I just bought the GT100 from my local guitar center this past Saturday ( I think they put them out too early, shhh don't tell Fender!) I'm loving it, much cooler than my old Mustang 1 v.2. Only problem is I can't get onto the Fender web page for the Tone app. It keeps prompting me for a log in.
Pete's playing is inspiring! Him and Mick are my two favourite guitarists! This series of RUclips videos have got me back into playing the guitar, so thanks to you all!
Andertons Music Co Oh,so these are a pre order wait in line thing?!I'm still waiting for the Marshall code 100 to get here ( I did buy the 50 ). The code easily does the fender sound so I'll wait for my Code 100.Its less expensive but I do wish it had all the extras plug ins on the back.Ill pay the extra money if the code has these!
@@fritsvanzanten3573 Someone actually did that during a demo of the amp on a security site. Fender corrected the issue so that the Bluetooth required a login to tie it to the phone so no one could just connect up to it. It was corrected in a firmware update so you probably already have it. It was a real potential problem when they first released it though. The BT was wide open for accepting connections.
The big question! Does one want a modelling amp like the FENDER MUSTANG GT 100 with all the “bells and whistles”, limitless presets, Bluetooth & WIFI connectivity, on board tuner, LED screen etc etc etc OR a simple “plug and play” with beautiful Fender clean tones, a few amp models and presets but with a better 12” Midnight 60 Celestion speaker, open backed with warmth and room filling capacity, not boxy, truly giggable, the new black face FENDER CHAMP 50xl? Yes. unhyped, under the radar and cheaper and better!? No 10 second warm up no need for hours of knob fiddling and hours spent finding the “right” tone? I want a versatile amp that’s simple to use with legendary Fender clean tones without the LED screen (hopeless eyesight) whereby every note I play in a chord is crystal clear👍...and it’s cheaper!👍
Lee, I am genuinely impressed at just how far your playing has come since you started doing these videos. It's almost unrecognisable. And you have rightly gained a lot of confidence in it. It's no mean feat playing alongside someone as good as Pete but you absolutely looked like you belonged there and played some tasty beautifully timed melodies It's all paying off. I hope you are proud of that. You should be
Jurica Kovacevic I hope so! Another Guy out of Australia did that with the Mustang Series II. It was very convincing. Being Andertons sells the other more expensive amps, I'm not sure it would be in their videos 😬
I don't think so, Andertons seems like a very genuine company, they released videos where Rob and Lee mistook a CV Squier for a CS Fender, don't see a reason why they wouldn't compare the amps. If not on this channel, at least on Rob's.
Pete's great. It's nice to have some variety though. Dunno who the guy with Pete is in this video though. Andertons should ditch him ;) btw, I liked the t-shirts in this video, not sure I'd seen them before.
haha, he's one of those gifted musicians that can say more with a simple, clean, uncluttered 5 note phrase than most can with a long self indulgent solo, I know that first hand because I am the master of long self indignant solos.
Lee suggested that they might do another video with the 2 of them working through some presets. With respect to the amp (and the channel's need to promote it's features), I'd prefer to see a video of the 2 chaps working through the amp models (modelled amps) with minimal effects, as they were doing during certain parts of this. It's marvellous that you can download effect-laden presets but I think it would be more useful (and sell the amp better) to show how you can achieve different tones and moods with nothing but the basic amp models, playing with the amp settings and adding a little reverb or overdrive).
I bought the V.2 Mustang and found myself only using 2 or 3 of the presets. And all of those were just the clean presets. So I decided it's time to just get an amp and work on creating my own clean tone. So traded in my Mustang and got a Vox AC15C1. While it was easier to get a clean tone I liked quicker with the V.2, the AC is so much more rewarding when I finally get it dialed in. The Mustang line and Andertons are fully responsible for me getting back into electric so thank you!!
This is a great little demo and the sounds are FANTASTIC. I bought a Boss Katana 100 recently because I wanted something dynamic but the tone of it just doesn't always land right. I'm still learning it but if I don't dial it in I'm gonna look to sell that and pick up one of these :)
***** They are both amazing guitarists! just different musical styles. Not a fan of when people compare musicians to one another tbh, always sounds negative to the person on the other side.
