Seems the flight time is less with the 7.5" props and bigger 2809 motors. Many pilots also found that with the chimera7 V2 vs the V1. Shurely it has more power, but power comes out of a lipo being sucked even more.
Yeah, i think iflight said that they use those big motors so the quad can carry a huge lion, like 8000mah+ without problem. Mayby they also put larger motors to make it handle wind better and pull out of dives. It will fly more stable and better. Dont know. I would not put 2809 on a pure LR quad. As you said, less flightime and more sag.
@@minaexperiment Yeah the bigger props and motors can carry the 8000mah battery much better with more Power and control. My 7" long range experience is that a 6s2p 18650 5600mah is about the limit of what still feels good in the air with long flight time. For pure flight feel a 4000mah 21700 pack is actually best. FalconRAD says the same. Konrad is one of the best LR pilots out there on YT.
Thank you for drone review, Cap! Very informative. Let me check: did you have experience with iFlight Chimera 7? In the comments to some other reviews of GEPRC MOZ7 people compare it with Chimera, as similar long range drone. So if you have any practical experience, would be intetested to learn you opinion.
7" drones are all very similar due to their size. It all depends what you are looking for... camera... long range... speed... ability to carry weight, etc. Yes I have a review of the Iflight drone as well.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 , thank you for your reply. I found your video with Chimera 7 soon after asked you my question. Let me ask: if you have to choose only one 7-inch long range freestyle FPV drone with HD o3 video and no specific preference in acceleration, speed, camera (can mount good cinematic camera to both) - which one would you take as more balanced and versatile, pleasant for piloting: Chimera 7 Pro V2 or GEPRC MOZ7?
Hey, thanks for the awesome presentation! I gotta say, you've got me seriously considering pulling the trigger on this drone. But, I've still got a couple of lingering questions that didn't quite make it into your review. So, here goes: What's the deal when the signal goes MIA? I'm curious if this drone's got a knack for going up, up, and away to reconnect, or if it's more of a backtrack and return kind of deal. See, I love cruising with my DJI FPV in the Alps, and every now and then, it goes radio silent. The DJI FPV usually goes on a little vertical adventure to reestablish the connection, but I'm not sure if this drone does the same. If it doesn't, we might have a head-on collision situation with obstacles, right? And then, here's the second head-scratcher: If I slap an 8000 mAh battery and a GoPro on this bad boy, will I have enough wiggle room to adjust the GoPro angle for that perfect shot at top drone speed?
The GPS is called GPS rescue which means if you lose connection with the drone (not video but signal) it will rise up and come back in your direction so you can take over the flight. Keep in mind this is the Advanced FPV hobby and not like the DJI beginner drones with all the flight assistance and safety features, so you can loose video signal but still be connected to the drone & you need to know what to do. Batteries come in all shapes and sizes so it depends on the battery you use as to how much space remains for your GoPro.
Thanks a bunch for this response; I'm grateful for it. So, does the drone initiate the ascent on its own (for instance, if it's positioned behind a mountain peak, will it rise to avoid crashing into it)? I understand you've got a lot on your plate, but please help me clear this up because your response has sparked a new question in my mind: what happens if the video signal is lost? I'm not entirely sure about the distinction between signal loss and video connection loss...@@CAPTAINDRONE798
Great video you always explain everything very clearly. I question today is would you be able to fly the DJI air three and do those flips and rolls with it?
The DJI Air 3 is what is known as a "Beginner GPS Camera Drone". For that reason, the drone does all the flying work and not the pilot, so there is no ability to do flips/rolls or wear FPV Goggles.
Well done Captain!; have to say, this style of Drone when watching from a viewers perspective is definitely "immersive" ; feels like your on board and along for the ride!; now, however, a few questions, I wonder what the flight time would be on a DJI Inspire 1? !! and the battery life? !!!! (sorry, couldn't help that!); last but not least, was that Jedi Steve piloting the RC Jet? !!!!!
