Wayne Soveran absolutely! I love mark2 Purple with Gillan, but honestly i think that mark3 was amazing, very vigorous and crazy. David has such a unique bluesy voice, and Glenn was truly amazing bassist- he and Ian Paice created strong rythm section. And obviously Glenn was amazing singer, a little bit unpredictable and insane, but very talented.
I am 21 and i watch this video since the age of 5 thats some childhood memories..i remember relatives give guitars to me and i was breaking them after watching this😂

3:38 Ritchie doesn't know they're going to do the build up before the chorus twice as long....before everyone piles on with " lets see you do it better" or it "doesn't matter" I know I know, it's just an observation. I love Deep Purple.
Space Truckin' (LIVE 1974 ONTARIO) Deep Purple 1974 (Mark III): David Coverdale - Vocals Jon Lord - Organ Glenn Hughes - Bass, Vocals Ian Paice - Drums Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar
Ritchie was quite pissed off at this show, he warned the camera guy near him to not get in the way but didn't listen. Mgmt from the show wanted them on earlier and he refused to come out of his dressing room. So you could say he took his frustrations out on a few Fenders but still this was a good show.
"Salud",!!!...

David has a very mesmerising voice but he shouldn't have sung the songs that fits only for Ian. This one was a mistake. They even sang Highway Star, it was a clear failure.
Jimmie Francis that’s not an excuse to watch him throw his guitar around for 15 minutes and destroy equipment that didn’t belong to him. It’s just dickhead behavior, you can be a showman and make music and expecting that doesn’t make you any less of a fan
8:52 - Jon Lord says, “Hold my beer...” Well... a tad of a disappointment. I’d have liked less Arp Odyssey and more Hammond C-3. He eventually took to the C, but only when he was just about ready to close out his tab for the number, and hand it over to Ritchie. Oh well. A JL solo is still a work of art for the ages, no matter what package it comes in.
khalid alwalid i like Glover very much, but honestly i think that Glenn Hughes was amazing bassist, better than Roger. And better fits to Ritchies guitar.
Glenn Hughes was a great mistake for Deep Purple. David Coverdale? Deep Purple died after Who do we think we are! They were one, only and genuine Deep Purple. OK, the third one, including the April was about to be listened, and after that Concert for group and the orchestra was a silent announcement of something to be amazing- Deep Purple. Including Ian Gillan's voice masterpiece rolling the leding roll playing Jesus Christ's roll in rock-opera "Jesus Christ Superstar".
Personal opinion : CoverHughes vocals....nowhere near Gillan's ! ( they seemed to be going for something very different from IG....not to my taste / hearing )
Replacing Gillan is like replacing Daltrey. Can't be done. Never the same. Did good on Burnn, but not really the band DP. That is my personal opinion. Not questioning talent in any way, just the feeling you get from listening. You know the difference. The groove baby! Lol
I respect your opinion and understand it. The different feeling comes from the facts that Glenn and David brought new influences and are basically different people than Ian and Roger. However, while replacing a key member is always very risky because they have HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE SHOES TO FILL IN, so the new member(s) has to be AT LEAST ALMOST AS GREAT (Queen, for example, did a smart move with name change after Freddie's passing), a few bands do get lucky and make the new line-up work, Deep Purple being one of them. Otherwise you're at the risk of turning purely into touring jukebox, who might have great new material, but most people just won't care. With some bands we'll just never know. With some bands, we're SO USED TO their classic line-ups that, as great as new line-ups could be, we'd just feel wrong about them changes, like there's a splinter in your body or arm replacement. On a side-note, if I ever got to use a time-machine I would have done so to tour some of the most legendary gigs ever, including this one and Japan and Denmark from 72, and Doing Their Things one by DP (and maybe their debut gigs as well, yes I know it's already quite a load xD ) :D
WTF is going on between 5.15 and 7.00 or so .....Hughes' high pitch squealing is awful. The shorter - but tighter - Made In Japan version knocks socks off this.
