@@AlexKinPongLo they are “monitoring” you’re system? If you pay for police monitoring they are people in charge on call to call the authorities for you. If you subscribe to Basic Monitoring they need the infrastructure in place, servers, website, etc, to be able to allow you to control the system and notify you when trouble strikes.
It looks a good system. If anyone is installing PIR’s then do not point them at a window, door, garage door that is facing the sun. This will cause a heat spot that can trigger the PIR. Also do not mount them above radiators. Because these have a temperature sensor in them do that adjust for ambient heat? Just asking. Love the video. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I’d like to point out that the Cat 5e cable in your garage is best avoided. Lookout for cables with solid copper as opposed to copper plated. Just some advice for future proofing yourself from degradation.
Hate to break it to everyone but Wireless DIY Intruder Kit is easy to disable using various devices that block signals etc etc. always recommend a professional to install a wired system like Pyronixs etc. The average joe can install DIY kit and will always pay a sub price for various features.
great video i had a boundary system and the user interface was so fiddly and during a power cut it decided to fail which wasnt great and my mrs struggled to use it ,so now got a honeywell galaxy control with backlit pyronix deltabell all hardwired and my mrs can operate it blindfolded
Looks ok but don't see the point of paying a subscription. Loads available like this which work on WiFi and you can also put sim cards in to get phone calls and SMS messages.
I would agree with you apart from the Pro Subscription (when it's launched) will provide Police Monitoring, which is a service worth paying for (for some people). That said if you don't need that then I'd be inclined to agree that you can get very similar tech/product and not pay a subscription.
@@moonpunk it would be great if the police turn up. Otherwise its pointless. Nearest station to our town is at least 20 minuites away and the policing numbers where cut. So chances of them getting to you in time is zero. Nice idea with very little effectiveness. Thats of course if they come at all. Been a lot of thefts in the area and people are still awaiting them to come and takr statements etc.
@@cpjcutts I have a contrasted experience. I'm with ADT - my little boy got hold of my key fob and pressed the panic alarm. I immediately took a call from the ADT Call Centre and I told them it was a false alarm. Within 4 minutes a Police car was on my drive with the officer insisting that he come into the house and check that I wasn't saying it was a false alarm under some sort of duress.
The price of these will get you a wired system and if you put all the wires in yourself it’s just as cheap if an electrician connects it up. Vibration sensors for windows and doors, glass break detectors. These can all be set up so you can walk around your house when the alarm is set. Unlike your pir system
Well after having the system for a couple of months all i can say it needs the bugs sorting out and there are a few. Motion sensors intermittently not picking up motion even when your stud right in front of it. The hub freezing or screen none responsive or losing wifi connection or z wave error and the actual outdoor siren going offline and not reconnecting and numerous other faults. I really wanted to like this alarm but i couldn’t recommend it to anyone.
£10 a month is pretty much on par with my old maintenance contract for an old wired system. Just customised and bought my bundle and saved £409 thanks to your promo code. Nice one .. now subscribed ….
I had 2k€ HKC system in my old house. Mixed of wired and wireless sensors. Worked great, the app was the worst part tho. Best part was that the sensors did have impact detection, something this system appears to be missing. My new house does have an alarm system that the previous owner got professionally installed but it lacks all the smart features. I was trying to order this, but sadly doesn’t ship to the RoI.

Needs Internet connection to communicate that a breach has happened, although you can have the option of using a SIM card as a backup - thereby if someone was to cut your Internet connection then it can still talk back to the Boundary cloud service (and therefore notify you via the app) using cellular data

Hello, I hope you can help me. I have Govee lights around my TV as well as more of their smart lights situated around my lounge. The connection of the lights is 2.4GHZ but my wifi is 5G only in the three networks, is there a way of getting a 2.4GHZ signal using a wifi extender or any other tips you can off would be greatly appreciated. 😊
No crash and smash protection for the keypad/hub? No ethernet against jamming? Z-wave instead of proper radio (Visonic and Ajax have a range of 2kilometers for their sensors). And only 2 years battery ? My old alarm from the early 2000's is actually better than that... Why don't you test Ajax products (7years battery) ? Besides, at least your Yale alarm had a pir-camera unlike that system..
I agree but how much did that cost you vs this price point? One is a pro install and one is an idiot proof DIY install so I get the difference in quality and feature set. I hate the subscription model though so I'd never go for this particular product. The eufy one seems more appealing if you were in the market for a similar style product/budget.
@@ItzD3fW1sH the eufy don't even have a battery backup on the base station... Just cut the power or unplug it and the alarm is dead! No Ajax is a DIY system too and it is really easy to install, far much than Visonic as an example. No need to read the manual everything configures on the app. It is very similar to the simplicity of Boundary. And you pay less because you don't pay any subscriptions