Awesome footage! So Captain, wanted to ask for your advice on cheap simple Radio to get some SIM practice on PC. I am trying to help my 8 yr old grandson who is very interested in becoming a skilled pilot... So much is out there and it can get a bit overwhelming. I am fine with a simple and not to technical one to use strictly on SIM for practice. All the experts say that PS n Xbox controllers are out and that we should learn using a real Radio with Gimbals or Sticks. We have Zero experience but are eager to learn and we both completed the TRUST exam. Also, thanks for all the info that you provide which helps the hobby evolve. Respectfully, Carter & Papa
Hello and thanks for this video, it was very helpful.. I purchased this drone PNP, have it built with around 10 flights on it so far, It flies great. However in my OSD the AMPS being used are way off, even at full throttle it only shows around 8 amps. This effects the mah used figure as well so I am unable to use it as a gage for amount of battery used. I did calibrate the voltage using a voltage checker in Betaflight and did the calibration. The voltage seems very accurate on the OSD. However the amps are still way off on the low side by a factor of 3 or so. The Power and Battery tab in Betaflight does not seems to have any way to calibrate the Amperage, just the voltage. I must be doing somethng wrong, any ideas? Thanks for any help you can provide.
I have never adjusted the AMPS setting but my guess is that it should be adjustable within Betaflight Configurator (could be connected to the max voltage or high/low voltage settings).
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanks for the prompt reply. I have searched RUclips looking for an answer to this problem but no one else seems to have experienced this. Maybe I have a bad flight controller and it is just reading the amperage wrong. I can live with it and just use voltage and time flown to gage my remaining battery. Anyway, appreciate you getting back to me
Awesome presentation, my man, thanks! This drone is absolutely mind-blowing! Any chance it's got the same range both in Europe and the USA? Oh, and I've got another one for you: I'm all about flying in the Alps with my DJI FPV, and landing on tricky terrain can be a real headache. I'm used to snagging my drone right out of the air to avoid rough landings. Can this drone be snatched mid-air during landings like that? If not, can it at least switch to a more forgiving Normal mode? And, just one more, I promise :) - can you tweak the camera tilt while it's up there soaring? Thanks a million, buddy, for filling me in!
I would never try to catch this out of the air. This does not have beginner modes like the DJI drones you are used to so be careful. Camera has no motor on it so does not move without the pilot moving it by hand.
So the DJI system uses a combination of remote 2 and goggles, sending/receiving signals. I have never flown over a couple of miles with it. You can go farther but like any device you need a direct connection with no obstacles in between which means flying higher like a DJI MAVIC which defeats the purpose of FPV (in my opinion).
have I understood that correctly? Do I need the Wasp version for the old DJI Goggles V2? Can't you update the firmware and then fly with the HD O3 version?
Hey Steve , thanks for the info, can you please elaborate on how this drone looks like when you open the box. Is it in 100 pieces or is it easy to assemble ? Best Greg 😇
The unbox is shown in the video. Every person in the FPV Drone hobby began at level zero with knowledge and skills. They all did a pile of research because the hobby is very confusing. Keep researching so that you know what to expect. You need to learn how to operate an RC battery charger and understand batteries. You need to understand RECEIVERS and TRANSMITTERS and CONFIGURATION software. Finally you need amazing hand/eye skills to fly and not crash.
Good afternoon sir Steve I'm just wondering if your selling your old drone if so what's the cheapest price and do you do shipping I'm actually from Philippines and I am dreaming for my personal drone
Hey steve looking to purchase a budget drone... It doesn't have to be a drone with great camera for videos.... Simple photos would do .. Just looking for something reliable to practice my flying skills ... Something around 150 usd or lower will be fine.... I request you to make more videos on the budget drones... Love your work as always... Thank you :)
3:25 you made it sound like the goggles v2 won't work with the air unit. I just want the audience to be aware the 03 unit works for dji goggles 2 and dji goggles v2. not v1 tho
What are the regs using a drone like this regarding line of sight (ie need to fly within sight) - Obviously with goggles on you are not looking at it, if using the goggles counts as keeping it in sight that is a great way of extending the range, no?
