How about we focus on the educational system here in Nevada. One of the worst in it’s category here in the USA 🤦🏻‍♂️

Sure, the mentality may be the same as far as how newcomers to this country are treated but the difference is how past generations came to this country. Our families immigrated LEGALLY. They filed papers, they had to have sponsors, and bonds and find work to support themselves, not to mention go through a physical examination to ensure they did not carry diseases. And in the cases of many families, including mine, only men of working age were allowed entry to the country. Then once they secured lodging and employment they were able to "call" for their immediate family. The problem with politicians today is the over-simplification of facts and history.

So Ms. Cortez Masto, what is your view on "birth tourism"? How will that effect our country in the long term? Do you believe we should have open borders? How do you view the long term effects of illegal immigration on our economy and social service programs?

The economic impact of undocumented immigrants isn’t an opinion, there is literally data on this and it shows that there is a net benefit. The same research also shows them less likely to commit crimes.

@@Luke-kq8gh can you site your sources? So when a person is here illegally, does not have a SSN or TIN, how do they pay into the Social Security and Medicare Fund? Do you think it's OK for someone here illegally to work under a stolen identity? What about the American dollars being sent back home to their native countries? That is money leaving our economy. What is the long term effect? There is an estimated 22 million people in this country illegally. That's twice the population of NYC and there are thousands more attempting to cross our borders or over stay visas each week.

You are excellent in your expression. I appreciate much. You should talk about guns too. Is President Trump considering authorizing parents to give a gun to a seven year old to protect against his brother who is 12years old since he is a bully? When America is going to take away guns from citizens - given it has five to six layers of security measures to deal in grades of crime occurring? It is a shame this nation is so irresponsible and plays in the hands of the rich and the unscrupulous.

I believe in the right for law-abiding citizens to bear arms. That’s why I support background checks! These days in America, they’re giving out gun licenses like candy, and something needs to be done!

I totally agree with her stance and if she was running for office, I'd vote for her. It is true that every new generation of immigrants discriminate the next generation of aspiring immigrants.
However, she must also acknowledge that immigration, if not controlled, can cause huge instability. We can't just say "Ok, I'm not going to continue this vicious cycle of my predecessors, let us open our borders". That's a crazy idea because there's going to be a mass exodus from poorer, badly-governed countries to your country.
The ultimate goal has to be to have a borderless world and to get there, the difference in income levels and governance between developed and developing countries has to drastically reduce.
