Clearing things up about TMC Transportation | Trucking Answers

- I want to clear up things about TMC Transportation and their truck inspection policy. The trucks get inspected during each service and are subject to inspection when you are at a terminal. At a TMC Truck inspection you are required to have the trucks in what TMC Transportation calls showroom condition. The real problem I have is that TMC Trucking found a way to get this done for free rather than paying anyone to do it. All I am asking for is drivers to be paid for all their time. Drivers should take care if the equipment, certainly but a showroom inspection is ridiculous. Who pays for the products used to clean the truck? Is the time paid? Is that time logged? Remember, the grass is off limits as well. The speed policy at TMC Transportation also costs money. 3mph over a year is 7500 miles. Consider that. Don't fight to work for free. You are a professional driver, not a maid. Get paid for your time. What is the TMC Transportation inspection policy? Does TMC Transportation hire students? Does TMC Transportation percentage pay stack up?

I miss those sunglasses. It's so cool that you don't have any fashion sense, and don't care who knows it. XD
No way would I ever work for a company like TMC. I'm not a slob and I keep my truck clean, but I'm also an adult and I don't want to be treated like a child by my employer.
We aren't 10. I may not be able to bounce a quarter off my bed everyday.
But it's "Muh-rheeen" style, Commie! Ha ha
wonder if they make sure you eat your veggies just like mom did when you were 10
Did you pick your toys up?

I have a few things I want to say about this. I do work for TMC and NO I’m not a TMC fanboy. Your 100% right with the employee owned aspect of the company. You are not treated like owners of the company. You are a company paid driver and I think a lot of people outside of TMC takes this statement a little far. As far as walking on the grass... TMC brings in a new orientation class every Monday. They bring in experienced guys down to the permit holders. They put rules like this in place to weed out the guys that can’t follow simple instructions. Is it ridiculous? Maybe? But I have been treated with respect while I’ve been there and No I have not walked on the grass. No desire to do so and not any need to do so. Yes the trucks are governed to 62 and it sucks... 100% right there. In regards to the inspections. Yes, keep your truck clean. You agree as well. When your scheduled for service you generally know 2 weeks, if not longer, in advance. I generally use time between loads to take 20-30mins to work on whatever I need to when I know an inspection is near. It’s not near as bad as what people think and even how you portray it in your video. We all work off the clock and if you say you don’t, well.. I don’t believe you. Service generally takes 2 days and you ARE NOT PAID during this time. You do have an option to schedule service through the week or on weekends. I personally like it throughout the week. I like home time and 1 check doesn’t kill me. We make good money here. I look at it like this. I take the 2 day downtime to keep my truck in great condition so I can run hard in between services. How many times do you see TMC trucks broke down? I’ve seen one. Blown driver trailer tire. It happens. TMC is by no means perfect but they are a good company and probably have one of the best retirement packages in the industry. Do your job, keep your truck clean and stay off the grass lol. 3 pretty simple rules and at the end of the road you will have a healthy retirement account to enjoy.
Agree 100% You work to live...not live to work.
Right
My last 4 months of high school I turned 18, I used to miss a day or want to lrave early I'd walk into the office, write a note in front of the attendance lady, sign my name and hand it to her. That was usually enough to get them spun up to about 3000 RPM and start to threaten me with something. I'd wait for them to get to redline and I'd show them my drivers license then explain I'm an adult and I'm making the decision, I was such a little prick.
Why make average pay for a company that demands more than average effort?
Cash is King trucking good point
Exactly
Yep why put yourself through that for any reason, the pay would have to be phenomenal to put up with extreme policy conditions!! I guess mommas boys need guidance🤷🏻♂️
The military is like that but they pay for your housing, electric, water and food. Plus paid vacation and most weekends off if not deployed. Tmc do you do that for your drivers? If you do I’ll hop on board lmao
I guess requiring the drivers to shower is above average effort
Have the dispatchers clean the urinals and toilets in their spare time. Then they will no what it is like to work for free.
