I really want to read the Six of Crows duology, The Infernal Devices and the Caraval trilogy this autumn. I feel like the vibes of these series could be perfect for fall🧙🧛🦇
@@seochangbinsarms It makes me even more excited! Thank you for letting me know! I'm probably gonna read it in November when it's dark, gloomy and foggy outside🌫️
Frankenstein is on my TBR for this October too. I plan on reading in tandem with the audiobook. That's what I did with Dracula two years ago and I highly recommend it. The older English can cause the reader to slow down. It just doesn't read as quickly for us since it's a bit older. The audiobook just keeps the pace going and a consistent flow.
After you read "The Italian," you may want to read "Northanger Abbey" by Jane Austen. She pokes fun at the conventions of Gothic lit. It's really fun. And if you want an academic but very readable book about Gotic literature, pick up "The Madwoman in the Attic: The Woman Writer and the Nineteenth-Century Literary Imagination: " by Sandra Gilbert.
"Everyone in my family has killed someone" is sooo fun, it's my favourite book of the year so far, it has thrilling reveals but nothing scary or spooky, the way it's told makes it cozy, fun and funny, I hope you love it too! I can't wait to read the second book in the series once it comes out (the mysteries won't be connected) since it's on a train and I love that setting
So happy that you’re finally getting round to Frankenstein! If you need help staying motivated, check out the audiobook, it’s narrated by Dan Steven and it’s excellent 👌 My answer, I am currently reading my most anticipated and that’s You’re Not Supposed to Die Tonight 🦉🐈⬛👻
I love The Alchemist's Daughter! If you can get it, I recommend the audiobook: the narrator is amazing at doing all the ladies's voices, and it's even more fun when they interrupt the story. Also, your ghosty pop socket is so cute!
Love your classic book choices. I have read all 3 - Frankenstein, Dracula and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. They are all very well done and I hope you like them. If you wind up enjoying Jekyll and Hyde, I recommend picking up Mary Reilly, which tells the story of Dr. Jekyll from the point of view of his maid, Mary Reilly, who has some interesting issues of her own. 😊
I always l or watching these videos and getting ideas for my own spooky TBR! I also would love to see a fall fashion haul because you always have incredible outfits!
I’m planning on reading the classics you mentioned too actually. I read Frankenstein in high school and liked it, I always reread the Night Circus in October after that I’m going with the Vampire Chronicles and rereading one of my favorites I Who Have Never Known Men. That’s one I recommend it’s very hard to explain but something I try and get everyone to read.
After being in a reading slump all year I finally picked up a book and boy do I need new reading glasses 😂. I had to buy some magnifying glasses in the meantime and they are a game changer. I can even see better to thread my sewing needles. The joys of being 51! 😂
I think you will like September House - definitely not scary but it has spooky elements similar to Hendrix and Kingfisher. Not quite as campy as Hendrix though. Fun fast read!
Omg I think this month is going to be brilliant. I want to read every book you’ve suggested 👻 Halloween Party is a must I think the the read along with Gavin will be so much fun 🕸️
Have you ever read Jane Austen’s “Northanger Abbey”? I think you’d love it if you haven’t, the main character and her friend love gothic literature (particularly Ann Radcliffe’s work), and it’s basically a parody and Austen’s commentary on gothic literature, it’s great haha
Both Dracula and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is awesome, you'll love it. I'm actually going to start Frankenstein today, I'm so excited for my spooky reads this month. Good luck with the Shining; that was one book I didn't like. hope you get something out of it when I didn't.
I just recently finished A Peculiar Peril, and it was so odd and quirky! I ended up loving it and giving it 4 stars. The characters were easy to fall in love with and the events throughout the book kept me curious the whole time! Definitely recommend if you don't mind weird!
You need to check out Ravenfall by Kalyn Josephson! It is right up your alley. Spooky middle grade with a encanto style house. It’s also a Barnes and Noble book of the month this month!
I watched the shining for the first time a couple of years ago, and I watched it during a snow storm! It is now my favorite scary movie ❤ I loved it and I don't like to scary but there was something about it . ❤❤
I really want to read The Secret History by Donna Tartt and The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna. I also want to read In These Hallowed Halls (a new Dark Academia anthology) as well as Maeve Fly by CJ Leede, Murder in the Family by Cara Hunter, and A Season with the Witch by J.W. Ocker. I’ll be spending the last week of October in Salem with my friends (most of us have birthdays on or around Halloween) and I’m so excited! 🧡🧙♀️🧡
I love seeing everyone’s fall tbrs😊 I’m wanting to read The Graveyard Book, Over My Dead Body, Cinders & Sparrows, Dracula, Belladonna, Garlic & The Vampire, and The Little Ghost Who Was A Quilt 🕸️
I just wanted to reach out and say how much I enjoy your videos and your channel. You have inspired me to start reading again ❤ I told one of my work friends about you and your channel, and it inspired us to form a book club. Our work lunches are so much fun now! We are teachers, and we are grateful to take a moment and do something we enjoy together. We are currently reading the Agatha Christie, Hallowe'en Party. It is so much fun!! Every lunch, we are guessing and coming up with theories about who committed the crime. We are already trying to pick our next read. Thank you for being the reminder to "keep our heads in the clouds and our hearts in the books." ❤❤ Happy Autumn. 🍁🎃
