It wasn't true hardship, but provided enough discomfort to add to the experience. Thank you for sharing this epic family trip, Mr. Beat!

I agree. I think this is the "long form" of a whole series of deep dives. Like, what did Native Americans think? Reparations for slavery - at the very same time as reparations for slavery were not given ("forty acres and a mule"), new immigrants and others were given free land. What was the presence of formerly enslaved in the West (much more than you think - see Prof Quintard Taylor's work)? What was going on with immigrants who didn't come by Trail, but over water from the far east? ( Hint - bad).

Quick personal note... In the late 1970's, my family owned a rental business and had to flew to Las Vegas from Cleveland, Ohio to rescue an RV we rented out to a family that abandoned it, there. It and they had experienced several mechanical failures on the way west. Mr., Mrs., and Minnie Beats out on the open road! Really cool and informative video, I've neglected to learn a lot about the Oregon Trail and Americans moving West so this is helpful. This is great work Mr. Beat, thank you!
I grew up with never versions of the game that included some of the more obscure sites that you mentioned, but I’ve long wanted to travel the Trail myself. It indeed is sad you didn’t find many other fellow travelers on they way, it really sounded like a great experience. This truly is one of your gems that deserve more views.
This was beautiful. You've come such a long way since your Alaska trip, although I loved that one just as much. I'm sorry it took me so long to get to this video, but it's exemplary work! Thanks, as always, Mr. Beat, for everything you do here on RUclips.

I made it through this video over five nights while making supper. I'm so proud of myself! Lol ... I'm from the UK and have found most of the more recent American history to be quite boring, but as I crossed the Oregon and California trails a few times recently, and even camped practically right on it one night, unaware, I figured I'd force myself to make the full journey with you. Having driven some of this country, and having hiked in some of these areas, I can at least appreciate (a little bit) the hardships they underwent. Thanks for giving me an easy way to experience the full trip, I will never have a desire to do it myself, so I'll probably be a contributing factor to those empty museums. Lol. Peace, and thanks.
Came here from Atun-Shei's history quiz with you! This is lovely and I really like how candid it is. Some of my favorite youtube docs are history/niche road trips that document the hiccups along the way, and this hit the nail on the head.
I'm sure it was a bit intense not knowing when you'd find the next charging station or even the next place to stop at all. Not to mention having to care for the loved ones at the same time. You are a superhero Mr Beat!
I can't believe that I sat and watched this whole video! It was factually interesting but, more-so, it was VERY SWEET. It was so nice to see you and your family taking this adventure. Does anyone do the American Road Trip anymore? I'm sure that there was a lot of crankiness and fighting, but you all seemed to be united in the unique journey. I drove across country (DC to Santa Monica US 66->81->40->15->10) by myself this summer (July 2022) with my 15 lb. Terrier. I did it in 7 days with a one-day rest stop in Sedona. I can sympathize on the stress. Even in a gas vehicle, there is uncertainty. Oh, and I'm older than you, so was completely unfamiliar with the video game, and was surprised to learn that it is such a phenomenon. Congratulations.
I visited the Guernsey Ruts two years ago. It was a thought-provoking experience, since my ancestors pulled through those incised ruts. It's hard to imagine taking such a difficult journey that would also take the life of one or two family members.

Good thing you were able to find charging stations along the trail, otherwise you might have to resort to cannibalism for survival. (A real, authentic trail experience.) I knew you brought Mrs. Beat and the whole family along for a good reason. They were just snack food for the trail. 😂

Mr. Beat, thank you for the video. Great to have a personal history teacher on the road. It has always amazed me to know that there are spots where the ruts from the wagon heels are still visible. Now I have seen them on video. Again, thank you. I would like to make the trip but not sure my wife would enjoy it. I just noticed on this video that you have passed the 600,000 subscriber mark. Mr Beat -- a wonderful piece. I learned a lot. Specifically the need to get to Independence Rock by the 4th in order to beat the snowfall. Excellent flow, editing and use of animation to make your point. Plus the angst of driving a Tesla EV gave some perspective on what the original pioneers went through. A refreshing, professional piece for young and old. Bravo - continue to do great things. Steve Z

We might have crossed paths had our trips happened at the same time.