Exactly. Do office people clean for inspection?
@@TruckingAnswers they do actually but you should know that mr answers.
I knew you'd catch hell for telling the truth. You look out for drivers, and I appreciate you for that fact.
He caught hell for crying over something stupid, it's not your truck your using it so you should return in it in the condition you received it. So TMC has a high expectation so what. Company owned just means you have a share in it but unless it's a controlling share you have no say. Just whiny union people.
62 Mph? Also, sounds like way too much micro management. No thanks...
Yeah, it's 62 or 63 there, not sure which.
@@TruckingAnswers yeah TMC used to be 65mph for the 1st 5 years then 70mph tnd sucks

All required work requires compensation.
Agree. And to be logged.
Do you get paid for fueling your truck?
TMC hopes people transitioning out of the military, will see it’s a veteran founded company and will go there and be obedient servants.
Servant is the word of the day.
They say they are veteran friendly, they are NOT. They are/were after the tax credit and/or VA job training money.
Veterans are used to working for nothing.
You are obligated to not blindly follow orders in the military.
If the company is employee owned and you're an employee then couldn't you have signed off on the inspection?
Very good point!
Work for a company or program led by the military expect to be treated like you're in boot camp.
No jelly donuts.
Except you’re not treated that way at all. You’re told up front what the rules and expectations are. If that’s not for you, go drive for any of the hundreds of other companies that will let you live like an animal in the truck.
It's a shame how the sheeple are led to believe nonsense. This company abuses it's employees, then tells them how fortunate they are to be employee owned.
Hey, you're employee owned! Now, work for free.
I know
i dont believe anything a company says bc no matter how good a company is if they decide to close up shop your out just like the rest of the trash
You couldn’t be more correct man
The writing on the wall: TMC spends more on landscaping than on drivers.
MrBobbyBX not even close to correct. We spend probably triple the quoted amount just on rental cars and hotels for drivers to make sure they are comfortable or can get home. We’ve also been modernizing and expanding our terminals and shops to make drivers more comfortable and to get them back on the road faster.
Also, TMC doesn’t disclose what is spent on grounds maintenance, so any number being thrown out is purely speculative.
Jesse Jetty lmao damn dude u butthurt bad. Tmc sucks and proof is in the comments. Plus I worked and currently work with guys who were employed there. Probably not the worst company but definitely bottom of the barrel.
S2H no, not at all. Just don’t care for people spreading BS and then getting offended when it’s corrected. Proof is in the comments? The negative comments are all coming from guys who’ve never worked for the company. I’m sure you know all sorts of former employees... it’s amazing how people use that to justify ignorant beliefs.
We’re far from bottom of the barrel, but I’m sure you can tell me all about how you’re making top dollar, home all the time, get paid for all sorts of extra stuff and never touch anything but the steering wheel.
I’m not saying TMC is perfect, but we try damn hard to take care of our people.
MrBobbyBX so don’t work here. Simple as that. Again I’m sure you can regale is with tales of all the money you’re making.😂
@@jetty92487 Instead of baiting me, talk to your bosses about getting TMC drivers fairly compensated for ALL work!
The grass comment sounds like the military.

The last place I worked for was the same before I quit there. Not so much on the uber cleanliness like TMC, but their safety program , elogs, driver facing cameras and a driver manager calling me during a rest break for a camera coaching, is in the same category, micro-management. not worth it.
No amount of money is worth that bullshit.
Maverick is the same way about there grass.....dont walk on it or your punished.
Crazy
Who the hell cares about the effin grass?? Good grief.
That's only at the north Little rock terminal. And we aren't employee owned and steve like to have something nice to look at when he comes in.
@spam lite Hmm.... right next to the terminal manager's car!
@spam lite I would assume nowhere as they do not allow pets unless they are service animals.
