Hello 👋 Gerry. How are you doing ? Hope are you fine. Im Scott Clifford and am from Denver Colorado, where are you from . You seem like a real country girl
I have to admit that I usually prefer edgier artists with more bite to their music, but when my mind is in turmoil, It is John Denver's music that calms my thoughts and helps me find my center again. His songs cut to the heart of the things that truly matter: love for ourselves, for each other, and for the world we live in.
Oh how right you are. I'm 28, and I'm Italian. I am still to be able to listen to some of John's songs without tearing up. He sure knew how to get to the right strings inside a human being, and play them with the same skill he played his guitar with.
When I was 3, the trajectory of my life changed - I came to Colorado on vacation for the first time. When I was 6, the trajectory was galvanized by seeing John Denver in concert. When I was 18, I learned how to play guitar. At 33, I finally moved to Colorado to live in the mountains.
Feeling so sad about the chaos going on right now in our country. I turned to John Denver to get my mind off the turmoil. I heard this song and melted inside. The lyrics give me hope.
We have never needed to find a better way more than we do now, I miss JD so very much, thank God we have his wonderful musical legacy to uplift us. He is one of the greatest loves of my life and I thank God for him
Hello 👋 Jane. How are you doing ? Hope are you fine. Im Scott Clifford and am from Denver Colorado, where are you from . You seem like a real country girl
John said he started writing this song in the shower. I believe him. The song gives me a feeling of awe, of mysticism and magic. There are no stoppages, words flow as effortlessly as the river, so clear and aware and sure of it's course. It is my favorite song. Mountains, rainbows and flowers-to not lose sight of their beauty and remember and keep feeling joy, innocent joy, even as divisions, infighting threaten to tarnish relationship with nature & the good we can find in one another.
Yes I do write poetry/verses and appreciate a well written line in a song. Thank you for the encouragement. I don't know if John would be proud- I would have liked to share my poems with him. I could tell he loved to sing and share stories, feelings with listeners. The hope for a more peaceful world is something JD truly believed in and something people are still striving for, finding strength in the music, to carry out this vision.
I don't have many friends but I will definitely keep writing. I enjoy listening to this kind of music. It is magical when a song has "flow," many songwriters say it is a gift and it is! Peace to you too and again many thanks 😊
@@irodify1 If you like John Denver's lyrics, have you listened to Nick Drake, Jackson C Frank or John Prine? Keep writing and you don't get many true friends in life🙏
I have listened to the artists you mentioned. I find their songs sad but cathartic at the same time. I imagine you write and sing songs too? I agree with you about friends and appreciate the few that I have. Stay safe & may music be with you.
"For the children and the flowers are my sisters and my brothers. Their laughter and their loveliness could clear a cloudy day." JD, you did the same thing for us--your laughter and your loveliness could clear our cloudy days. Oh how we miss you and your loveliness in our lives!
I just remember where I was when I heard this song for the first time. I was eleven YO back in the 70's around Christmas and it felt going right thru my hearth to this day 55 years later it remain one of my top five favor song of all time.

Always preferred to hear him sing acoustically rather than with an orchestra. His voice was so pure. Sure do miss him.

He didn't need anything more than a guitar.
"Though the cities start to crumble, and the towers fall around us..." Prophetic lyrics, for sure.

Jack..what a thoughtful thing to say :-)
Same here. Thank you. Especially this song...
Ditto Jack Kilman, when the world is a deep black hole and you're swirling in it's depths, nothing lifts the spirit like John's music imo
Well put

There's a promise for future. Let's save the world. The kids needs to be save. Don't end the world.
