Fab video Paul. Really liking the pylon mount position. 👍🏻
Thanks Ian. Problem is it’s going to cost me another GoPro!
great video paul. Easy to understand and very informative. Have been doing the same sort of thing in Australia for a while now and its great to see something that makes the journey better. Wondering if you might make one that goes through the whole process to final video. Just a thought. cheers love this channel
Always looking for new ideas so I’ll add this idea to the list. RUclips video, from idea to final video and all steps in between. 👍
Thanks, very helpful
Thank you. Hope it was of some use. 👍
Hi Paul: I've just discovered your channel. Bravo et Merci. Lots of excellent advice. From my point of view 360° cameras offer a lot of advantages and editing is not that complicated. The best position I've found is at the tip of the wing, as you can see from the videos on my channel.
Hi and thank you for subscribing. I'm still undecided about 360 cameras. I know that they can give some amazing views but I already find editing hard work so want to keep it as simple as possible. Who knows though, I might take the plunge eventually. Which 360 camera would you recommend?
I can recommend the insta360X3, which also has excellent software. @@paulieb796
Nice one Paul, I'll have to learn more from you and vlogging angles. Really good audio and inflight chat.
Thanks Giles, but I think we all know who is the student and who is the master. 🙇♂️
@@paulieb796 never stop learning, I learnt a few things from yours.
Paul - Your communication setup sounds really clear. It would be great to see a video on where and how you have set up your radio/antenna? We are getting problems with receiving!!
Thanks for watching. There’s nothing fancy about my radio setup. I have a handheld radio clipped to my harness. I have had a few requests for a video about my audio setup so watch this space. 👍
@@paulieb796 Forgot to mention - another easy-to-follow with great content video. So I must be another 'requester' for the audio setup then :-). Keep them coming . . . .

Very helpful
Glad it helped. 👍
Good Job here Paul, 👍🏻👏
Thanks but as my mum, you are obliged to say nice things. 🤣
Hi Paul. It was great to meet you and your good lady this week. Just catching up on your videos and I have to say this one is edited beautifully. Well worth the effort for the end result. Hope to see you again soon as I scrabble my way into the air like a demented lemming. 😁
Likewise Dan. The next best thing to flying is sitting around a BBQ, drinking beer and talking about it with like minded folk. See you again soon for more of the same. 👍
@@paulieb796 Amen to that! 👌👍😁
Helpful. Thx
Thanks for the comment. It takes quite a lot of time to film and edit these videos so it is good to know I am not wasting my time.
Keep up the good content 👍
Thank you. I’m working on it. 👍
Great video can we have one on how you do the audio ta
Hi Nick. Thanks for the sub. Leave it with me. I’ll add it to my list of video ideas. 👍
Hi Paul, enjoying your videos and your very natural `patter,` as you fly along. The camera on the pylon (looking forward) is definitely a good view showing very much what you are seeing. If you are thinking getting another camera consider a 360, they can do the work of four cameras. Would be interested to know you audio set up as it is excellent quality. Keep the vids coming.👍
Thank you for the comment. I had considered a 360 but am told that editing the footage isn’t so simple. Will definitely be doing a video on my audio recording.
Hi Paul, I use an insta360 camera and the editing is, `simples,` I`m an old fart and not that good with techno stuff and I manage it, you can get some great results, their slogan is `a camera crew in one camera,` and it is true, switch it on, forget about and edit once on the ground. This is one of my vids.🤣 ruclips.net/video/xp4_3QaOyWg/видео.html
Amazing! The camera on the pylon was great!! Do you record with 4k or 1080p? Is it necessary to change the battery during the flight? I've heard that the battery lasts very few in higher resolutions.
I compromise and shoot in 2.7k. That way you still have enough resolution to crop in a bit but the file sizes aren’t too big. My computer also struggles to edit 4k video and I think very few people actually watch on 4k devices. So for now I shoot in 2.7k but upload in 1080p. I find my GoPro batteries last about 1hr. I don’t have any facility to charge in flight but I have seen people run their cameras off external power banks. 👍
@@paulieb796 thank you!!