At the end of the yr. you get 11.4% of your gross earnings. 5 yrs you are fully vested. Pretty good deal. Do your part to keep the truck clean and take pride in the new top of the line, equipment they issue you.
I used to drive for them so listen to me on this ... They own all their trucks and when it's time for the truck to go they sell it on their own as the same for their trailers , they own em and sell em so keeping them clean just makes the truck more valuable for them to sell .
Yes the grass at all their terminals is nicer than Yankee stadium grass but guess who pays for that , yup , the drivers do from the lack of salary they make. The company sez you get a percentage of the load you deliver but that number is no way accurate at all , they chop that number down then tell you this is the amount the load pays but thats bullshit .
All in all they take pride in everything they do except paying the drivers and it's a shame because they have a revolving door there with drivers coming and going , I'm sure they have had some of the best drivers in the industry work there at some point but have left because of the weak pay you get .
So if you get an article 15 do you have to clean abandoned vehicles?
😂
and probably a rack and wall locker display as well.
might get court martialed if they find a dust bunny on the floor
Not to mention you have someone in safety from tmc sometimes pop up at your shipper and receiver to see if your truck is clean and also if you have unauthorized riders, riders I understand but truck cleaning is a tad to much and not bashing the place just speaking on it,great job trucking answers....
First off the inspection is not hard to pass just keep it clean and wipe the dust up. You are not subject to an inspection every time you go to the terminal. Yes my car is show room clean. Most of us do not get paid by the mile its by the load. Im on a dedicated account where I do but as for pay I make more than my dad who has been driving for more than 30 years so pay is good.
Bus drivers get paid for cleaning weather school, metro, etc. I wonder if you are better off being a bus driver than putting up with their bs
Maybe but then 72 kids a day so....
@@TruckingAnswers Only if I get a Taser. :)
probably most city bus drivers are union
Maybe for OTR buses like Greyhound
Preach on Brother Mark! If the drivers who work for TMC that wrote in bashing you love working for TMC with all their imo ridiculous policies more power 2 them. But me personally and I'm sure the majority of people who watched your review of TMC would most likely agree those "policies/stipulations" are assinine. But if their drivers are cool with that good for them. Like you always say your reviews of companies are more geared towards informing "new" drivers in the industry or exp. drivers looking to make a move. Keep up the good work. Always educational. 👍
Not my job to trade them trucks in. My job to drive it.
Yes!
Yes, but that truck doesn’t belong to you, so being expected to keep it clean isn’t unreasonable. Trucks are a huge investment for a company. Want to live like a pig? Pony up the cash and buy your own truck.
@@jetty92487 lol. Did i say leave the truck in a mess? Nope. You should really consider what you say and how you read into other peoples' comments. Kinda makes you look bad.
Al JOHNS not really. You’re bitching about keeping the truck clean. Y’all are making a huge deal out of literally nothing
@@jetty92487 lol. You need to read the comment again.
Glad your feeling better Mark. Keep up the good work, and have a great safe week.
😁
Haha .. the comment section says it all. Glad u did a part 2 to this subject of TMC. Waiting on the suckbutt schills to show up. TMC =too much cleaning
S2H suckbutt schills? You mean the people that have actually worked there and know what they’re talking about?
Jesse Jetty no the people who think tmc is just so peachy and great they go above and beyond to defend the ridiculous rules and regulations the place has.
I'm a tmc driver and have been for 4yrs, just to respond to a few of your comments about the company. For 1, drivers are paid when they go in for svc. Granted it's not what they would have gotten if they'd deliver a load but it's something for the down time. $50 per day the 1st 2 days, then $100 the 3 day if your truck is still being worked on. After the 3rd day, if still there, they pay you your daily average. So if you have to take 2hrs to detail your truck on the 1st day there, you actually just made $25 per hr.
2nd, the truck speed was 65mph but in lowering to 62 for safety plus it saves the company almost $12mil yrly in fuel cost. That money is then placed elsewhere I.e. ESOP. So the owner dropping $1.4mil on lawn care is a drop is a the bucket compared to $12mil. Lastly, if you owned a business or home, wouldn't you want your yard looking nice and well manicured as well?
