Sikh people and their hospitality is so good. They don’t care about your religion or background. When I was in Thailand I visited some gurdwaras, The food was always so good and I felt welcomed every time.
You guys scored a great guide! When I go there I hope to find someone, like that, to guide me. It's a beautiful place, and bless them for how they help anyone! I too would donate my food to someone in need.
"We don't need a f***ing hotel !" The best line I've ever heard on RUclips. 🤣 I reckon the rickshaw driver probably wondered why on earth you were wishing an officious security woman a nice day. She appreciated your friendly wishes anyway. Great visit to the temple.
Amritpal is very knowledgeable. Talks truth, very concise while explaining the place and the Sikhism concepts. He is the best I have seen so far. Enjoy Punjab. :)
Langar was started over 500 years ago by Guru Nanak in rejection of the caste system and to promote the equality of all. Here, all people regardless of social status, religion, caste or gender sit as equals and share the same food as one humanity. The Langar is an integral part of all Sikh Gurdwara''s in all corners of the World. Despite Sikhism being one of the smallest World Religions literally millions of people are served free food through Langar every single day.
Hi Martin, I'm glad to see you both have fun in the Golden Temple. Yes, I was also there 50 years ago, it looks more colorful and vibrant and your guide was amazing and very talented. You are both celebrities in India thats for sure. I enjoyed your moments and the story behind the temple. Thank you my brother for sharing this amazing educational video. As usual stay safe both 🙏🙏💓💓
What a brilliant video I’d love to go to that kitchen, where I live in Leeds the sikhs community are Super generous you can literally just go to any temple and they will give you a free meal it’s amazing I work in the community looking after the elderly and when I go to sikhs houses they always give me a little bag of food to take away with me and it’s always super yummy
You are one humble person , looking after elderly .... what a noble thing to do..... n yes sikhs generally give food to anyone who comes to their homes , friend or stranger or help ...... they might even feed the plumber , electrician anyone , especially if the sikh has migrated from India , I don't know about next generation sikhs in foreign countries, but I must say most of them follow their parents n forefathers footsteps n do believe in sharing food . Good luck enjoy your lovely gift meals
This was a brilliant place for me when I visited golden temple for the first time in 2014 mesmerized by the view of golden temple its water. having meal with lots of people it was a great experience.
The Golden Temple signifies the teachings of the Sikh Religion in articture and practice. It has FOUR entrances which signifies that ALL people from the four corners of humanity are equally welcome. The site is constructed below ground level unlike most Hindu Temples. The steps flowing down into the Sikh Golden Temple represents the need to be humble and reject blind ego. Remarkably Guru Arjan who constructed the site chose out of all the spiritual people including himself a Muslim Saint to lay the symbolic foundation stone to the Sikh Shrine. The Guru disregarded religion by name and labels alone and instead saw the light in all people regardless of religion, gender, caste or nation. A part of the complex is the Langar which serves tens of thousands of people as equals everyday. However every Sikh Temple across the globe serves free food as a religious obligation to anyone regardless if race, religion etc. This practise was started by the first Guru - Guru Nanak in rejection of class, faith and caste inequalities before the Golden Temple over 500 years ago and continues worldwide today. Within the Golden Temple is housed the Guru Granth Sahib where the Sikh teachings are contained. The Guru Granth Sahib not only containes works of the Sikh Guru's but uniquely also the divine revelations and spiritual writings of others from different backgrounds and castes. The Guru Granth Sahib opens with the basic concept of the One Universal, supreme Energy called by so many different names across humanity,. Ik oankar - One absolute being (God) Satnam - Eternal truth it's name Karta Purkh - Creator Nirbau - without fear Nirvair - without hate/ enmity Akal Murat - Deathless/timeless image Ajuni - Beyound birth and death Saibang - self existant Gurprasad - known by the Guru's Grace. In the words of the tenth Sikh Guru - Guru Gobind Singh "recognise the human race as ONE"
