Olivers Feeling Their Oats

  • It's a triple play of Olivers! Herman the 1950 spreads fertilizer, then the 2050 get to try its freshly rebuilt hydraulic pump while discing the field. To round the day out it's the 880 pulling my 13 feet Grain Plains end wheel drill to get the oat seed in the ground. It was a sunny breezy day, so despite the good soil moisture, the sandy ground had gotten pretty dusty. Lots of great Oliver tractor sounds in the one. Detroit Diesel, Hercules and Waukesha power plants provide the music.

      @@ThatOliverGuyChris I would like to ask you this question about the three point hitch on the Oliver 880 how do you tell if it is a factory hitch or an add on one, and what is the difference between the three point hitch and the power traction hitch.

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  4 месяца назад +1

      @@galeogle it's hard to describe the difference between the factory hitch and an aftermarket I may have never seen before. The factory 3 point hitch had individual lower lift links that connected separately at their bases. The power traction hitch had 2 lift links that went to an assembly that connected at a single point at the front, and also had a drawbar mount built into it. If you do a Google search for " Oliver power traction hitch" and then click the image tab at the top of the results there's some good pictures that show it, as well as the 3 point hitch, or hydra-hitch as Oliver called it.

    Things are becoming "full speed ahead" here now, as we've finally had some consecutive dry days. I finally got my oats in yesterday and am disking for corn and beans. Have to go over my "new" 5100 planter with the splitter yet for beans, but hoping to start on bean and corn planting next week. Although dry, it's been chilly for the last week, with highs mostly in the 50's.
