For my husband (9w1) and me (8w7), everything you said about our relationship with money is spot-on. I took over managing our finances 30 years ago, and for me, money is fundamentally about preserving and cultivating our true freedom. This means being free from all debt, never feeling deprived, scared, or desperate. It also means never compromising our values, never resorting to ingratiating behavior, and never seeking respect based on the display of wealth.
Being generous and assisting those who deserve or need help in times of unexpected difficulties is an essential part of our personal relationship with money to know it is a healthy one. Thank you Tom. I am continually impressed by your profound and insightful grasp of the Enneagram.

I'm a 5w6. The only thing I'm not frugal about is technology. I'm cheap on certain things, and I spend a lot of money on other things, like gadgets or certain clothing items. Clothing that has function, not labels. Also, some make-up. I tend to hoard, but I'm consciously working on it.

I’m a 5 and I’ve always been minimalist… Until I figured out what I needed to survive the apocalypse. Now I have a log cabin on 5 acres in the woods with huge gardens and fruit trees

As a 5 I would say that when I feel good I am really gonna go to that minimalistic mindset and when I feel bad I am gonna lean towards that type 7 and spend for small pleasures. Overall, my relationship to money is blurry and it feels to me like money is not as useful as we tend to think

My hubby is a 7w8 and decided to stop at the car dealer 2 hours before we headed out of town to visit relatives. He bought me the car for Christmas. Surprise! (1’s tend to not enjoy spontaneous things.) I had 1 hour to test drive & “decide that I liked it.” I’m a 1w9. We traded it in less than a year later as we decided we needed a different type of car. Love my honey dearly!! We can’t do that again…

Hahaha, is so fun listening to it
As a type 2w1, I am quite good managing it as long as is for someone else, if it's for myself I have expend for others to the point I had to fast some days hahahaha, tho I always make it work is hard expending on myself even if it's important

as 853 tritype I can tell I'm a living moneymaker hahah
8 - I need money for independence and power
5 - I barely spend anything. I do not have material needs
3 - I make money as a way to present myself as succesful man

Imagine a 5w6 in their tritype, along with their SP/SX instinctual stacking
5-Conserving energy, time, and resources instead of misusing it for shallow reasons
6-Security-oriented, Worst-case scenario thinker [prepper mentality] when dealing with unpredictable situations.
SP/SX-Social norms is pointless and a waste of energy and time.

Claire Taylor has a really great section about the Enneagram types and how they approach money in chapter 2 of her book "Reclaim Your Author Career." The book is aimed at authors (especially indie authors), but I feel the money section is more generally applicable, and really useful in general.

Hi! I love all your videos because they always add information to what I already have. I use a lot the tryads to explain each type, so I pay special attention at the end of this video. Thanks for your susperb work, which helps me to do mine. Best regards form a social 9 W1, from the north of Mexico

Thank you for sharing!! That was very accurate, for me as 2w3 :)
The question is - how can I change some trades of my type, in order to live a better quality life? 😅

I really enjoy your videos and insights 😃 - I’m curious as to what you think about 9’s perhaps adopting the attitudes about money of the people closest to them. If they’re close with a 5 they may live more minimally or if with a 2 they may tend to give more gifts or with a 7 they may spend more impulsivity etc…

I can't seem to tell if I'm a 2 or a 4; this video hasn't resolved that particular issue, as I've acted both ways quite strongly in the past! :S