I just jammed on one of these today and I have to say it is fantastic. Very easy to use and very workable tones in seconds. These guys always do a great job. Pete is such an amazing player to watch.
I was sold by this video. Got one and there great amps. It's perfect for me because I can plug in my headphones and jam without worry of disturbing my neighbors at any hour. I now don't have any more excuse to not to practice. Great review video!
Pete's playing at the beginning is unreal... One question on these amps: apart from a phone app and updated/better sound patches, what's fundamentally different from the "old" Fender Mustang amps? Will there be a pedalboard version too?
Love video - Lee's face when Pete starts playing is how we all feel. Would be fun for all the usual crew at Andertons to create a preset and share to fender site
All these videos are great! Informative, examples, honest, and fun! ! Just discovered all these guys online (Andertons and Rob) from America looking for amp reviews about a week or so ago.... been completely obsessed and fully entertained by them all so far, the best I've ever seen! Cheers!
Sounds like this is one really amazing amplifier! I loved the Mustang II V2, but this one sounds like it might just be one of the most awesome budget amps ever made!
I own a GT100 and I use it in my home studio. Honestly, if you work a little bit, you can get some pretty great tones! If I mess with the EQ, verb, and modulation in my DAW, it's better than any other amp sim I've tried (Including the neuraldsp plugins).
I dropped in today for a 'quick' play and I've been reading the manual (as I don't have the real thing to play with yet). I love what Fender have done this time. Previously they'd artificially limit the functionality of the lower models just to make the better ones seem better. But they don't need to here. The only reasons to buy the GT40 are the cost (not a huge difference in price) or lower volume levels. If the volume doesn't bother you you'll buy the 100 or 200 imo. I love how you can use the full size footswitch with it (previous lower-end Mustangs had a single button footswitch if I remember correctly). LCD display, and everything fully editable from the amp. Fantastic. Shame the GT40 doesn't have the Mid and Reverb buttons, but you can't have everything.
Because the speaker is geared towards guitar and backing-track playback, could the amp be a credible acoustic amp as well - a bit like the Katana and the new Line6 Spider amps? This feature alone had me looking very hard at those amps as I play both kinds of guitar with my band. Thanks!
woodsroamer Mustang VII had a preamp setting that was to emulate being able to plug an acoustic into a preamp into a board. It has worked great for me in live situations. I can't imagine the new one would be worse, and is probably better. I always direct out of the amp anyway so I'm really just using the amp as a monitor and I always get positive compliments of both my acoustic and electric tone.
Thanks for the response. I have a III and a IV, and it sounds great using a Strat on the very patch you mentioned, but I'm not a fan of it when using an actual AE guitar. The Katana/Spider sound quite authentic acoustically - I hope the Mustang GT can pull off the same trick.
Really good demo guys. I've just checked out other demo's of these amps and they are very poor, no-one comes close to your knowledge and presentation..! Due to a severe back injury, I'm in need of a lightweight, good sounding amp for sessions and for gigging in various types of bands (4 piece function, 10 piece soul, 3 piece blues etc.) and this one (the 100 watt) has to be checked out when they're in stock. I've been weary of other "modelling" amps (even the earlier Mustangs as the sounds weren't "pro" enough (whatever that means...) Looks like a trip to sunny Guildford coming up... Keep up the good work :-)
These amps are totally awesome. I'm getting the GT100 tomorrow. I would really like to have the 200 but I just don't need that much power just to play in my bedroom. Does the 100 have all the effects and amps the 200 has?
So does the "Tone" app replace the previous "Fuse", and will "Tone" work on older Mustang and Champ X models? Not really happy that Fender offered hardly any support and updates on Fuse; I'd be worried about this with "Tone".
+Marcin Dzikowski fuse was abandoned long time ago but fender won't admit it, once silverlight (Microsoft) is no longer useable on your system then fuse will fail to work also. Saying that, I never use fuse other than the first month I had my mustang. Does everything (and more) from the front panel for me.
So, in summary: Once burned, twice shy. Planned obsolescence might be fine for smart phones, but I put music-related items in a different mental category. Sorry Fender; no sale.
