I saw the movie for the first time as a kid (13 maybe) and LOVED it. It was funny, it was fun, it had a lot of small jokes and phrases that gave it an upbeat feeling.
I watched it tens of times since then and still love it. I don't think its trying to be anything but fun and wacky.
As I see it, it its a movie about friendship and family and doing good. Of course they do "good" via a LOT of killing but that's beside the point.
Another thing I really liked about the movie (and still do) is that it didn't have some cheap love story, or any for that matter. It was all about the brothers and their (somewhat of a looser) friend.
First they wanted to avenge the attack on the bar and on them' they found that the mafia set their friend up and wanted to avenge that too. And maybe give Rocco some sense of meaning on account that he was a mere package boy.
The movie starts with the church scene, where the reverend talking about Kitty Genovese's murder and how doing nothing in the face of evil is like being evil.
So the brothers take it upon themselves to solve the crime that the law cant solve.
I think the moral (if there is any) is don't ignore the wrongdoing around you, and the movie says it in an exaggerated and somewhat grotesque way.
About Rocco: he's some sort of friend of the director or something, I think he wasn't suppose to be in the movie at first but then he just kinda fit the general vibe... idk
Also, he is the "funny man" because the his mob "friends" are making fun of him behind his back. Meaning, they laugh AT him...
Anyhow, if one watches the movie for the enjoinment of it and not with a critical purpose in mind, I think one will, indeed, enjoy it.
    Cheers

My general thoughts about the movie is it’s rough around the edges but it’s one of those movies you can just put on after a long day and just relax. It’s not something that will get you questioning life and it’s not a film with some genre changing idea. If you find the jokes funny, it’s mindless fun. If you don’t, it’s simply just a dude’s somewhat passable first attempt at a movie

Yeah I'm just going to have to say that love this movie. I can watch it over and over again. It's in the same realm as The Expendables. Mindless fun and off culture humor.

I was just watching the film to see if I still feel any different towards it because when I first saw this film, I hated it. Now that I see it, I just see another action film trying to be like Tarantino. At this time I was getting into John Woo films and Hong Kong cinema, which have better action scenes and much more colorful characters than this has. I was also getting into a lot of other foreign flicks like Run Lola run, city of God and movies directed by Takashi Miike. Boondock saints pales in comparison to any of those films I mentioned and still to this day cannot understand the fandom that it has. Even for a Tarantino knockoff, I've seen better. I don't hate the film but I don't see why its on people's top ten list of favorites. Great video and keep up the good work.

I think there was supposed to be hidden meaning that got lost in the script

To be fair it's not a great movie and I don't think the story is good but I just love watching it to see friends' reactions. It has great moments even though it's not a good film and it's just a good time to sit through. Like if The Room was an action movie in a sense because Boondock Saints is quotable as hell.

For those that say they like this movie…..you don’t like this movie. Eg, the guy drags a toilet….upstairs (with no way of knowing which way they are taking his brother) to drop it on one of the Russians then jumps down six stories on to the other one. The lived on the 5th and he took the toilet to the roof.

It’s a movie bruh. Every single movie has points where u can say shit like this, it’s what separates a movie from reality

So as a diehard fan. I'd say here you go:
    For a story:
Kill Bill is fkn terrible story. There's actually a racist scene where she goes to an old asian monk and learns super sword skills. fkn shaolin showdown childish. It's fully carried by great scenes, hot women, great acting, and wonderful filiming. Boondocks Saint is the story of two meat workers becoming vigilantes after realizing that they killed 2 mobsters and the cops didnt punish them. Twice as good as teen bruce wayne sees his parents die but he's a super genius that makes super tech, a batcave and takes over his parents business as a vigilante wanting justice.
    For editing;
It's an old flic using a flashback strategy (usually frowned upon as forced in film) as it's main way to convey a sense of time and mystery. This is done a lot in cheesy crime tv shows now, but at the time was revolutionary, and fans think it's geniusly done
    For Rocco:
He represents a more normal person in this mob run city. He says racist jokes and gets by in the mob. He's the plot device in that he knows everyone in the mob hence the scene "If he went to the cops he could destroy us, but for now he's happy just killing us."

I have to tell you a story. I saw this movie when it came out and almost walked out! I don't know about the UK but here in America people loved it, and some still do. I must say for me at the time in the 90's and early 2000's there were two movies that everyone talked about that I absolutely cannot stand are this movie and Donnie Darko. In my opinion this movie had know real structure or story. I like a lot of the actors but all of the characters were shit. I do not find any redeeming characteristics. This movie makes me ill. Great job guys I cannot wait until next week.

Interesting comment on Donnie Darko as that was something we both watched together as kids and I seem to recall us enjoying it?
Been a long while since my last watch though so it could be another contender for an episode! If you can bear it that is ha

@@andydonaldson6 OH please No! Just joking , for me I always thought that the movie and the people who liked Donnie Darko just give it to much credit for being so deep, but for me it is just pretentious drivel. Don't get me wrong I like the actors I just think that there performances didn't shine through, I fact I thought they over acted. For me the story just didn't keep me interested I have seen it three times, but it took me about a dozen times to get through it. Have a great week my friend!

Yeah this film is a load of bollox to be honest, although I get the strong following we all have our guilty pleasures but for me this was plain boring. Sad when it doesn’t even have fun action sequences to fall back on.
