I know in my heart you would absolutely LOVE “Woman In Chains” by Tears For Fears. Their first three albums (“The Hurting” in 1983, “Songs From The Big Chair” in 1985, and “The Seeds Of Love” in 1989) were all masterpieces.
For my money, this is one of the greatest songs in my lifetime. A perfect confluence of sounds. The idea of shout therapy. The frustration. The most catchy hook of outrage. Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith going vocally crazy and the drums. It is perfectly constructed. I had this tape and played it into the ground.

There is nothing overdone with either the song or the music video. It is just perfect. The vocals are as you say a perfect blend. It is like you are just joining a party or entertaining guests at your house, The song just makes me remember why I love music. It is a part of us and one of very small things in our current life that we can appreciate and enjoy. Modern music to me is lightspeed years behind this kind of music. This my favourite song of theirs. Back in the day I saw them in a small venue in Brighton. Part way through the song. they stopped playing and the whole crowd, me included, sang the lyrics together with them. Awesome stuff.

Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal are very talented songwriters who grew up listening to progressive rock gods, deeply influenced by them and managed to create their own rich, signature sound at the time. Besides their hit songs, they have written so many beautiful pop-rock songs through the years. For your own listening enjoyment, you might want to check out their latest effort, The Tipping Point, from 2022. It is a beautifully produced, sophisticated pop-rock album from start to end. Growing up to this song, it was put out that the guys in the band had a fight before the release of this song and there was a chance that the group might have ended that night. I wish I had more details, because this is one those songs that stand the test of time, this song definitely was a milestone for "shots fired" being put in a song.

What a song! I wanna say I discovered them summer of '85 I wasn't really into radio music back then. Flashback of the 80s goin on when I hear this. I'm a Metalhead. But songs from the big chair is classic. Love it to this day. They sure do look old now but sound amazing still. Great musicians.