This is not a drone for beginners. I'm detecting that from your question you would be a beginner. If you are a beginner, start with a RTF (Ready To Fly) Kit, like the ones I've reviewed from BETAFPV, EMAX, SUB250, GEPRC, etc.
Ive been flying analog for a while and took a break, wanting to get into digital. Been out of the loop, so I dont know whats the best or worst controller and headset. I've heard of matching dji controller and headset for good experience, just wanted your opinion. @@CAPTAINDRONE798
Captain drone is gatekeeping a little bit. Once you get good, you’ll be glad you have the real thing. All these drones are built to take a beating, it’s really not that serious.
Wow, cool drones! But what is this 1280 kv figure? "kv" in my electronics tech world is "kilovolts", or 1,000 volts. This couldn't mean that, right? Steve, please explain! I love watching you flying these lightspeed FPV drones. It's amazing! But the practicalities of my world make FPV extraneous. If you fly FPV with goggles here in the UK, the drone law requires that you have a "spotter" to observe your flight and able to warn you of airspace problems that you might not notice due to being in the goggles. I suspect that a lot of FPV flyers here ignore the law. I don't, and my wife is not particularly interested in being my "spotter". Another factor is that my primary interest is with getting cinematic videos and aerial photography. This MOZ 7 flies way too fast to get decent cinematics, I believe. Or can it fly slower so as to get good cine?
Brushless Kv motor discussions are plentiful on RUclips, especially for FPV drones, so I won’t spend 25 lines repeating here (my fingers will cramp). In Canada (my country) we use spotters when flying around people or if flying high in private/commercial airspace. In the old days I wasted time in vids pointing out spotters and their function, but honestly it is not my job to point out the thousands of rules a drone pilot needs to follow in every single video. However, anyone watching my vids will always see my fly at tree top level, avoid where humans exist, and fly in the quiet early times of day when there is no activity. Safety is key in all my vids.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 - Thanks for the Kv clue. I can now look it up myself. Wasn't sure whether it was a typo, or some kind of arcane slang! You never know with this kind of a thing -- as a retired computer programmer, I've gotten into conversations with my peers that even a genius in another field would have been completely flummoxed over! Wasn't sure about the drone laws in Canada, and I wasn't suggesting you weren't flying safely. You've always seemed to me to be a very safety conscious flyer. Another drone review channel, one based in Hawaii, once flew a drone ten miles over to another island off Oahu -- where he absolutely couldn't have had VLOS. Surprised the FAA didn't fine him for it.
@@cyberherbalist I can say that from my fellow Drone pilots in the USA, that the FAA really does not have the resources to reach out to every drone pilot doing something incorrect, unless of course their is a complaint. So, the rule of thumb is.... Don't fly around people because even if one is following the rules, it just takes one individual to believe you are annoying them and lodging a complaint with the FAA. In Canada, surprisingly, the only drones I often see are mine or my fellow friends. Rarely have I ever seen a stranger flying a drone, so I must conclude that either there are few drones in my area or people are wise and fly the drones in locations where other humans are not playing.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 - That's kind of my experience in the UK, too! In five years of drone flying, I've happened upon exactly two other people who were flying drones when I was. I try to avoid flying in the sight of others, because there are Karens all around us. But I am aware of some people who have posted drone flights that were obviously against the rules, and gotten dinged by the FAA. But, as you say, probably because somebody reported them.
I understand that you are trying to make sales with your video. You really downplayed the DJI V2 as if they don't give an excellent display. The new Googles are not that much better just a smaller form factor. Represent in a honest way. Let's keep the hobby fun and affordable for all. Keep posting 😊😊
If I was trying to make sales I would be paid and employed or sponsored by GEPRC. All of which I’m not. If you watch a RUclips vid and your opinion differs then don’t assume the person on RUclips is making shit up for the purpose of sales.