I'm a tube amp guy, but this is interesting! I love all my fender tube amps, twin, bandmaster, bassman, and my champ I'm going to buy one just to compare them to this! The clean sounds on this thing sounded pretty close but I got to feel it under my fingertips to be sold, And Pete your a slick and tasty guitar player!! Love these videos!! Keep em going captain!!!
super pass...these amps are total shite. band member bought one back when they came out and at first we were excited. who doesn't like new gear? then he plugged it in and 5 of us spent like an hour trying to figure out the control on the damn thing, cause no matter what we did it sounded like shit, just like this video. lee n pete play great as usual but there is something about this amp that i just do not like. and i play thru a 74 fender super twin so its not like i hate fender. that was the final straw. once we started playing this Mustang modeling amp was totally lost in the mix, even at 100 SS watts. and at the time we had my 74 ST, that 40 watt marshall combo everyone uses (valve), and a line 6 4X12 SS. bass was just plugged into the PA. but yea, i felt terrible for my friend, to spend good money on such a shit amp. if i was the GC worker i woulda suggested something else for him.
Seems like a variation on the Line 6 Spider IV, Firehawk FX, AmpliFi template. How does it compare vs the Line 6 products? I use the Firehawk FX and like it for what it is and does.
I'd like to know the same thing. Apart from the WiFi connectivity for updates, which I like the sound of, this seems a pretty straight clone of the Line 6 Amplifi. Fender is even riffing on the Line 6 marketing for that series, saying that the physical design is made to fit right into the living room.
I fitted a celestion cream back speaker to the previous Mustang 40W model and this made a tremendous difference. I do also run a Fender Blues Deluxe but use the Mustang for ease of transporting to smaller gigs.
before saving any preset you have to go into someplace in the menu ( read the manual) and click on "let save into memory" if not you will get the warning not allowed to store into memory bank...or something like that
The fender mustang gt 40 and the fender MGT-4 footswitch is amazing, i love it my fender telicaster american special lake placid blue sounds great playing through it , Thankyou andertons for andalusia of this great gear, best wishes Dominic
I just bought a Mustang II a few months ago and it sounds fantastic. I'm not too keen on the look of the GT, but I'm digging the features they've introduced.
Yea right, it took about 6 or 7 years for the 2nd shootout Bea and Pete did and that was like 6 months ago, you think they are gonna do another one this soon? However there is a RUclipsr who is going to do one soon with some amps that were not in the video Bea and Pete did and that is The Tone King
Good comparison: 1x12 for the Katana 50 vs 2x6.5 for the GT-40. And maybe throw the Blackstar ID:Core 40 V2 in, because they're all competing at the $200 mark in the US.
alabastermontague im personally interested in headphone/line out di output quality of them, i need some amp for silent playing because i have a baby son, and i can only play in the evenings. Ofc i can just buy hd500x (and i probably will) but i was looking for a good sounding amp that i could play "normally" sometimes.. (sadly selling my Fender Champ X2, because it has no silent playing output..)
So did Pete ever do a patchwork for his own style Love your RUclips channel You are all such talented people Thank you and keep up the great videos Cheers
You had me until 18:05. Sounded great with Fender amp sims, and not good at all with the others. It was sort of odd to see both Lee and Pete actually enjoying the other amps. Is it possible they sounded better in the room than through the interwebs? Otherwise, i don't get it. Would be cool to see a blindfold test of just the fender models vs tube counterparts.
There are currently many alternatives to Yamaha THR series, this smaller Mustang GT is another. Do you think Yamaha will update the THR10s and THR5 in the near future, or have they given up that corner of the market for small stereo Hi-fi practice amps?
How does this compare to the Boss Katana? Option paralysis could kick in with this but it's nice not to need your computer to edit all the effects compared to the Katana. The distortion channels sounded quite bad on the Mustang too, to be honest.
I need to know if Fender have improved the terrible on-board delays that were/are loaded on the Mustang III v2. I owned one, and sold it just out of frustration with the terrible "single echo - nothing" feature all of the delay settings had. I love playing a delay, but live for the natural fade out, not "fuzzy echo, silence" If its fixed, I'm back!
