Gestational diabetes isnt caused by weight or diet. It has to do with your pancreas. But once you get it you do have to change your diet. I got it and was 108 pounds and healthy when I got pregnant. GD goes away as soon as you have the baby.

Yes some skinny people can get it but diet very much plays a part. I was eating so many carbs like the normal American that I was overloaded with sugar. I got my numbers to pre-diabetic range in 2 months and was able to eat some sugar occasionally with less of a spike because my body started to heal then I went back to my horrible diet and have some issues again. I'm going back low carb. Also women with pcos alot of times developed type 2 diabetes. My pcos is way better when I'm low carb. I finally have a regular period for the first time since I started menstruating.
