This was from the rock concert they typed with. Venus Hum was a guest that traveled with Blue Man Group. The theme of the concert was How To Be A Megastar. The blue men never spoke so they needed a guest to do the vocals.

One of the most spectacular things I've ever seen! I never get tired of watching this. To be there to witness that performance would have been fantastic. Thanks for featuring this video. And by the way, HAPPY (early) BIRTHDAY to Cathy!!! Mine is the 24th, but better yet it's our eight year anniversary. The best birthday gift to me is my wife.🥰

BTW, this is a Donna Summer song from 1977 I believe.

This song was originally recorded by Donna Summer as a disco song back in the late 1970's. With the exception of the heavy percussion in this performance, both versions of the song are very similar.

Venus Hum is the singer and the 2 guys wearing silver. There's actually a few touring groups of The Blue Man Group or were and the Vegas show as well. 3 guys started it and trained others to perform their show. Great live band 🎶😎

The whole show was very good and the place is right down the street from my house in Texas of course, I've seen several shows there 🤠

Hey there, we have seen the Blue Man Group in Las Vegas at the Luxor hotel a few years ago now. This was one of their set. Glad we sat a few rows back though! Covered in toilet tissue at the end. They are hilarious but fantastic musicians. Great reaction.

Seen them live twice, once in Dallas back in 2010 and last year in Vegas. My parents have the DVD with this whole show.

Would love to see BMG live. They are brilliant with the way they can use all sorts of different items as instruments. What I have seen of them, they are usually performing by themselves, but this may have been a collaboration with Venus Hum and her band for a different kind of show. It really is amazing.

The theme of this particular tour was "How To Be A Megastar", with the Blue Men following an "instruction manual" on how to become rock stars. 🙂 While the majority of the show was the BMG themselves, they did have a couple of guest appearances come out as part of their attempts to follow the "how-to" guide. (The instruction manual tells them "Once you have become an established success, it is important to pay tribute to some of the legendary musicians that came before you." Their attempts to emulate Devo and Ozzy Ozbourne come just before they go into the Donna Summer song; the video the ladies watched here cuts that opening part off.)

Venus Hum is a three man group, Blue man group has had a backup band (in this case 9) musicians, depending on the show. No idea about the Vegas show, and it may have change over the years.

All right my lovely ladies.... I know about this group but I've never really heard them before. I do know that this is a different spin on a Donna Summer single. I think it is right for the times ‼️💯🔥😎👍🏻

The name Venus Hum comes from one of her band mates. It's a medical condition called Venus Hum, which causes a constant humming in the ears.

To get a better idea of the capabilities of Blue Man Group, you should have played the lead-in to this, including their covers of "Crazy Train" and "Like A Virgin". They're extremely talented percussionists. I saw them a few years ago on tour, and yes, it's pure sensory overload, especially when the paint comes out.

The singer had to be *very* careful about moving around in that dress! Those electroluminescent panel strips required about 200V to make them light up brightly enough to be seen, so she had a thick bundle of cables trailing down behind her and running offstage connecting her to the lighting sequencers so they could be synced up with the rest of the show.
And to give you an idea of what the Blue Man Group guys are capable of -- that rapid, staccato bass-line was originally played by an automatic sequencer, connected to an Moog synthesizer, that kept up that steady 126-beats-per-minute all through the song without human intervention. Now, 126bpm, in 4/4 time, is 504 notes per minute, or 8.4 notes per *second* -- and the BMG guys are hammering out that same 126bpm bass line *by hand* , hitting that tangle of plastic pipes 8.4 times a second to create that same sound! And then on top of that, since it would be almost impossible for a single person to maintain that pace for more than a minute at most, they're tag-teaming it, trading off with each other every 30 seconds or so *without missing a beat.* That takes an incredible amount of stamina, timing, and coordination.

This is what I call total sensory overload. You have to love the singer's attitude and energy, and the BIG DRUM! Gotta say I like this version better than the Donna Summer original. I do have this video, called "The Complex Tour", which was recorded in Dallas, Texas.

I have a lot of suggestions for Venus Hum, the group is Annette Strean Kip Kubin and Tony Miracle, Tony has a heart condition called Venus Hum, you should do the song Soul Sloshing, Montana and Bella Luna first 👍 and Beautiful Spain 👍