I ordered the same two books on BOTM! Not sure when I’ll get to them tho. I’ve got a tie for what I’m most excited to read next. The book of Magic by Alice Hoffman on audio and The Stranger Upstairs by Lisa M Marlin. My whole Oct TBR is 10 books more. I wish this month had more than 31 days !!! 🧛♂️👻🎃
🕷 🕸 ❤ I’m currently reading “Ordinary Monsters” and love it. Over halfway through it. It’s a chunker. 🙂 I’m reading Edgar Allen Poe’s stories on the side.
My seniors read the first 8 chapters of Dracula and will have an escape room in the auditorium on the last Friday of the month, and my sophomores are going to read Carmilla by Sheridan le Fanu.
I love your videos, I play them all the time when I am cooking. I just enjoy your energy and they always cheer me up. I love reading so I enjoy your take on the books you recommend. You always bring a smile to my face. 😆🥰🤪
Topping my list of spooky books I want to read this October are Clown in a Cornfield and Salem's Lot. So I guess I'm tipping the scales wayyyy past spooky and venturing into full on scary territory lol.
There is also a movie called The Shining made from the book The Shining. In the movie the hotel they filmed in was The Stanley Hotel in Colorado which is supposed to be haunted for real. You should watch the movie after reading the book.
I read Frankenstein for the first time last year and loved it! I still remember like it was yesterday, a certain scene that made my heart squeeze, and I teared up. I was sitting in my living room reading, it was a Sunday before getting ready to go to church. I finished that part and looked at my husband with teary eyes. 😅 I don't normally buy physical books, and after I finished reading my second-hand copy, I found a gorgeous edition of Frankenstein and bought it for my small book collection. 😊
Such a fun TBR! Spooky season is the best! I've also put Frankenstein and Dracula on my TBR for the month, and I am so glad I'm not the only bookworm who hasn't read them! 👻
I really was looking forward to reading Bewitched by Laura Thalassa and Assistant to the Villain. I read them both in a few days and truly enjoyed. Now I am looking for my next spooky read.
I have read several gothic novels. Dracula is a favorite, so is The Romance of the Forest by Ann Radcliffe. This spooky season I'm working on The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe, Zofloya by Charlottel Dacre, and Uncle Silas by Sheridan Le Fanu.
I'm so glad I found your channel, finally I've found someone I can relate to and who like the same kind of books that I do. And I love the spooky season too 😈👻🎃🧡🖤
Another serotonin-boost fall video from the Halloween queen! Though I’m DYING to know… where is that glorious witch cauldron mug from?!?? I’ve been eyeing it in your videos for forever and cannot find anything similar!
Waiting for Hollowthorn by Kalyn Josephson to come out later this month. Just cannot get enough of curious, sapient houses with their own mysteries 👻🕸🎃
I've listened to the audiobook of The Shining and I enjoyed it. I'm currently finishing IT, and then I'm going into Misery. I've never read Stephen King before this year and now I can't get enough. I have seen all the TV adaptations and movies LOL.
Love these recommendations! ❤ I can't wait to read Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman this autumn. I've seen practical magic but never read the book series so it's at the top of my tbr. Happy October! 👻
I mostly reads my mysteries if I'm in the mood. But I usually reread my favorite thriller, TEN by Gretchen McNeil or the Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury, but I am hoping to read the horror classics as well. I have a bind up of the most popular ones that includes some of Poe's work. 👻🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇
There's quite a bit of gore (or light gore) in The hollow places, like things that make you go eeww. Just a heads up for you :). It's balanced out by Kingfishers fresh tone and that signature YA humour of hers
We ordered the same books on BOTM! Definitely read the classics! Frankenstein is my fav, and I am currently almost done with Dracula and love it!! Dr. J & Mr.H is also on my TBR. The middle grades in my TBR are: The Clackity, Small Spaces, & Deephaven. I love the Shining Movie, but haven’t read the book, let us know!
I want to read The Shadow Cabinet (sequel to Her Majesty’s Royal Coven) and The Ravens. Not necessarily spooky, but both are about witches so they are perfect for the season. I also want to read Ninth House and The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires. 👻
Loving all the spooky recommendations!! I don’t know for sure what my most anticipated read is for spooky season. I was on vacation this past week and went book shopping and bought a tons of books and then I went to a local used book sale and came out with 2 grocery bags of books. I have too much to choose from!! 🧛♂️ 👻 🕸️
I just started Southern Bookclubs guide to Slaying Vampires today on audio and am obsessed already! The narrator is wonderful and you’ve talked so highly about Grady Hendrix I had to give one a try!
October doesn’t have enough days for me to read everything that I waaaaant 😭😭🎃🎃
The editing on the BOTM ad is hilarious I love it 😂
I really want to read the Six of Crows duology, The Infernal Devices and the Caraval trilogy this autumn. I feel like the vibes of these series could be perfect for fall🧙🧛🦇
I started Caraval! So far it is delightful! 😊
Six of crows is phenomenal omg, it’s a bit of a slow start but it’s so good
@@jessicajordan680 Thank you for telling me! I think I'm gonna start it today🤭😁

Who is Meg from Booktube? What is her channel called?

Love! Need a video all about your kindle and how you decorate it. It’s adorable.

My number one spooky book is also Halloween Party by Agatha Christie! 👻

This book is so weird. One of my favs. Truly unforgettable!! It's so hard to find a book like that again :(
