It is such a small weird world. When Danny mentions he was staying g at Muska’s while Chad was in NY, I was in NY and I was riding my bike through SoHo and I passed this other dude on a bike and I realized it was Muska so I circled back and introduced myself. He saw that I had a Space Needle sticker on my bike and asked me about Seattle and if I knew Danny and Wei. We spent the next like 20 minutes talking about growing up with Danny and how cool he was etc etc. Love this episode! So much of my childhood goes back to this guy and how he influenced my skating. Can’t even begin to know what my life would be like without his influence even though like he said, he was “difficult to work with” back then. Love this guy! #dannyisthedopest
Shout out to fallout skates and records. As a young 13 year old living in eastern Washington having a fallout sticker on your board told everyone you were cool and knew what was up. I came across Danny a few times growing up, and he kind of acted like he was too cool for school
Ive been doing art my entire life. Never could geyt my friend ls amd family to buy my stuff, shirts I made etc. But my one buddy starts selling his own soap and everyone loses their fn minds. This motivated me to start posting my drawings n stuff
I was in Singapore last year. Danny was doing an art exhibition and I visited the space. He wasn’t there, as it was after hours, but I was soooooo stoked!!! Wish I could have met him. He has a painting at my Skatepark I like called ATS. Can’t wait to listen to the interview!! Thanks guys!!!
I always remember Danny’s funny commentary while filming “hey beautiful” some chick walking away then Chad muska does a nollie tail tailslide “yeah Chad!” In fullfill the dream
This dude Danny Minnick his video part in Next Generation is sick. 🤢 he’s doing those pivot 360 tricks that Andy Anderson is doing on Transition. 😂 literally 32 years before Andy Anderson lol 😂
As someone who struggles with self talk, I can say that him being so quick to say that he loves things just shows that he is also happy and in love with who he is. It's a beautiful thing.
Yes he does and yes he does. Danny is living the life of a real one. I didn’t always like him back in the day but am looking forward to our next crossing o/ paths.
What happened after Underworld Element was Clout. He had a part in "All Soul, No Payroll" that had this song where there were two main samples: one that said "she's ugly," and another that was a horn line. My friends and I watched it a bunch and adopted the practice of singing the horn line to each other when we saw someone we wanted to note as ugly but didn't want them to know what we meant.
I discovered skateboarding as a little kid, never knew the culture or the possibilities until I saw an older kid named Tom ollie over the place. The only thing I knew about pro skaters back in the day was from the mags and the rare video I was able to get my hands on. I must've watched Photosynthesis 3 times a day for years. Thank God for the nine club and others like it who are giving these guys their flowers and due respect for what they were able to do before social media.
Danny had some sick parts. I love hearing how his skate mentality, inspiration, creativity and drive took him to such elite levels of art. Even though I wasn’t on the same level, I connected with a lot of his experiences navigating life. Congrats on the incoming daughter. It’s the best creation that you will ever have. Great episode guys!
Oh yes please bit late but here now shit yeah Danny is the Man loved next generation footage watched it hundreds of times Love yah work legends ahrr thank a you....
I have some video of Danny riding at a demo in Neenah, WI at the Beachfront mini-ramp. His style was so cool and of course we all tried to copy his style. I should post that soon.
@@gorelordzskate-racing-videos At one time the owner of Beachfront Skate/Bike Shop built a nice 6ft mini-ramp. Then I helped build a 4 foot mini another summer. It pretty much was were the Walmart is. We wanted to skate so bad, we'd take the bus from Menasha just to ride. It was covered by diagonal 1/4" luan plywood. Shout out to Steve Pratt. Great small business owner.
Dope interview! Does anyone know where one can watch the video that Danny recorded live in back of the audience at the Girl & Chocolate “Mouse” video premier circa ‘96/‘97?
Danny is a seattle legend. I was always cool with him since 94. I learned frontside 180 heel flips at sea skate skatepark because I saw Danny doing them at the skatepark in 94. Danny is in the background of my sponsor me video from 95 .
This dude used to skate & film and made some dope azz skate videos 📼BALANCE IN THE WORLD OF CHAOS, COLLAGE, GENIE OF THE LAMP, SKATE NATION & THE BLVD📼 Super sick to see he got an interview in for the CLUB
I'm so glad I saw genie of the lamp back in 2000 or 2001 I think so I was 13 or 14 and a year or 2 into skating. My friend gave me a VHS copy that he recorded off of his tape. I watched it so many times, I still watch it on here sometimes.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. Danny's lived an interesting life. I'm a fan of his skating, filming, and art. Now I'm a fan of his candor and positivity. I wish him nothing but continued success. A 206 OG. This was a great episode 👏👏👍👍
I first heard Nirvana in 1990, like a year before they blew up, because some random Seattle skate video my buddy had had Love Buzz in it. We were both like “whoa…. WTF is this? And skipped to the credits to find out. Then like a year later I got up for school, turned on MTV, and sat down with my bowl of cereal just in time to catch what to me was the debut of Smells Like Teen Spirit and I’m like “GTFOH Nirvana’s on MTV??? Holy shit!!!” This was in like 91 when it was unheard of for an underground band to make it to MTV outside of “120 Minutes” which was late at night. Anyways, to get to my point, are you sure they just didn’t wanna use Love Buzz because it was already used in a skate video? I mean, you’re from Seattle so you had to have known it was used in that random Seattle skate video.
Dude sounds like he can be kind of an a hole but I will always love him for the Donger footage... plus Daewon said Danny Minnick is his favorite skater
P.s. Calling out the deceased for money? RIP Tony Buyalos. You did so much more for skateboarding than this Keith Haring/ Jean-Michel Basquiat wannabe.
Hey, are you guys in Santa Monica? How are you still in business? Sooo many places, not any more. I wonder what de rent is? ... ; ( 😅 ...no but really, wtf? Greedflation.
Minnick was always cool and has grown into a super creative and unique person. Blessed to know you Danny! Keep going!

Danny sold me some white leather Muska eS for $20 at the beach in Malibu around '94. The hustle was real !
Those shoes weren't out in 94.