I'm well aware of these issues you brought up were your opinions based on what you heard and I just wanted to share mine based on what I know.
whoframedme 80 lol that’s horrible . 50 bucks for 1 whole day? Your time isnt that valuable. U think the office workers or managers would hangout a whole day at work for 50 bucks. Plus 1.4 million is not a drop in the bucket. Smh lol
@@s2h995 lol, you just heard $50 and ran with that. Other trucking companies don't pay their drivers @ all for that stuff. If you were/are an OO and you're @ the shop getting work done, you aren't making anything that day. Listen, I'm a lil bias bc they are the only company I've worked for but they really aren't a bad company. The issues mentioned in this video were mainly cosmetics.
I would not work for this company unless there was no other choice in life. Maybe if I was a felon recently out of prison. Otherwise, enjoy your years of suffering.
Thanks for the videos Mark keep up the good work
2 way deal here. I know a shop worker and he has made good money there ans been there awhile. I know drivers who have been there awhile. Seems to be more upper management who needs to be drivers to know the business but they are not. If Annett's would go back to having more hold on their staff instead of free reign things would be better. Problem with all companies is kids take over or board of directors and all hell breaks loose. They only see the money end of it.
I saw a guy get fired for walking on the grass when i was there. It's a fact.
I've only heard they talk to you.
I would piss on the grass. Then walk my dogs on it as well.
@@TruckingAnswers they really enforce it
Mark you’re awesome, you’re the only one on here telling it straight.
Employee owned. Yea, right. If you own the company and a shipper tells you "you need to load your load". #1 would you not pay yourself to load it? And #2 you could say "no I don't think so, I don't load trucks my job is to drive them". And the shipper tells you "you need to call your dispatcher" you could say "I don't need to because I own this company". If you can do this. Then great you own the company. And you can give yourself a raise. But I don't see this happening. So you don't own the company.
Awesome! 😂
Employee owned is more of a metaphor used in hopes that the employees take more pride in their jobs without having to provide any extra monetary reward.
Trucking Answers the employee owned crap is same as the hicks in green bay payin 100 bucks for 1 share of the packers. They get that lil certificate that says u are a share holder.
I like that Aeromax/Sterling behind you!!!!!!
Looks like Mark is driving an old sterling super 10 to me!
How do you feel about a new CDL/no experience newb signing on with Western Express for the experience (maybe a yr?). They are the closest to me. Only reason I;m asking about them.
Thanks Marc, any good trucking company in mind for recommendations ???
WOW didn't know this about TMC...thx Mark
I worked for them for about 10 weeks and I found out a lot of what peoples really don’t see or hear about
They take advantage of there driver in a lot of ways
There tarp pay is a rip off
Better than maverick
I think it's more of a character thing?
I would love to keep my personal vehicle clean all the time. If you have downtime, why not keep up with it? And........ About the 62mph thing. If your being paid a percentage, your not losing anything. I may be wrong. But I think they're trying to see who still has a work ethic????
So wait your telling me your problem is your held responsible for your assigned truck. It should always be clean anyway and you won't spend more then few minutes on it anyway.
Yes, do you clean the office ? I think not. Good for u Mark! Thanks a lot
You're welcome! I appreciate you being here!
Trucking Answers I hate doing work for free. My company doesn’t even consider the 4 of July a holiday! Doesn’t qualify for holiday pay, for example. We get a turkey for Thanksgiving at least!
Is it true that tmc stands for the melton cheerleader ?
That was good! Great job 👏 👍
The best trucking channel, by far!
Thank you!
You’re making a real difference in the younger drivers lives. At least that’s my thought. Us old dudes have been screwed one too many times to bend over and not know what’s coming. And HR just has a bigger one that’s always ready!
Does anyone know whether they retain experienced drivers in the bad times or do they cut loose the ones making the highest pay?
