- This is part of the interview with legendary jockey Angel Cordero Jr., from the The True Life Story of Jockey Tony Vega #TheBabyAnimal
Angel - you were terrific.. my first day at the races, maybe 1965 - you rode both ends of the daily double and I won with you.. I wish you all the best
Angel, I mis you so much, although I was glad when you retired because I didn't want you to get hurt any more. I thought that I loved horse racing but when you retired, the fun and excitement went away also. So, I adopted JR as my favorite jockey just to keep you in my vicarious life. I love the way you dismounted in the winner's circle. You made me laugh at Monmouth Park when you said that Spendabuck didn't need the lead. Then when the bell rang, the horse took off like a firecracker, LOL. I could go on and on but thank you so much for all the fun; I still have fond memories especially of the 70s and 80s. Know that I am most likely your best fan of all times. Kindest regards.

Well said!
King of kings
Yes, Angel. The public in the stands applaud when the horse they bet win, but they don't really know the big effort the jockey has to make to be there. It is not as easy as it looks.