But in full disclosure, once you get past the 99% not very good presets on the mustsang III V2, it really was very easy to dial in some sexy over driven tones, then roll the volume back for some pretty darn good tube emulated response/tone clean unearthly gorgeousness.
I work at Guitar Center and I'm listening to this amp review through the Amp they're reviewing.

Oh sweet! I've been waiting for Lee and Pete to jam. Nice.
before saving any preset you have to go into someplace in the menu ( read the manual) and click on "let save into memory" if not you will get the warning not allowed to store into memory bank...or something like that
Pete is absolutely amazing
Great sounds....Pete and Lee...lessons for us less skilled would be a good idea!
That intro jam tugged on the heartstrings...great playing and great review!
i got chills at 0:18 great playing from both of yah
Some awesome playing from both the guys on here. Lee is on fire !
Great gear.....and Pete is simply sublime 😎
The fender mustang gt 40 and the fender MGT-4 footswitch is amazing, i love it my fender telicaster american special lake placid blue sounds great playing through it , Thankyou andertons for andalusia of this great gear, best wishes Dominic
Poor dude can't afford some jeand and a nice guitar, it's all worn.
Suta Pál the sad life of being a career musician
Yeah, it's cool, I know it's more valuable
Those are relic'd jeans he's rocking.
The only thing that I own and like which is actually relic is my wife !
?????? you're a Flipp'n wanker!!!
What do you think of the stereo gt40 vs the mono gt100? Smaller stereo vs larger 1x12?
I think the smaller speakers might end up sounding like a boom-box. I have an aversion to any speaker smaller than a 10
You should do another video going direct into soundcard to see the recording capabilities of these amps.
Didn't Marshall do the wifi thing before this amp came out?
Quick question. I want to buy guitar combo wich would you choose and why: Fender Mustang Gt 100 or Boss Katana 100?
Fender have changed history with this Mustang G T. I can afford it, but I don't know when. Great video.
Regards Tony of Devon.
I just bought a Mustang II a few months ago and it sounds fantastic. I'm not too keen on the look of the GT, but I'm digging the features they've introduced.
wondering how does it compare to Boss Katana
I think it may be the time for the new modeling amp comparison video :D
I tried the headphone jack today on one. It was so-so. The sound out of the amp into the speaker was really impressive.
when i read Fender Mustang GT i thought: what, now there's a Ford Mustang edition? god damn it?! 😂😂😂
Pete phrasing is so sweet!
I was literally thinking just last week: "I wonder when they'll release an update to the Fender Mustang V2"...and then bam
Ready for a Boss Katana vs Fender Mustang GT comparison now! Amazing playing fellas!
So did Pete ever do a patchwork for his own style
Love your RUclips channel
You are all such talented people
Thank you and keep up the great videos
Cheers
You had me until 18:05. Sounded great with Fender amp sims, and not good at all with the others. It was sort of odd to see both Lee and Pete actually enjoying the other amps. Is it possible they sounded better in the room than through the interwebs? Otherwise, i don't get it. Would be cool to see a blindfold test of just the fender models vs tube counterparts.
It's interesting and slightly heartwarming to see the captain get better and more comfortable with soloing.
Just got mine today, love it. Thanks for the great video!
There are currently many alternatives to Yamaha THR series, this smaller Mustang GT is another. Do you think Yamaha will update the THR10s and THR5 in the near future, or have they given up that corner of the market for small stereo Hi-fi practice amps?
Dang not another one. I was just about to go buy a katana now i have to wait for more demos of these to show up
Pete is like my favourite guitarist and his guitars are so unique 🤘
the captain meets peet! we all want to see it
That intro was so special. Well done lads
How does this compare to the Boss Katana? Option paralysis could kick in with this but it's nice not to need your computer to edit all the effects compared to the Katana. The distortion channels sounded quite bad on the Mustang too, to be honest.
I hope Pete uploads more lick lessons!! I really really enjoy his RUclips channel and also the andertons channel :-))
I am digging these gt amps ,,,, thanks captain n pete awesome
do the reverb drip? couldn't hear any drip. drip essential.
Great video, but why no info on Fender website and amps not available on websites of major US retailers? Fender is weird. Andertons is great.
Yes for Pete's patches.
