    People with Asthma and Allergies Can Enjoy Carpet, Too
    A misperception is that people with asthma and allergies should avoid carpet in the home. Actually, the opposite is true. Studies prove that properly cleaned carpet can help reduce symptoms and is the best flooring choice for those dealing with asthma and allergies.
    Proper Cleaning Allergens
    Gravity causes common household particles, such as dust, pollen and pet and insect dander, to fall to the floor. Carpet fibers trap the particles, removing them from the breathing zone and reducing their circulation in the air. Regular vacuuming effectively removes dust and allergens from the carpet and helps keep them out of the air we breathe. Click here for tips on how to select the best vacuum for your carpet.
    Know the Facts
    Carpet acts as a passive air filter, trapping dust, pollen and other particles and removing them from the breathing zone. Studies show that people with asthma and allergies have seen symptoms improve with carpet.
    These studies include:
    New England Journal of Medicine Inner City Asthma Study
    The childhood asthma study concluded that carpet does not cause or increase the symptoms of asthma and allergies.
    Airmid Healthcare of Ireland Study
    The Airmid study revealed that effectively cleaned carpets can trap allergens and other particles, removing them from the breathing zone, and reducing their circulation in the air.
    DAAB Study (German Allergy and Asthma Society)
    The DAAB study proved that carpet can reduce airborne dust by 50% of that found above hard flooring surfaces.
    Carpet and Indoor Air Quality
    Although we might not normally associate carpet with improved indoor air quality, it does have a very positive effect. Did you know carpet is among the lowest volatile organic compound (VOC) emitting flooring choice available?
    It actually acts as a passive air filter, trapping dust, pollen and other particles and removing them from the breathing zone. Studies have shown that people with asthma and allergy problems have seen symptoms improve with carpet.
    The Carpet and Rug Institute's Green Label Plus Indoor Air Quality Standard identifies carpet, adhesive and cushion products that meet or exceed government indoor air quality regulations and are among the lowest VOC-emitting products on the market. All Mohawk carpets are CRI Green Label Plus certified.

    Sorry but no carpet is hypoallergenic, it is man made, manufactured from basically plastic. Carpets do trap dust, dirt etc , so if you really suffer from asthma or dust mite allergies you need lvt, vinyl , wood, laminate etc. No doctor would recommend carpet for a real allergy suffering individual.

    So upon receiving the bundle of carpet, was there a detectable smell? You wanted to air it out so that's why I'm wondering. I have ZERO tolerance for smells myself, so I was interested.

    • @oxmanagain
      @oxmanagain  Год назад

      Even on the first day the carpet really was not an issue. After airing it out for a day or two I smelled zero. The issue is the tape. The tape is the problem. It took about a week for the tape smell to leave.

    Where do you get the carpet tape for this hypoallergenic Mohawk carpet? By the way this is the best carpet I've ever used. Personally it's great for basements. It's not cheap, but it's well worth its cost.

    • @oxmanagain
      @oxmanagain  Месяц назад

      @@ZimZam131 this particular carpet is a combination of carpet and underpaid in one. Once you lay it down on your subfloor it pretty much does not move even before they taped it.

    • @ZimZam131
      @ZimZam131 Месяц назад

      @@oxmanagain Understand I live in Florida where most carpet is laid down on solid concrete. So the purpose of the pad is to cushion the carpet when walked on, not to keep it fro mmoving. Perhaps wood flooring doesn't need it.

    How much was this to install in one room? I feel I need carpet because I have severe arthritis and problems with my legs and feet. And my landlord wants me to move they want to sell this condo so they're building these new apartments three stories they put in some sort of flooring now that's hard you know and they can put in the soundproofing things so cuz they used to have to have carpet when you have people upstairs. My question is I think this could be my solution I was hoping to at least put carpet in the bedroom and then try to find some sort of big area rug for the other room it's just a one bedroom apartment I'd be renting it I didn't want to get in trouble. But this looks like my solution! How much?

    • @oxmanagain
      @oxmanagain  2 года назад +1

      We did roughly a thousand square feet for $3,500. That included the stairs and us paying them. So if you're going to do it yourself for one room I would think anywhere from 200 to $400

      Who should I contact what's the name of the carpet again? Maybe if I'm in an apartment and I can't have it installed maybe it would still be a great kind to have measured You said it seemed like it was sit well without being taped? I just want to find that particular type of carpet if I end up going for sure in this apartment

    • @oxmanagain

      In the description below the video I left the information to the name of the carpet. You would have to contact your local carpet installer to see if they have it.
