This was a learning journey your family will remember, recollect and relive for the rest of your lives. The Tesla angle was an excellent way to make the struggles of past travelers more tangible. It wasn't true hardship, but provided enough discomfort to add to the experience. Thank you for sharing this epic family trip, Mr. Beat!

I did not get to stop at all of these places but I felt the same spirit. Wonderful work!
Quick personal note... In the late 1970's, my family owned a rental business and had to flew to Las Vegas from Cleveland, Ohio to rescue an RV we rented out to a family that abandoned it, there. It and they had experienced several mechanical failures on the way west. We had a policy that restricted the RV to travel east of the Mississippi River, but the family insisted on driving across the country and paid us to bring it back. Needless to say, it was an adventure of a lifetime. I remember the engine would stall whenever it rained; in order to get through St. Louis in a rainstorm, I had to bang on the engine cover to keep the RV running. Thanks for bringing that saga back to mind.

I grew up with never versions of the game that included some of the more obscure sites that you mentioned, but I’ve long wanted to travel the Trail myself. It indeed is sad you didn’t find many other fellow travelers on they way, it really sounded like a great experience. This truly is one of your gems that deserve more views.
I can't believe that I sat and watched this whole video! It was factually interesting but, more-so, it was VERY SWEET. It was so nice to see you and your family taking this adventure. Does anyone do the American Road Trip anymore? I'm sure that there was a lot of crankiness and fighting, but you all seemed to be united in the unique journey. I drove across country (DC to Santa Monica US 66->81->40->15->10) by myself this summer (July 2022) with my 15 lb. Terrier. I did it in 7 days with a one-day rest stop in Sedona. I can sympathize on the stress. Even in a gas vehicle, there is uncertainty. Oh, and I'm older than you, so was completely unfamiliar with the video game, and was surprised to learn that it is such a phenomenon. Congratulations.
I made it through this video over five nights while making supper. I'm so proud of myself! Lol ... I'm from the UK and have found most of the more recent American history to be quite boring, but as I crossed the Oregon and California trails a few times recently, and even camped practically right on it one night, unaware, I figured I'd force myself to make the full journey with you. Having driven some of this country, and having hiked in some of these areas, I can at least appreciate (a little bit) the hardships they underwent. Thanks for giving me an easy way to experience the full trip, I will never have a desire to do it myself, so I'll probably be a contributing factor to those empty museums. Lol. Peace, and thanks.
Mr Beat -- a wonderful piece. I learned a lot. Specifically the need to get to Independence Rock by the 4th in order to beat the snowfall. Excellent flow, editing and use of animation to make your point. Plus the angst of driving a Tesla EV gave some perspective on what the original pioneers went through. A refreshing, professional piece for young and old. Bravo - continue to do great things. Steve Z
A extrenuous trip in wagon and electric vehicle. I loved watching this & learning a little bit more about The Oregon Trail & I hope this was a memorable trip for the family!

I think that this is Mr. Beats magnum opus. Might not be his most popular video, but it is his most authentic and interesting video to me, since we are getting to see the real world places of history.
We just watched this video, and we were amazed at how much overlap this trip had with ours we took last summer. We were in Fort Bridger, Lava Hot Springs, Rawlins, Pocatello, etc just two months ahead of you and your family. We even stayed in the same hotel in Rock Springs! We might have crossed paths had our trips happened at the same time.
We've watched this video a few times since I left my first comment. We refer to this one as "Mr. Beat: The Movie." I can't believe it hasn't had more love and attention. It certainly deserves it.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I am so inspired to do this trip and I agree with others the girls will have fond memories of the trip for sure. Very well produced and edited and most of all informative. You shined a light on these incredible museums and iconic pieces of history and reminded us to be grateful for the modern amenities we have.
Thanks for the thoughtful and kind words, Alyssa.
Mr. Beat, you are so underrated! How do you not have a million subscribers?!
I suppose I shall hopefully get to that milestone one day. Thank you for your support!
to be fair, he's three-fifths of the way to a million subs

This is a real treat, what a great idea.
This looks like an awesome summer road trip! Good fun for the family.
I highly recommend it!
Love the dedication and the video game bits...my mom used to play this all the time - a quote from her "Noooooo, not dysentery again"!
You should play as well 🙂
Mr. Beat, this has to be your best vid you have done. Thank you.
Mr Beat is pretty swole guys. I always just assumed Mr Beat was just the typical scrawny nerd but seeing him in action in this video, I think the man works out.
Kids - I wouldn't mess with the beat if I was you. If there is some ruckus in the classroom, Mr Beat is bringing it.

