and their sales don't lie.
    As for what's better....
No amount of gear is going to beat training. The important part is that you are armed and that you know how to use it.

Canik anytime, any day. Few of my Glock friends are migrating to Canik after having shot one at the range. Glocks thrives on history but Caniks thrive on superiority 💯

Canik are great guns I have two of them but I trust more the Glock. If there is gun I’d rather have when SHTF is a Glock. It’s years of experience ahead of the Canik that’s all. Even if the Canik is better. I can’t explain.

Nice one Ryan, another awesome video. Been watching you for a bit, and been interested in your Canik journey. My first handgun will be a Glock 17 Gen 4 (as I'm buying it from my bud who's emigrating), and will train off that base in the meanwhile. But am really interested in a Canik as my first compact. Keep up the good work, G.

Yo dude, remember Glock isn't a bad gun, that Glock is gonna server you extremely well. But if you should ever look at another option in the future, definitely give the Canik's a look.

@@greymanoperations Yeah for sure, didn't mean it to come across as though I'm not happy with the Glock. Just that what you get out of the box with Canik, and at the price point, is very impressive. So if I was buying brand new first time, it would be the Canik.

Great review. I appreciate these kind of honest reviews, and as you said Canik has some ways to go reputationaly.. But you ran it and agree with it. My brother runs a Meta MC9 and I love it. Especially it's consealibility. But I love my CZ P10C... PERSONAL PREFERENCE.

Greyman compares a VW Golf Vs Golf Polo Tdi. Good choice on the value for money on the Canick.
Would buy it if I wasn't already invested in the Glock system.

@@Veritas.is.7ru7h Glock = Citi Golf, basic. It works, no major changes featurewise for years. Minors tweaks between various models. Lots of accessories to make it better.
Canick = Polo Tdi. Modern design and ergonomics. Out the box, better sights, trigger, ambi mag and slide release. Hope this helps.

I have shot the Canik TP9 SF Elite and a couple of Glocks (G19, G19x, and G43x).
I am heavily leaning towards the Canik Mete MC9 it feels amazing and comfortable in my hand, I am still trying to shoot one. Hopefully, I will find a shooting range that hires one out.
    It's MC9 vs G43x.

Thanks for this! I recently purchased a 43x, as someone with smaller hands and a slim body I chose the glock over the canik, as I prefer the slim profile.
How would you compare the micro 9 canik as opposed to the 43x. How did Michelle feel about the 43x as my wife will be looking to purchase soon?

Canik is great, great value for money and just plain good guns BUT one thing glock has that canik does not is bulletproof reliability. Caniks often have issues like the MC9’s well know failure to return to battery issue. If you are buying 1 gun that your life and the lives of your family is going to rely on, the reliability of a glock is worth a lot.

You beat me to it. Infact I saw this at a range recently and wasn't impressed. Brand new cleaned and lubed Mc9 wouldn't go into battery and would not cycle any type of Defensive ammo .
I wanted one myself for edc but that put me off.

Have been rocking the Mete SFx with M01 Red Dot for well over a year n half plus now...no issues so far, after many visits to the range, in both wet and seriously hot weather. In so far as accessories for the CANIK Range of firearms going forward, CANIK will eventually offer a lot more, just like it took CZ a while to catch, and so long as CANIK continue to offer affordable quality firearms and products like they are now, a lot more people will migrate and more newbies will be able to enter into the market which is a positive on all fronts for firearms owners in South Africa. As for Glock, unmatched in many apsects and I doubt any other manufacturer will be able to match them when it comes to all the accessories available out there in the ether. Anyway who cares, i guess it boils down to different horses for different courses.
