I love your tutorials man. I just started playing guitar again back in October 2019 and everything I've learned has been through your channel. Alot of tyler childers and colter wall. I hope you never stop. Thank you.
Im relatively new to Colters music. Was thinking all day... I wonder if some legend has made a video tutorial so I can learn this incredible song. Makes me happy to be able to play this. Thanks for taking the time to show us what you took time to learn. Cheers, from Ireland
I just decided to pick guitar back up after 6 years and have found Tyler Childers and Colter Wall to be among the reasons for my desire to get back into it. I stumbled across your channel and I’ll tell you what, I’m very much looking forward to watching your tutorials and learning some of my favorite songs. I’ll be in touch. Thank you.
I have a lot more Tyler Childers stuff than I do Colter Wall, but those two are definitely among my favorites. Definitely check out the Jason Isbell lessons I’ve done too if you like him, I’ve got quite a few of his uploaded as well
I've always loved music and wanted to learn to play guitar, so just starting out with your videos and my guitar... I'm totally in love. It has brought me so much peace and has improved my mental health. Thank you so much. You're making a difference!
Hey, thank you very much for your time and help. Just want you to know that it is very much appreciated. I just recently started Travis picking and I’d ask for advice but I’m sure it’s just practice more! Thank you again.
Tim, your channel is fantastic, and you’ve helped me so much in my guitar journey. Thank you for the time you’ve put into your channel, now might I request a lesson! Can you please do a video for Turtles All The Way Down and/or Riding with Private Malone! Again thank you for everything sir!
Hey, Tim! First of all, I'd like to say that your lessons are amazing, and I am very grateful that you are teaching us for free. However, there's one thing that prevents me from learning your lessons, and that is the strumming pattern. I never seem to get that mixture between strumming and picking that you do; could you explain?
I recommend you learn the open chords and then add the riffs/picking I feel your comment here I’ve been watching Tim for awhile great at breaking down the chords and riffs but he’s a little more strumming would help!
Hi Tim thanks for the great video. Just having a bit of trouble combining the picking and the strumming in the parts like the intro. Any advice on this? Cheers
Thanks man the tabs confused the shit outta me between what the tab said and what i could hear on the record then he played it different live so I couldn’t figure this shit out
do you have anything bout colter walls right hand technique. seems like he does a a alternating thumb with down strumming with index but then plucking out notes with 3rd/4th finger sometimes..confusing
I honestly haven't looked at his technique enough to really dissect it, but you're right in that it is unique. It's the type of thing that has a lot of feel to it rather than technicality.
@@TimGuitarLessons how would you explain a simplified strum pattern version when just singing? Seems like you're doing something like bass- down strum, second bass-down / up strum?
Man that’s really nice... but no I don’t have a patreon at the moment. I’ve been thinking about starting one but just didn’t know how much of a market there would be in doing it right now.
Tim, keep us posted if you are going to set one up. I would certainly pay for your lessons. If you ever do private lessons on Skype or something like that, let us know that as well.
Hey Brady, I hold my strumming hand at the back of the soundhole of the guitar. I usually have my forearm in solid contact with the top of the guitar almost anchoring my forearm to the guitar with my wrist and hand hovering over the strings. In terms of strumming, it should be pretty easy to pick up. I mention the strumming technique at 5:12. It's basically just alternating down with thumb and then down with the back of your first and second fingers.
Riley Boydstun might be broken if not you might’ve tuned it wrong instead of a full step down you might’ve went down to maybe a C flat or your tuner isn’t on 440
Gotcha. Yeah, it’s the best video I’ve seen yet for any Colter Wall song. I just learn the concepts quicker with tabs, that’s why I asked. Thanks for doing the video!