Thanks for being here for the premiere and the kind words!
Mr. Beat only us dorks love road trips like this. Not everyone can appreciate the beauty of the travel in modern day. I can't believe I've saved this so long.
This video is definitely worth watching to the end. Its long, but there is great production value through the whole thing. Very entertaining and informative. Great video
Thank you!
Mr., Mrs., and Minnie Beats out on the open road! Really cool and informative video, I've neglected to learn a lot about the Oregon Trail and Americans moving West so this is helpful. This is great work Mr. Beat, thank you!
Minnie Beats sounds like the name of a female rapper
So happy I found your channel. You’ve inspired me to do this trip when springtime rolls around!
DO IT
I grew up with never versions of the game that included some of the more obscure sites that you mentioned, but I’ve long wanted to travel the Trail myself.
What a fun ride this video was! It sure makes me want to do the trail sometime.
I sure hope you do!
I think that this is Mr. Beats magnum opus. Might not be his most popular video, but it is his most authentic and interesting video to me, since we are getting to see the real world places of history.
Matt must be such a great dad, he’s such a great guy, may god bless you and your beautiful family for the years to come.
This looks like an awesome summer road trip! Good fun for the family.
I highly recommend it!
I really enjoyed this trip with you. Thank you.
This was awesome. Glad you mentioned it in the livestream with hoser, it made me want to watch it after scrolling by it so often.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I am so inspired to do this trip and I agree with others the girls will have fond memories of the trip for sure. Very well produced and edited and most of all informative. You shined a light on these incredible museums and iconic pieces of history and reminded us to be grateful for the modern amenities we have.
Thanks for the thoughtful and kind words, Alyssa.
Mr. Beat! I live in SW WA just outside of Vancouver/Portland, have my whole life. But I never knew we sat at the very END of the Oregon trail! Thank you sir, and keep it up, I love your channel!
Hey Mr. Beat! History teacher here from and in the Midwest. Let me just say sir I really enjoy your videos. You are awesome 🙂.
Dude... this video is a work of art. Well done!
Love the dedication and the video game bits...my mom used to play this all the time - a quote from her "Noooooo, not dysentery again"!
You should play as well 🙂
Truly unfortunate that more people haven't watched this video! It's really well made and your dedication to it is astounding. Look forward to watching the rest of the video!
Me sitting 23 minutes away from the rock at the end of the trail….should I get it? Nah, I’m too lazy.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed Oregon.
Apparently someone already snatched it up anyway!
I mean you're not wrong Mr. Beat the Oregon trail will take you TOWARDS Japan. It just won't take you TO Japan.
This was an awesome video Mr. Beat!
Thank you for the history. I'm a descendant of the Rineharts who traveled across the Oregon Trail, settling in La Grande Oregon.
Hello Mr.Beat and family!! You are my favourite creator on RUclips!!!! Especially State Comparison Videos!! I just love those videos!! Simply understanding and informative!!!!!

That is amazing! Thank you so much!
So fun! As someone who takes a lot of road trips with his family, I’ve got a few new ideas. Thanks for sharing your trip with us!
Heck yeah
Thank you for doing this video. Since playing the game as a child, I've always wanted to do this. Crazy this took the peoole 6 months plus to do compared to 8 days in a car..
I don't think I can watch this in one sitting, it's late, but kudos to You Mr. Beat for putting so much effort just from the live stream with JJ McCullough i probably spelled it wrong but you both are two of my favorites and it just makes me realize how human and hardworking you are. I really appreciate everything you do. I wouldn't change the title either. I'm sure a lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into making it so thank you from all of us:)
I never seen a tesla station in my life so his is overwhelming
Wow you weren't kidding about cows
Mr. Beat thank you for this great video. You can make anything very educational and interesting. I never thought I'd be interesting in seeing 100+ year old wagon tracks. Great editing, music, camera, and facts and commentary.

Just watched the whole thing in one sitting. Definatly adding to my best videos playlist.
Thanks for watching! 😊
Mr. Beat, this has to be your best vid you have done. Thank you.
Glad you got to see them!

What ? There isn't one dysentery joke in the comments?
Good thing you were able to find charging stations along the trail, otherwise you might have to resort to cannibalism for survival. (A real, authentic trail experience.) I knew you brought Mrs. Beat and the whole family along for a good reason. They were just snack food for the trail. 😂

COMPLETING THE OREGON TRAIL IN 24 HOURS FOR $100,000
Congratulations.
Thank you so much, Steve. Go out and see these ruts yourself!
Hi Steve I hope my comment didn't sound as a form of privacy invasion your comment tells of a wonderful Woman with a beautiful heart which led me to comment I don't normally write in the comment section but I think you deserve this complement. If you don’t mind can we be friends? Thanks God bless you….
Steve Z
Just watched the whole thing. Congrats, Mr. Beat! I hope you and your family enjoyed this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thanks for sharing it with us!
As an Oregon City Resident, I am glad you made it here! Oregon City has such a great history and i'm glad you visited!
A extrenuous trip in wagon and electric vehicle. I loved watching this & learning a little bit more about The Oregon Trail & I hope this was a memorable trip for the family!
Ty, I enjoy you videos. I don't travel any more. Your Family is great.
We in Europe don't learn much about US-History in school. Despite that, I love to learn about it through books and RUclips. This looks like a great road-trip, definitely on my bucket list. Greetings from Hamburg to the Midwest👋
My favorite Mr Beat video personally. S tier. It's got everything, criminally underrated views wise. Must be the algorithm being testy
Great video of what sure appeared to be an amazing adventure, Mr. Beats . Your history classes must have been really fun. Thank you to you and your family for taking me on this trip.

I'm only a few minutes but this is a masterpiece. Can't wait to watch the rest after work Beat Family!
It’s crazy how much safer and comfortable travel has become. We take all of it for granted now.
We just watched this video, and we were amazed at how much overlap this trip had with ours we took last summer. We were in Fort Bridger, Lava Hot Springs, Rawlins, Pocatello, etc just two months ahead of you and your family. We even stayed in the same hotel in Rock Springs! We might have crossed paths had our trips happened at the same time.
We've watched this video a few times since I left my first comment. We refer to this one as "Mr. Beat: The Movie." I can't believe it hasn't had more love and attention. It certainly deserves it.