Good video indeed. Wonder why you never mention the ridiculous price? It's $735.00 with the TBS option. The market for these is very small and I do not see the use of them practical. Long Range, I laugh at that when LOS is all you can legally fly in the USA unless you have a good lawyer.
man you are killing the batteries..... lipo can be destroyed in one flight if any cell drops down from 3.5 v.... rarely can recover to work properly..... you land at 3.6 minimum and storage at 3.85....also bigger batteries means more weight so at the end you may burn esc or FC.....for so much distance someone buys DJI Mavic or something no racing freestyle drones.... lately my luck punish me 3 times in a raw.... bought the best esc FC and motors to build a 250+klm drone and all three times esc burned everything without reason on bench one time while was testing settings on betaflight puff it smoked and then if I plugged battery to check what happened it was burning motors and half fiction of FC...3 times total 6-7 flights maybe... T-motor yea baby the best.... even crossfire Rx killed... first time I see something like this in my 10 building years
I would never trust dji remote as soon as u loose video you lose radio also I have the tango 2 with crossfire and would maybe use elrs but never dji controller
Where was your observer? FPV rules state you must have an observer when using FPV goggles. Great video but please add something like.." I know you are meant to have an observer but I am only flying for a couple of minutes" or something so you mention legal duties of a drone pilot for the newbies. Happy flying.
Years ago I would point out my observers, but then it just became annoying to the audience so it occurs no more. There are a million Transport Canada rules not mentioned in this and all my vids, however safe practices are always observed.
@@Anadrol88 The Law is the law, a public video can influence people, I make no attack on the man, just ask him to show sensible points that show the rules people must conform to.

Looks insane nice set up
Thank you for drone review, Cap!
@@Quetzalcoatl-tq7suI would then buy the one that costs the least
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 , thank you once again for your answers!
Have at look at some of the inexpensive BETAFPV radios. Many work with flight sims through USB.
Great footage
Thanks man! @@CAPTAINDRONE798
Captain Drone,.The Lipo Killer!
I actually have a T-Shirt that says just that
I see you’re using the dji rc 2 on a long range , does that mean the redundancy issues have been resolved? I was skeptical on using it over TBS
Old version is not V2 but rather V1. You can configure goggles to be backward compatible, if you have the correct firmware, but most users avoid that.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 So can I also fly the version you flew in the video with the Goggles V2?
@@swissfpvshotsYes
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thank you for your help
Hey Steve , thanks for the info, can you please elaborate on how this drone looks like when you open the box. Is it in 100 pieces or is it easy to assemble ?
Best
Greg 😇
The unbox is shown in the video. Every person in the FPV Drone hobby began at level zero with knowledge and skills. They all did a pile of research because the hobby is very confusing. Keep researching so that you know what to expect. You need to learn how to operate an RC battery charger and understand batteries. You need to understand RECEIVERS and TRANSMITTERS and CONFIGURATION software. Finally you need amazing hand/eye skills to fly and not crash.
Start watching my old video series entitled. CAPTAIN DRONE FPV FOR BEGINNERS episodes 1 to 12.
Does it come equipped with remote ID from GEPRC?
It is an FPV drone, so no.
Mornin’ Cap’n !!
Can you guide me to a vid for binding a GEPRC to my DJI goggles 2 and FPV V2.
Thank You Sir 👍🏽
I neglected to say a GEPRC Cinelog 20 DJI 03 PNP model.

I have a question building a 7in speed cruiser/ freestyle drone I’m stuck on what’s a good battery to give me decent flight time but also great power.
4000 mAh is common for 7inch (usually 6s lipo).
You can use an O3 with v2 Goggles.. You do not need Integra or goggles 2 to use the O3..
It is DJI so you can't be so sure to mix their old and new products. Works today, next may may not, cause of firmware update.
@@arQadjoAs of right now and since it came out iv been useing the v2 and 03 set up with out issues
Yes, I clearly mentioned that… did I speak to quickly and people missed it?
Ok, I see the problem, I wrote it on the screen at 3:32 (regarding V2 goggles) but I’m guessing not everyone noticed it.

Good afternoon sir Steve I'm just wondering if your selling your old drone if so what's the cheapest price and do you do shipping I'm actually from Philippines and I am dreaming for my personal drone
I do not sell drones
How many kilometers can I go?
Hey steve looking to purchase a budget drone...
It doesn't have to be a drone with great camera for videos....