Helpful video Paulie, I will pick up that swivel mount.
BUT the thing that has blown me away with your videos is the sound quality, clear as a bell!
Flying hang-gliders even with with a foam sound cover I get wind noise that is not noticeable when flying. Flying 1000ft AGL I can hear frogs and crickets below me, it is wonderful but the playback has an annoying hiss. In the Sub-70, GoPro imitates a flying fortress.
What setup do you have or how do you clean it up?
I have had a few comments about the quality of the audio on my videos and a number asking how I record my voice while flying. Enough comments to convince me I ought to make a video showing how I do it. Watch this space!
@@paulieb796 Thank you 😎👍
Hi Paul, excellent video as always! Do you have a preferred resolution, frame rate and zoom setting for your camera when flying? Ta muchly
Hi Rob. I shoot at 2.7k. 4k leads to huge file sizes, my computer struggles to edit 4k especially if I have multiple cameras and few people actually watch in 4k. 1080p is fine to shoot in but it doesn’t give much scope for cropping in before the picture looks at bit rubbish. 2.7k I find is a good compromise between the two. I shoot my flying footage at 60fps as this gives an option of slowing down the footage by up to 50% without the footage getting stuttery. If I’m am not likely to want to slow footage down, eg stuff I film in my office then I will shoot at 25fps. In terms of zoom, I like to use a wide field of view when flying as I think it is more immersive but I will use a narrower field of view for anything else. I’m still experimenting though. 👍
@@paulieb796 many thanks Paul, I need all the help I can get with my Gopro. I have put my name down for the Grand Tours so may meet up later this year!
Nice Video :)
Thank you. And thank you for subscribing. There are more videos on the way. 👍
Great feature Paul. I’m thinking of getting a GoPro for my Gyro …. Which one do you use?
Hi David. I have 2 GoPro Hero 9’s. Soon to be three after this video. 👍
@@paulieb796 thanks Paul, need to invest in at least one 😊
@@DavesGyroAdventures it’s a great way to share your flying experience with others. Especially for me as I only have one seat!
Trying to figure out how to record audio from my Comtronics headset to the GoPro 7 black. Any ideas? Thanks!
I’m not familiar with the Comtronics headset, so do t know what audio out it has. However one option that always works surprisingly well is to tape a small lav mic inside the earcup and the plug this into a media mod for the GoPro. 👍
@@paulieb796
Please tell me what a lav mic is. I’m ignorant.
@@greggschachterleppc2769 I’ve done a separate video on audio. I talk about Lav mics about 13 mins in this video. ruclips.net/video/UrZr6u0jC5A/видео.htmlsi=ihEtJLVSpyTlxgXB
@@paulieb796
Thank you sir!
Do you turn your camera on and off using the phone app? I don’t know if it’s my particular GoPro 8 but if I leave it running too long the file gets corrupted and won’t play. I’ve also found the app not to be very reliable at starting and stopping the camera.
I have used the app to turn on the wing mounted GoPro as I can’t reach it from the cockpit. I also use the app to preview footage so I can make sure the cameras are pointing in the correct place. Not had any problems with files getting corrupted. What resolution do you film in. Higher resolutions demand a very fast SD card. 👍
@@paulieb796 It’s a fast card, Sandisk extreme. Its actually only a couple of times it’s done it, frozen on one frame for the whole clip with just the sound going. The camera has stopped responding to the app a couple of times. Most annoyingly, when I’ve seen something I really wanted to record.
@@NicholasStreet other than making sure the camera is updated with the latest software and regularly reformatting the card (in the camera), not sure what else to suggest. 🤔
Sticking your camera on your helmet. I must have the same childish sence of humour.
The minute I said it, I was back in the playground!!
I like my headcam view to see my clocks.