Most places let the worst performers and the problems go first.
Can’t be too hard to keep them clean, they go too slow for the bugs to splatter on them. I never drove a governed truck and I never will.
The interior had to be "showroom ready" during inspection.
Yup you will , unless you quit , the push is on for ALL trucks to be governed at 65 .
Bunch of steering wheel holders who have had the wool over there eyes since driving school.
Myself being a Clean freak and also a Lawn care nut I can appreciate these rules! Someone else shouldn’t have to clean up after a grown man, nor should I be paid to clean up my own mess! I hate to say it but a lot of professionals I see are less than Hygenic!
Don't these people also require you to get a truck wash after every load...? If so, do you get paid for that, or do you just get mileage pay, and does that mileage include the trip to the BB...?
I'm happy I get paid by the hour,if I'm not on the clock I don't do any work
That's correct.
Paid by the hour or at a fair LTL doing linehaul is the only way out here bro.
I've been doing food service for 30 years great pay and awesome benifits and retiring at 57
Mark Markem yep ltl is the way. Otr stinks. I grossed 1913.00 last week with 0 dock work done with 53 hrs on the clock. I run linehaul btw mileage and hourly pay
62 mile an hour truck. Great, you get to piss everybody off on the interstate. But hey, at least they get to see how clean your truck is.
Yeah I put in my two weeks notice on Friday and my last day is August 2nd. The pay is ok not the best. We get paid percentage or per mile but I honestly think getting paid percentage benefits then it’s not like we get to see the confirmation sheet. They told me to make sure the truck is clean before I turn it in. I think it’s a little over the top but that’s why I’m leaving. I bought my own truck and leasing on to Malone flatbed.
Once again spot on Mark!
Thank you!
Just started my shift here in west Virginia its 4am buddy see ya at the livestream
You're exactly right pay is more important than grass 62-63 really slow trucks pass them all the time get paid for what you do👍
But TMC trucks are so shiny and pretty! how can they not be a great place to work? dont drivers get paid extra for having all that chrome on their trucks?
Yes! It's $1/mile for company drivers! 😂
chome dont put green in your wallet
I love to detail trucks and cars 👍
A mark I work for tmc and it doesn't have too be show room clean, people go to far with that as long as it is vacumm out and dash boards are clean them you are good I just turned my truck in with no problems. Grass is true though😄. Then it depends when you turn your truck in for service they give you plenty of time to clean it will on the clock before you get to terminal. It's about time management, you have to play the game how it goes. 62 does suck balls though. ✌
I don't even pop the hood at my company, I fuel at night and they go over the trucks on certain days, If I have a problem it goes right in the shop when I get in every day.
DQ Patrick so you don’t do a pre trip?
Could you do COTC flat bed out of oregon, I think they will be my retirement job
No pay, im walking away. You truckers need to unionize. Other industries have fleet service people. I do think you should take some care of tge truck though. If I own the truck I want it cared for especially if you made the mess. And drivers also are not as careful with a truck they do not own as well as if they own the truck themselves.
When you bring a truck in, trash picked up, good condition normal wear and tear and even vacuumed out. You live in it part time as much as the next guy does. It is best just to take care as you go. But show room clean? Yeah you are right.
i never live in a truck i used to correct the dispatcher real quick when i was a company driver i said i live in my house and work in the truck
Destination, Excellence.....EVENTUALLY
Great video I totally agree
How dare they take pride in their equipment.
When they trade the truck in are you gonna get a piece of that for all your attention to detail and hard work keeping it showroom clean? Probably not.
Hi Mark.
I’m hoping you can help me a little bit. A young guy I know is pulling flatbed for decker And he’s been asking to go home. So he’s been stuck out and away from home. He’s talked to his drivers manager and no answer as to when he can go home. He has been out for 14 days.
So what flatbed company would be better for his home time Can you recommend any.