Simple photos would do ..
Just looking for something reliable to practice my flying skills ... Something around 150 usd or lower will be fine....
I request you to make more videos on the budget drones...
Love your work as always...
Thank you :)
Budget beginner drones that are good would be the FIMI MINI V2 that I just reviewed.
Have you tested or intend to test the MK5D-LR7?
As of today it is not on my list, but my list changes weekly.
3:25 you made it sound like the goggles v2 won't work with the air unit. I just want the audience to be aware the 03 unit works for dji goggles 2 and dji goggles v2. not v1 tho
Please watch again, as I saw the V2s work, then I go on to speak about the Wasp system which also work with V1 and V2.
Have a look at the screen (right side) at 3:32. I’m guessing not everyone noticed this.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798okay yeah I see that now 👍
What are the regs using a drone like this regarding line of sight (ie need to fly within sight) - Obviously with goggles on you are not looking at it, if using the goggles counts as keeping it in sight that is a great way of extending the range, no?
Regs are as per your country for unmanned remotely controlled objects 250 grams and up.
The DJI 03 does work with v2 goggles
Yes, and that was mentioned in the video.
Have a look at the right side of the screen at 3:32. I wrote the answer there but not everyone noticed it.
What would you think would be the best way for a person to get a drone for free from a company?
You mean like steal one? :-)
Companies do not give away free drones that I'm aware of. Everything comes at a cost.
With this drone what would you recommend for controller and headset?
Hi Steve. I enjoyed the video but I bet those batteries didn't....😁
Do the integra goggles work with the 03?
Yes

👍👍👍
I understand that you are trying to make sales with your video. You really downplayed the DJI V2 as if they don't give an excellent display. The new Googles are not that much better just a smaller form factor. Represent in a honest way. Let's keep the hobby fun and affordable for all. Keep posting 😊😊
If I was trying to make sales I would be paid and employed or sponsored by GEPRC. All of which I’m not. If you watch a RUclips vid and your opinion differs then don’t assume the person on RUclips is making shit up for the purpose of sales.
03 works well with v2 goggles
Yes, the video shows that around the 3:30 mark.
1.19V at landing lol That voltage dropped quicker then gravity
hi photonees, have you become a flat earther yet?
sorry i laughed so hard when i see 1.7 volts at screen 🤣🫣
Yup, lower than I expected
Good video indeed. Wonder why you never mention the ridiculous price? It's $735.00 with the TBS option. The market for these is very small and I do not see the use of them practical. Long Range, I laugh at that when LOS is all you can legally fly in the USA unless you have a good lawyer.
This is the standard price for a 7” with DJI O3.
man you are killing the batteries..... lipo can be destroyed in one flight if any cell drops down from 3.5 v.... rarely can recover to work properly..... you land at 3.6 minimum and storage at 3.85....also bigger batteries means more weight so at the end you may burn esc or FC.....for so much distance someone buys DJI Mavic or something no racing freestyle drones.... lately my luck punish me 3 times in a raw.... bought the best esc FC and motors to build a 250+klm drone and all three times esc burned everything without reason on bench one time while was testing settings on betaflight puff it smoked and then if I plugged battery to check what happened it was burning motors and half fiction of FC...3 times total 6-7 flights maybe... T-motor yea baby the best.... even crossfire Rx killed... first time I see something like this in my 10 building years
3.2v is fine and as low as 3v after cooling down. What are you on about?
How should the fc suffer from over amperage?
I would never trust dji remote as soon as u loose video you lose radio also I have the tango 2 with crossfire and would maybe use elrs but never dji controller
Nice landing a 6s at 7 volts lol
Can you give me a drone 😅😊
that first battery is not safe take that out of your house
thats what i was thinking lmao, usually there is a fine line to land to recover up to 3.5v😭😭😭

3.2v puffy battery after a few minutes: FAIL.
To be fair it was on 7.3v when it landed on a 6s!,so not surprising it got puffy,in my quads I always come in when it settle’s consistently at 21v
Why are you so annoying, Captain Drone makes amazing videos leave him alone.