We might have the option for different colours in the future but not right now. The only feature in the Tech Flow video that wouldn't be available on the free monthly plan is Activity Alerts. You would be able to connect 2 door sensors, 2 room sensors and the siren and control the system via the app on the free Lite plan + integrate with some smart home devices. Like I said, you'd get 60 days free Smart plan if you purchased at the moment - giving you time to test the other features such as Activity Alerts and see whether you use those. Have been looking into systems for a while, don't want wireless. I want Poe cameras with pir sensor in it with floodlight and alarm siren. But sofar only see the swan inforcer set. That has all of that, but the reviews I c are quite negative about the brand. I need a 16cam setup.
I can’t see how a system like this can offer police response? An end user isn’t accredited to either NSI or SSAIB and the system I don’t believe is PD6662 compliant meaning police will not issue a URN for the system. I appreciate everyone wants useful and cheap but with security systems surely it’s sensible to leave this to professional installers? I’m not sure security systems that protects homes and families are right for the DIY market and it worries me more systems are coming out enabling inexperienced people to fit them. Paying even £500 for a system with a sensible amount of detectors for for the property is good don’t get me wrong but then being charged £9.99 a month to use it? That’s wrong and how can anyone be expected to pay out for a system they can only use properly by paying additional money! One day when you stop paying, all the money spent is literally dead and the systems only partially useful to say the least.
That's a really good question. The Ring Alarm does have a cellular backup (i.e. SIM Card in the event of an Internet connection failure) but doesn't offer Police Monitoring. Boundary doesn't offer Police Monitoring today, but their Pro Subscription will offer it later this year.
How would this system respond if someone used a wifi blocker? I’ve been reading online and even though they are illegal to use you can buy them fairly cheap. I’m not criticising just interested as I’m looking to installation system and don’t want to waste my money if they are easily floored.
you can get cellular backup for the base station, although the sensors are z-wave and don't need wifi, the base station will need wifi so yes a de-auth attack might work however you can enable protected management frames if your wifi supports it, which will mean the attackers wont be able to just unauthenticated your basestation from your wifi, also they will need to be fairly close by so hopefully CCTV would catch someone sitting outside your property while they found the MAC address of your basestation and the SSID of your wifi network.
Both WiFi and GSM can be jammed (with a chinese inexpensive device that can be bought on Internet) ... Z-wave is a bit tougher but the notifications to owner and surveillance center are sent by WiFi or GSM. I recommend you an Ajax system (with hidden base station and huge range unlike that cheap system, and very long battery life, plus many types of sensors to fit all your needs), you can connect it (or a visonic) by ethernet and it is better to have system connected without wire and with GSM in case the burglar cut the phone line
Does this have HomeAssistant support? I'd love to be able to use this for automation. It would be really cool to be able to (for example) use all of the thermometers to help control my thermostat and use the motion sensors to turn on lights and stuff.
Nothing. The alarm will still function without its internet connection. If the alarm is armed and someone breaks-in then the siren will still be activated. You will also receive a notification to your phone that the hub has disconnected from the internet which would be a cause for concern anyway.
@@triplea2188 The hub has a built in battery that will keep the alarm powered for a few hours. This battery isn't accessible so you would have to destroy the device to completely disable it. Unplugging it would do nothing. Not only that the hub will send you a notification when it loses mains power so you know that the device has been tampered with.
But that's for the Pro service (that hasn't launched yet) and does include Police Monitoring - some people would be willing to pay that. After all ADT currently charge £57 a month for the equivalent service)

Consider Ajax, it is a bit more expensive but it's also grade 2, I think it is a good system I am going to install one soon

you can get cellular backup for the base station, although the sensors are z-wave and don't need wifi, the base station will need wifi so yes a de-auth attack might work however you can enable protected management frames if your wifi supports it, which will mean the attackers wont be able to just unauthenticated your basestation from your wifi, also they will need to be fairly close by so hopefully CCTV would catch someone sitting outside your property while they found the MAC address of your basestation and the SSID of your wifi network.
Both WiFi and GSM can be jammed (with a chinese inexpensive device that can be bought on Internet) ... Z-wave is a bit tougher but the notifications to owner and surveillance center are sent by WiFi or GSM. I recommend you an Ajax system (with hidden base station and huge range unlike that cheap system, and very long battery life, plus many types of sensors to fit all your needs), you can connect it (or a visonic) by ethernet and it is better to have system connected without wire and with GSM in case the burglar cut the phone line

Does this have HomeAssistant support? I'd love to be able to use this for automation. It would be really cool to be able to (for example) use all of the thermometers to help control my thermostat and use the motion sensors to turn on lights and stuff.

What happens if your Internet is down when you are broken into?
Nothing. The alarm will still function without its internet connection. If the alarm is armed and someone breaks-in then the siren will still be activated. You will also receive a notification to your phone that the hub has disconnected from the internet which would be a cause for concern anyway.

@@triplea2188 The hub has a built in battery that will keep the alarm powered for a few hours. This battery isn't accessible so you would have to destroy the device to completely disable it. Unplugging it would do nothing. Not only that the hub will send you a notification when it loses mains power so you know that the device has been tampered with.
