- Virtual Pathfinder video "The Eiger North Face Part 2 - The First Attempts 1935-1937". Music by The Infinite Wave. This is the second video in a series of three about the Eiger North Face. It is mainly three climbing attempts illustrated with route maps.
I have just finished The White Spider and so came looking for visuals here on you tube. Thanks for these 2 parts so far you have helped me understand the history much better!
Thanks ! The White Spider is a classic. It is an illustration of the human struggle to overcome a challenge.
Bonjour. C'est très intéressant, merci 😊Je ne suis pas une alpiniste mais passionnée par les histoire d'ascensions. Je vis à Grenoble, dans les Alpes. Bonne continuation.
Very interesting. Well done! 💯🏆
legendary nordwand of death ... good job
It is clear that bad weather is to be expected during an attempt no matter what the experts say..so, go prepared.
The volume on this is so low, I can't even hear it.
Thanks for pointing it out, I will look into it for the coming videos
who narrated this? fascinating subject, but the flat, monotone delivery makes it unwatchable. 😐
Its so weird...these climbers climb these challenges for the ultimate ego trip...because they aware of the consequences when things go wrong...and succeed. I feel sorry for their families but...Besides the cost, effort and danger for own loss of life by the resquers I have little empaty for those who fail and die.
Success depends to certain extent on luck, and the line between success and disastrous failure is sometimes thin.
This sounds so stupid ... Then when you F up or the weather change happens, others are put at risk due to your buttt...

Not terrible, but your graphics are shit - every 2nd time you show an image and trace their journey over it, it changes so badly from one section of the mountain to another that it's impossible to make clear sense of where these poor bastards actually were.
The best way to get a feel for the locations is to go to the overview with the names. But even then it is hard to tell which parts are extremely difficult and dangerous, they all look almost the same on the image.