Thanks 🙏 for your time
Bill Guy depending on where you live TMC would actually be able to get you home a majority of weekends if you live in the Midwest. You’ll have to ask drivers about freight lanes if you’re looking for experience and live in the Midwest TMC isn’t the worst. They’re just not a company I’d stay with for more than a year.
Mark I added comments yesterday. Today ill say yes people should get paid for all their work. However ive grown up in a trucking family and have been a driver for several years myself now. ALL trucking companies steal our time in way or another. And very frequently the driver will, has or is going to do something for free. This might be to get home or to get rolling to keep the revenue rolling. I think this is an industry wide issue. I currently drive now for a large LTL carrier. I have two ways of getting paid as I do two types of driving. P&D which is paid by the hour. This is great as i get paid for everything i do from the start of the day all the way too the end. The other job is linehaul which iam paid milage. I get paid very well on that end as well . However if I sit at a terminal for an hour and a half waiting for one of my two trailers to be loaded I get nothing. My point is that unless all drivers are paid for every hour logged on duty this will always be true in this business. Its not just a TMC issue its an industry issues. In the end each company is the same BS diffrent phone number. And when you get into trucking you either accept some of this or you dont.
Also when i left TMC I received a nice check as they are employee owned. And yes the drivers want to change the speed. That will not happen I share that issue with you as well. But in the end 70k + I was treated well so I stayed 3 yrs there.
I just don't like some of their policies. If the owners (drivers) want the speed changed and can't make that happen, they aren't really owners. I do a drop/hook daily but if my trailer is not ready I am paid immediately and until it is. Drivers don't have to tolerate not getting paid. I agree it is not just TMC but why should it be anywhere? Working for free should not be just "part of the job" and it should end industry wide. At the end of the day, people get what they will accept.
I agree with what you are saying i just dont know that it will ever happen. There were a few things i would have changed there no doubt about it. But I was paid better than most places. I was home most weekends, stayed out only a few times by choice. I had a nice truck which was a plus for me. I think all companies need to change things for the better. Its a tuff business regardless of who you drive for. Long hours . Away from home weeks at a time for some companies. The list goes on.
I drove for tmc back in early 2000's they gave you a chance to clean the truck before they looked at if you take about 20minutes a day cleaning the truck it well stay clean
You took the video down? I didnt get a chance to see it
It has errors and so I corrected them today.
I agree with getting paid for your time all the time. But we have to get paid for the on duty time logged. What companies are doing that. I don't think we should be mandated to log on duty time. Especially if you get paid by the mile only.
It looks like the main question is:
Are those guys getting inspected after they are done with "polishing their swords "before putting them back to the zipper, I'm sorry wrong place it's actually the sheath 😂
Yes, don't get your sword in your zipper!
Soooooooo....do they pay for polishing the sword and is it to be logged on duty or off??
and do you clean the sword before and after you stab it in the hole or just after
Mark I totally agree with you.
If the company is requiring you to keep that truck showroom new at all times, they better pay you.
There are to many good company's out here for drivers to be distracted by bells and whistles and chrome.
That crap is for the rookies, drivers who want to get paid want a mechanically sound truck. Not a fashion show.
Exactly. Money not chrome.
Your 100% right
I was seriously considering going to work there a few years ago until I found out 62 miles per hour is the max speed of the trucks what a joke. That's just torture.
Keep the gospel going Mark!
Thank you! Always!
I like their nice trucks, I hear they have t.v.'s in them. but let um go 70mph!
Yes, #turnupthepetes
They do but they got rid of all their good trucks lol so lame
Your the man mark
If seems like it would be a hassle to work for TMC but do you have an idea of what they pay per mile?
Its % based, I average. 57.
They pay by the mile and % an % always ends up being far more money then the mileage they pay.
Cleanliness shouldn't be a problem. However Unnecessary Bullshit is.
I agree that all work the Company require you to do should be paid and logged.

