4-10-2022 Doing What Eagles Do

Spirit is growing into the majestic eagle it was meant to be… The last couple of days has been exciting to watch! Yesterday Spirit was working on the nest, moving fluff & sticks, making daddy proud… so proud he had to jump in and work alongside his little one…
While spending time with mom, Spirit decided to show off a bit, perching on one of the larger sticks in the nest. If you ever wondered why the nest needs so many large sticks, now you know. Spirit is practicing its perching skills while safely in the nest.
So, what was next in Spirit’s big adventure… watch Spirit as s/he watches mom eating a fish… s/he grabs a small piece of fish and does its best. It won’t be long before Spirit will be able to self-feed, a little more coordination and strength and we will be there. Of course, even when Spirit is able to feed itself, s/he will still squee and squee and demand mom or dad still feed it!
This morning Spirit was standing up tall, front and center and gave us all quite a show… flapping and exercising those wonderful wings! Notice the little hops… ok maybe just picking up one foot at a time, but that is how it is done. Spirit wants to feel air under those feet!
Spirit will take its first flight from the nest at about 10 to 14 weeks. S/he will likely continue to visit and use the nest to sleep, eat or perch. Jackie and Shadow will continue to bring food for Spirit and our eaglet will stay in the area another month or two, maybe longer before it heads out on its life’s journey.

Our little fluff ball is growing up fast. So adorable moving nesting materials and trying hand at self feed, not as easy as mom and dad make it look so of course mom gives them bites 🥰

Rearranging small sticks, fluff, and looking so cool while doing so, Spirit is definitely taking after Shadow. What a beautiful and healthy eaglet! I’m so happy for them after their hard knocks. Thank you FOBBV for sharing!
