Great drumming!! I love the 604s on toms. Mainly because I’m too lazy to get stands out 🤣 We’re really enjoying your videos, they always make us smile!
I often use 604’s on R1 and R2 cause they sound good and fit under the cymbals much better while picking up less bleed. But I tend to always use a 421 on my floor tom/R3 cause I feel they have more “body” to them, there is less bleed, and there is plenty of room to keep them clear from flying sticks… my 421’s are tapped to hell as it is.
It would make a difference if you put e604 on stands rather than clamps. Therefore you are not only decoupling mics from toms (so theoretically you help the low end response) but also you get much more flexibility in terms of mic placement
Thanks for the video! I'm currently in the microphone buying stage of musician's poverty and this really helps. Somehow I think the 421s are gonna put me in the poorhouse.
Love everything you did here. What is the dimension of your Live room? Would you do a video to walk around your live room and your recording/mixing room? Your recording studio looks awesome! Great works.

421's are absolute magic and almost a must-have in the studio.
For live? E604 does the job extremely well and does it at 1/3 the price.

Ayoooo is that the Mapex Blade snare by chance? That was my go-to snare for a solid 5 years or so!

I ended up getting the 604s and I like them. Still thinking about a single 421 for the floor tom.

please come back to youtube 🥺
Why panning drummers perspective when you're filming from the front?
To me, the e604s are the new standard. 421 is still a great mic that has been used for, I don't know, 50-60 years?
wow, e604 sounded better. Cheaper mics and better sound at the same time = double win
MD421 ALL TIME 💪
Love from Texas 🤠
604’s sound more live and natural.
Md421 the best
ahaha, funny dude.
MD421 is clearly a better mic.