personally I am impressed with TMC. The pay is good and the Esop is awesome (Hence Employee owned) and it cost you nothing and the more points you have for Clean truck, safe driving, etc the higher the pay so I don't consider that free..its incentive to do better and be better. Besides I go the extra mile no matter who I work for because that's how success is achieved in anything we do. How does TMC keep drivers?
starastronomer easily. This is one mans opinion based on hearsay basically. I have no problem with this video as he is welcome to think what he wants. But quite frankly life at TMC is really nice. That’s the world we live in people love to comment what they “think” especially when it is being negative. All that matters is what you think and as a TMC driver I think the company is awesome.
They don't that's why they are always hiring you see them going across Iowa hauling back abondand trucks
When you pay the bills then do what you want but until then I don't get your negative comments! And yes I make sure that my trucks are clean and detailed each and every time they come in!
I'm heading to tmc on 20th of this month... i work hard... follow directions well... nd my pops made me keep my car clean as a youngster and that has followed me... so I think I'll be good...
Are you still with TMC? How was your experience with the company?

@jimmybrown2040 Sorry to hear about your wife getting sick. Hope all is well. Thank you for the reply I appreciate it. Take care
Don't forget the drivers with the safety triangles on the truck get $25 a truck to tell on other drivers.
chris f let me get this straight, so if a tmc driver has these orange triangles on their truck that means they are paid a measly 25 bucks to narc out other tmc drivers?
nice
100% right mark why work for free
I don't get it either
TMC is good for training new drivers that's it! They have a very high turnover rate because I know I worked there as an experienced driver with 24yrs of experience! Shame on me!😳 They made me wash my truck and it was pouring down rain, because I hadn't got my truck truckwash for the week. RIDICULOUS! When they done that to me I was done and that's just the half of it. I could go on for days about this company but if i did no one else would have room to comment Lol! And had the nerve to call and send me a letter about coming back. Wait for it.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wash it in the rain? Brilliant waste of money.
Trucking Answers waste of money? Lol it was free 😂
@@lh32186 still have a utility bill so its not free
@JASON JEFFERSON for what they make in money Utilities it’s not a worry for them
@@lh32186 they were in financial trouble not too long ago cash only at blue beacon bc they didn't pay the bill ontime
Who pays for the cleaning supplies?
Big fan mr mark
That isn't why they do inspection on the truck. It's because the company has marine corps values and they do not trade trucks in.
I think you should pay a nice visit to the barber shop. If you want to look showroom clean!
You would need to be young and naive to drive for them but they do have some of the nicest equipment on the road .
I drove for them from 06 to 2010. I was a driver trainer and on their safety support thing. Truck had to be neat but not show room clean and bed made. Basically they want to make sure the trucks aren’t being trashed. Good co to work for starting out and especially if you want to learn flatbed. As far as employee owned, when the home market crashed in 08, which tmc hauled a lot of building supplies ( shingles, lumber etc ). They almost or did go bankrupt and the lawyers set it up as employee owned. Grass ….. it’s pretty and they don’t want you to walk on it, really not a big deal since they have sidewalks and a huge concrete yard for parking. But I agree …. A lot of money spent for grass. Have a hotel their that is theirs and drivers stay for free unless it’s changed in the past 11 years. 😎
people get the employee owned thing messed up. Employee owned deal came about from Harold not wanting the company to disappear and his refusal to sell it. In order for TMC to be sold, it would have to be approved by all or huge majority of employees. The other part of the employee owned that gets misrepresented is you don't technically own the company but you own stock shares of the company which can only held by the employees. The ESOP is about as close to free money as it gets. A young person who is in their early to mid 20s could have over a million dollars waiting on them when they retire. TMC did not go bankrupt. I have been other places and TMC is the most honest and upfront company I have been a part of. Far as equipment, you can't complain about the rules to use the equipment if it ain't yours. It is not hard to keep a cab clean.
Well I happen to OWN my own showroom... its immaculate..... now the inside of my truck not so much lol