he’s more like that cool teacher that somehow made boring subjects interesting/fun (which is fitting because he’s actually a history teacher)
Truly unfortunate that more people haven't watched this video! It's really well made and your dedication to it is astounding. Look forward to watching the rest of the video!
Just watched the whole thing in one sitting. Definatly adding to my best videos playlist.
I will commit to watching this video after hearing about it with your KB interview.
Thank you!!
Mr. Beat, thank you for the video. Great to have a personal history teacher on the road. It has always amazed me to know that there are spots where the ruts from the wagon heels are still visible. Now I have seen them on video. Again, thank you. I would like to make the trip but not sure my wife would enjoy it. I just noticed on this video that you have passed the 600,000 subscriber mark. Congratulations.
Thank you so much, Steve. Go out and see these ruts yourself!
Hi Steve I hope my comment didn't sound as a form of privacy invasion your comment tells of a wonderful Woman with a beautiful heart which led me to comment I don't normally write in the comment section but I think you deserve this complement. If you don’t mind can we be friends? Thanks God bless you….
Hello Mr.Beat and family!! You are my favourite creator on RUclips!!!! Especially State Comparison Videos!! I just love those videos!! Simply understanding and informative!!!!!
Thanks for making all informative videos...
That is amazing! Thank you so much!
Matt must be such a great dad, he’s such a great guy, may god bless you and your beautiful family for the years to come.
Decided to buy her book! Thanks for the recommendation Mr. Beat!
Hey Mr. Beat! History teacher here from and in the Midwest. Let me just say sir I really enjoy your videos. You are awesome 🙂.
was my history teacher in HS and was the most honest and kind person iv ever met.
So fun! As someone who takes a lot of road trips with his family, I’ve got a few new ideas. Thanks for sharing your trip with us!
Heck yeah
I used to live in Oregon City. That is cool you got to meet World According to Briggs!
Thanks for watching! 😊
Hope you had a nice time in Kearney!! I love it hear!!
You live in Kearney? It's a lovely town. My sister-in-law went to college there
Mr Beat -- a wonderful piece.
Wow what an inspiring video, the oregon trail was something I "knew was a thing" but your video made tangible and... epic! Really appreciate your down to earth style Mr B :)
I don't think I can watch this in one sitting, it's late, but kudos to You Mr. Beat for putting so much effort just from the live stream with JJ McCullough i probably spelled it wrong but you both are two of my favorites and it just makes me realize how human and hardworking you are. I really appreciate everything you do. I wouldn't change the title either. I'm sure a lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into making it so thank you from all of us:)
I never seen a tesla station in my life so his is overwhelming
Wow you weren't kidding about cows
I hate that this video hasn’t gotten more views because I friggin love it.
I visited the Guernsey Ruts two years ago. It was a thought-provoking experience, since my ancestors pulled through those incised ruts. It's hard to imagine taking such a difficult journey that would also take the life of one or two family members.
Glad you got to see them!

This is a lovely video, although a commitment of time. I heard about your trip on Don Wildman's "American History Hit" podcast here in my home in Tseri, Cyprus. It is Sunday morning and so I decided to commit the 1 hour 46 minutes to watching your video. I was born in Topeka, Kansas and remember fondly the references to the Oregon Trail. For me, this video is very nostalgic. Well done to you for making it and to your family for undertaking the journey with you. Well done!
☺️

Mr. Beat I came to watch this video after your recent stream with KB I think it was and you said this was your magnum opus. So I decided to give it a watch, since you’re awesome. It is now my favorite video you have made as well. Thanks for making such an awesome video and thanks to your family for helping!
I had no idea how long the video was until it ended! As a European I have been doing my own research about the trails and I am astounded at how well done this video is! bedankt voor de informatie

Hey Mr Beat, love the videos. Absolutely fantastic video, great details, editing and a good idea!
Keep up the great work
My first cross-country road trip back in 2020 coincidentally followed the Oregon Trail closely, despite me not really knowing anything about it at the time. Awesome to see some of the same locations here.
Such a dry, desolate drive for much of it, isn't it?
@@iammrbeat definitely, especially in Wyoming. I laughed early on in the video when they mentioned how sparse the gas stations were.

11% in a tesla is absolutely OK to arrive to a supercharger to. We have shown up to several superchargers with single digits, even recently from MD to OK to MD. 2013 Tesla model S 85 still kicking on original battery. charges way slower now adays supercharging but totes doable. I bet you guys may be buying an EV soon, yeah?
Maybe not a Tesla quite yet. 😅 We had a lot of trouble with phantom breaking in this one. It was pretty scary on the highways.
@@shannonbeat tks for the reply, yeah I hear the emergency braking can be jarring.

This is probably my favorite video on RUclips. This might be my 15th time watching this video. I wish this video had more views.

Thank you and yes, do it!

Epic video, Mr. Beat. A great watch! Thanks!
Thank you!

I really enjoyed your trip! I was surprised that you chose to drive a Tesla since they don’t take rough roads too well. But I like them too and wish I had one myself. I was disappointed that you didn’t choose to stop at Whitman Mission. But you were late and were running out of time. I used to teach Biology (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) at Walla Walla College and it was just a short bicycle trip to the Mission. But I really enjoyed your trip.
Thanks Mike. Yeah I was bummed we ran out of time. How'd you like living in Walla Walla?
